Friday 30th October:
Grimsby v Cheltenham 19:45

Saturday 31st October:
Altrincham v Torquay
Boreham Wood v Gateshead
Braintree v Macclesfield
Eastleigh v Halifax
Forest Green v Chester
Guiseley v Welling
Kidderminster v Woking
Lincoln v Bromley
Southport v Aldershot
Tranmere v Dover
Wrexham v Barrow

So, Grimsby and Cheltenham get this weekend's batch of fixtures underway on Friday evening in a match that looks good on paper but will probably finish 0-0, the equivalent of stocking up with a load of decent sweets only for no one to knock on your door wanting any. Fortunately, GTFC1979 is still wearing his Halloween mask from last year so is ready for the occasion.

Eastleigh, still celebrating winning their Cup Final at Tranmere, host Halifax who have spent the entire season sat in their house with the lights off pretending no one is in whilst the door bell continuously rings from expecting visitors. Meanwhile, Bromley travel to Lincoln in the battle of the overachievers. These two have been working on their costumes for months but when the season finally comes to a head and the big night arrives, they'll be back in mid-table holding the angel's wing that's just fallen off their outfit.

Macclesfield will look to continue to be the most inconsistent thing since inconsistency at Zombie Braintree who maintain to plod about the top 10. Boreham Wood's Halloween Party against Gateshead is set to be postponed as no one will turn up whilst Forest Green Rovers will hope to get back to winning ways against Steve Dead Man Walking Burr's Chester.

Chris Kinnear's Dover visit Tranmere to try and scare another side into submission with their awful playing style - the same costume every year but it still seems to work. Guiseley v Welling is the horror film that no one wants to watch whilst Torquay fans get ready to pull their cagoule on over their Minion outfit to stop the yellow paint from running in the uncovered away end at Altrincham.

Wrexham, dressed as Dennis The Menace, will take things all too seriously against Barrow before succumbing to a 1-1 draw infront of five thousand two thousand fans. Southport will come back from the dead like they usually do to survive for another year so their fixture against The Hunchback of Notre Dame Aldershot is irrelevant.

And finally, Kidderminster and Woking will battle it out in their 'sexy' vampire outfits trying to pull when, really, both will manage to lose and go home with nothing but a kebab (that they can't afford).

DVD Extras Include:
AFC Rushden and Diamonds' Halloween Match Thread invitation gets lost in the post.
DSL's Star Wars outfit has had better years as the light in his lightsaber runs out.
B2TF goes back in time to prevent Neil Aspin from getting sacked.

Watching Guiseley exactly as you describe, lots of scary moments, get close to escaping the villains before being stabbed in the heart in injury time :ffs:

Grimsby are the best team I've seen play so far this season, they've got football league quality all over the pitch. A much better team on paper than Cheltenhams. I think the difference between these 2 is that Cheltenham have the best manager in this league. Home win for me this one.
Halloween has already visited Prenton park this season when the monsterous Eastleigh came to town. From the highlights I've seen of Dover they look a decent outfit, especially for part timers and in Nicky Deverdics they have a player who can open up most teams at this level. The lack lustre atmosphere inside Prenton park these days seems to play into the hands of visiting teams. Tranmere should be winning this type of game but I'm not so confident.
I Really hope the hapless Harriers fans have something to cheer this weekend, no football fans deserve to be on the end of such a poor run, even at the expense of unlucky Woking.

Won't happen, we're just not good enough for the league this season. I hope Woking fans enjoy the pies and 3 points

DVD extras? When clearly we are the most important fixture of the week? How will the cup heroes fare after finally falling when returning to life in the league?... Fascinating question I'm glad you asked:

We're away at Barton Rovers, in a game which is a good chance to catch up on fixtures in hand as we sensibly threw away* the game in the FA Trophy so that we could concentrate on the big cup and the league. Barton are mid-table. They've played 6 home games with a 2-2-2 record, so we've got to be hopeful of a win. Andy Hall will be fresh and raring to go after missing the cup games, and Tom Liversedge could get a chance up front with other players battered and bruised from cup exploits too.

