I actually have a sneaky feeling we'll nick this, although I may be falling into gambler's fallacy. But to be honest, who really cares?

Nailed on draw if we go 4-3-3.

Could be any result at all if we go 4-4-2.

Full strength (barring long term injuries) team back again for the first time in 3 weeks. On paper, best chance we have of getting our first home win.

Hartlepool to win this by a narrow margin.

I can't even summarise my feelings towards the Orient in words right now.

It's a strange combination of frustration, anger, apathy, disgust and sadness.

I would love to say I'm past caring and mean it, but that wouldn't be true.

If we lose I'll take some small comfort in seeing the pitchforks at the next home game.

I have a real bad feeling about this.

We need to be more adventurous at home, one striker chasing shadows all game is fucking miserable to watch, I know for a fact that I'm in the minority here but I'd drop a centre midfielder for a striker* and play 442

*
Billy Paynter

Let's have a go at them instead of the crap we've watched so far at home this season, he won't though, it'll be 451/433 and we'll draw, again.

This will be my 8th visit to Victoria Park, I've never seen us play well here. I quite like the day out though.

Hate what my football club has become. Never seen so much bullshit.

It'll be closer than it looks on paper that's for sure, but we are due to get a home win and we are playing some good stuff. We do get shots in and the law of averages says we'll win at home soon.

I still think Hignett will go 4-3-3 though with Donnelly in for Harrison with Deverdics, Hawkins and Laurent in front. of them and our three goalscorers up front.

Got to presume our best midfielder (no, not Walker Mr Glass) Nicky Feath will be back in midfield should we go 4-3-3. Deverdics on the bench.

How do you know he's not the best if he doesn't play .....I have a theory that he's been banned from the first team till Christmas ....I think he's got a new car ....if that counts for anything

Nobody in the division takes fewer shots per game than Hartlepool.

There's also the fact that nobody scores a greater percentage of their shots than Hartlepool, but couldn't resist the urge to completely contradict Kev's statement since it was a fact I was aware of :p

There's statistics , and then there is what you see ....now I see us not 'getting stuck in .' ...I don't know how you express 'getting stuck in ' as a statistic , but that's what I see .....as you know , hitting the post or bar is not classed as a shot on target , but it is if you are there isn't it ?

You really can make a statistic fit any argument if you try .....I keep saying we've won as many as we've lost , good for us compared to the last few years , but it means 3 wins out of 13 in reality

You can't really express getting stuck in statistically, but I just thought it was funny Kev saying Hartlepool were getting the shots in when that is something you can show pretty objectively with statistics.

He does like to analyse things ..... I try , but I've never understood this ...if 'they ' are playing 2 up front , or even 3, why do 'we" need 4 or 5 at the back ?.... I just turn up , watch , and don't need anyone to tell me if someone played well or not ....and I know the difference between a shot on target that made the keeper worry than one that just rolls into his hands

There are three certainties for Saturday.

We'll score, we'll concede and it'll be fucking freezing.

There's using stats to explain what you see on the pitch/in the table, and there's using stats for stats' sake, and then making some crazy assumption based on said stats.

Like on the one hand, anyone who has seen Newport this season has said they're crap, and the table suggests they may have a point. You can look at some stats and see what specifically they're crap at, maybe discover something that isn't obvious from just watching a game.

On the other hand, you get people who say 'oh we had twice as many shots on goal and therefore we were the better team', even though we lost 5-0 I remember a massive argument on a match thread last season over this (I won't say which match thread lest it flare up again).

Of a team is defending well restricting the other team to half hearted speculative shots that just go to the keeper , 10 of them does not mean they are on top or in control

'Cos I'm better than him, and if I'm better than you, you ain't the best player at a professional football club. I hope his ban is until Christmas 2018......

Nobody in the division takes fewer shots per game than Hartlepool.

Is that a true fact? I am quite surprised by that to be honest. Compared to last year, the amount of chances we create has improved tenfold. Bet 365 probably isn't the most accurate for stats, but in our game I remember the figures being something like 7 shots off and 12 shots on for us, and 2 off and 5 on for you. But like Glass says, your 5 shots on target lead to 3 goals and two very good chances, whereas our 12 shots on target were probably 25 yards out and didn't trouble the keeper.

It is a true fact... or at least it was when we played you last weekend, the latest version which was only updated yesterday has you second bottom to Crawley now with less than 9.5 shots per game (the average is just over 11, Portsmouth and Blackpool are taking over 15).

However, and it's a pretty massive however, you are the most clinical finishers in the division only needing 6 shots on average to register a goal (the average is just under 9, Orient need almost 13). When you combine that to your shots-per-game, you're actually the sixth most effective attackers in the division, only the top five places teams are better. So if you're actually at games you're maybe not noticing the lack of overall shots because why would you notice the ones that miss when you score a good number of the ones you take?

Very interesting that, cheers. Effective in front of goal is not something we have been in past years. Quite impressed by that website.

I read on the BBC a couple of weeks ago that 75% of Thomas's shots are on target.

Just don't let him take the penalties.

For the first time Cavasin will have two fit central midfilders avaliable, after having to play square pegs in round holes & completely ignoring Zan Benedicic who looks like a total waste of a signing.

I would expect Palmer and Simpson to continue up front, Jens Janse may play out on the right wing.

I am expecting nothing as I usually do. Our style of play, has been a bit better but our confidence has hit rock bottom, the first goal is huge with us. If we somehow manage to score first we might get something, if we concede first it may well be another 4-0 drubbing.

We will lose and I have Hartlepool in my accy.

Palmer and Bowery up front. Hartlepool must be sh*tting themselves.
