More goals than Balotelli and £54m (loooooooooooooooooooooool) rated Soldado and Lamella combined this season etc, discuss.

I'd completely forgotten about Soldado, thanks for that.

I really rate Bellerin. With Debuchy coming back, I wouldn't even think about giving him a chance while Bellerin is playing like this. Even though it's crunch time I think Bellerin can handle the pressure and keep playing like he is.

Debuchy can play at CB too, when players need a rest he'll get the chances to force himself back into the starting 11.

Had him on loan last season - did fairly well in a poor unconfident side.

That would make sense, I don't see Wenger dropping Bellerin even if Debuchy performed well at CB though. The question is, what happens to Carl Jenkinson next season?

Arsenal will have Debuchy, Bellerin and Jenkison, Chambers too who can play RB. Will be interesting to see who Wenger starts and who he keeps.

He's immense but Debuchy should slot back in as first choice. Bellerin is better going forward, but I don't think Debuchy loses his mind and concedes that penalty last weekend. Bellerin will see plenty of action and can be used in front of Debuchy in games we are trying to kill off. Defensive nous plus rapid pace to counter with.

Sadly I think this spells the end for Jenkinson's future with us. Best of luck to him. His celebration after scoring against Norwich is one of my favourite Arsenal memories in recent times. Glad he was able to lift a trophy with his boyhood club.

"they don’t win big trophies, so in order to try to keep themselves in the picture towards the top of the table, and keep up the image of a big club still up there with the big boys, they have to over-promote their players on a rotation basis beyond their true abilities.

If these players really are as good as Arsenal fans want us to believe, the Gunners would be top of the Premier League table and favourites to win the Champions League.

But they’re not."

Going on a bit of PR spin after last weekend, eh? And using the Daily Mail!

It's Adrian Durham; he's paid to wind-up Arsenal supporters. If anything he should be eating a little crow given our form since that article was published. I don't think there's any Arsenal fan on here that would argue we're anything better than the second best side in England. Every set of supporters overrate their players a bit. For example, if you polled Liverpool supporters, I imagine the majority would pick a combined XI with more of your own. At least this would have been the case three weeks ago.

Arsenal are a step-up from Liverpool at the moment. It's why we've signed Sanchez. It's why we've lost once in the last 7 or so meetings between the two sides. It's why we'll sign Sterling :£

There is definitely a sense that players get overhyped, but this isn't exclusive to Arsenal. I would say the turnaround in opinion on any given player for Arsenal is quite drastic at times. One poor performance can have fans wanting them out (not the sane ones obviously) and then they're hailed in a godlike manner when they hit form. Look at Giroud after the loss to Monaco to how he's fared since.

I also think Arsenal fans might get unfair judgement due to the Arsenal.tv fans who get youtube time that are basically complete twats.

Yeah, it's definitely not exclusive to Arsenal, we have a load of fans who are just as fickle & reactionary as one example. I think Arsenal fans presence on social media seems a lot more vocal than others though which contributes to it. It's only ever Liverpool or Arsenal who win all the polls for instance, no wonder Farage supports neither of them.

I thought you'd infer my inclusion of Liverpool was responding to your wummery with a bit of my own. All my points stand, though.

Giving attention to a club's "social media presence" is metaphorically taking time, lighting it on fire, and then watching it burn. Ditto RAWK or any of the club forums (RAWK just happens to be the worst of the lot and the most active :gr:).

Always looked suspect defensively whenever i've seen Arsenal this season, that Monaco 1st leg stands out as a shocking performance.

Admittedly that's probably based on 3 or 4 games though.

I'll leave this here to counter the Adrian Durham piece from February that MBR shared with us:

Mignolet
Skrtel - Mertesacker - Sakho
Ox - Hendo - Lucas - Sterling
Coutinho
Sturridge - Sanchez

...:pmsl:

That defence would be calamitous.

You expect a bit of bias, but Lucas? That's some straight up delusion.