We've only got league games left for this season, which is better than a number of the teams around us who have some FA Trophy fixtures and some games in the Red Insure Cup, which we dumped out of by playing a mostly U21 team.

I'm purposely not commenting on our league position, but we can realistically get in to quite lofty territory with a win on Saturday, despite still having games in hand.

*Lost by playing badly from all accounts, but shush that doesn't fit my narrative.

Just hoping our performances continue in a similar vein as the last couple of games.

Not expecting any kind of result, just want an encouraging performance.

I think you'll find it's Barroween... yeah, expect a horror show at Wrexham. A terrible result could see the manager sacked, but I really think he'll throw all caution to the wind and go for the win. So either 2-0 Barrow or 5-0 Wrexham.

Difficult game for Rovers v Dover. As Back in the DHSS suggests, Prenton Park can be a bit of a morgue these days, with the visitors capable of stifling Rovers and ratcheting up the tension, before opening us up and taking the points. Turner a good replacement for the banned Davies, Jay Harris also suspended, which will mean juggling Maynard into midfield and Sutton/Ihiekwe at right-back. Mekki and Taylor-Fletcher injury doubts, Andy Mangan returning to fitness, some interesting decisions for Brabin up-front.

6 clean sheets in 9 Lincoln vs a free scoring Bromley.

Think we have a clean bill of health. Stanley's now just catching up on fitness I think.

Must win this one, no excuses. Waterfall and Howe building a nice understanding at the back, always the chance of another clean sheet. Bush has pleasantly surprised me too.

I'm not sure Bromley will keep their lofty position in the table for much longer, they've proven in recent weeks that they can't defend.

On the road again this weekend. This time at rock bottom AFC Telford in a pretty big game. Losing is not an option.

More than confident we will score. Problem is I know we will concede. :hb::bang:

Their form against top half sides (2 wins in 9) and bottom half sides (7 wins in 9) suggests they'll end up around mid-table

Looking forward to the match tomorrow night. Weird to think that a few years ago these two teams were contesting the League Two Play Off Final.
3-1 Grimsby.

Can't believe that was almost 10 years ago!
I think you'll win a close one tomorrow, I'll say 2-1 with Wright scoring for us. Cup replay on Tuesday won't have helped and Morgan-Smith picked up an injury so we'll probably play Waters up front. Don't expect any changes other than that although I'd like to see more of James Dayton who's looked lively in his short appearances so far.

I'm expecting a defeat tonight as well. We've only ever scored once at Grimsby and I think we'll miss AMS a lot more than people think. Got a feeling there may be a change of formation tonight to bring Dayton in and use Wright up front on his own.

Well with Styche, Hassan and Campbell all leaving in the past week we now have one recognised striker in Gurjit Singh, thankfully he's our best striker but he's not 100% fit yet. Our only other potential striker is Murphy but he's more of a winger in my opinion.

So Woking should easily win tomorrow because we can't defend and now can't score.

Will Cheltenham finally go top tonight, or will they bottle it like they have every other chance they've had to overtake us?

You lost a game of football, get over it and let it go.

Just need to get the job done tomorrow. We're in a strong position going into the winter months if we do.

I think we've only got Sam York as our striking option tomorrow so not expecting many goals unless Chester score a few

DSY had a hernia op and is out for 3 weeks.

Parkin might be fit, only available striker. If not we'll have Charlie Clough or a youth teamer up there.

Yeah alright whatever.

Lets see how you do tonight. Should be able to at least get a point, from what I've seen of Grimsby, against us and on TV, they've looked fairly toothless. I know they've scored a lot, but that's all been against the crap sides, against better sides they tend to struggle so as long as playing on Tuesday doesn't affect you too much, you should get a result. Can see it being a low scoring draw.
