First of all, this is my first post on this thread so I'm sorry if someone has already done a thread on this topic, I'm just interested to see other peoples views on this subject.

It looks like Sterling could move from Liverpool, and he's immediately been warned by his manager and others that if he left now he would be leaving too early, and that he needs more time to develop as a player at Liverpool, which I would be inclined to agree with. But it seems everyone just takes it for granted that he can turn into a world class player- I wonder if that's really the case.

I must admit that he impressed me in his first season at Liverpool; despite being so young he slotted into the side with Suarez and later Sturridge brilliantly, and then at the World Cup 2014 there were clashes of brilliance that got me thinking he could be a really special player. But this season, despite a good start, his standards really fell- it wasn't just the lack of goals, but he was also being too greedy at times and his temperament was poor, and the club themselves didn't deal with him well. He's got promise, but I can't see him staying at Liverpool and when he does leave, inevitably to a big club for a large sum, I can't really see him recapturing his early form that got me and so many others hyped.

As I said, his standard of player has dropped, but for me his temperament is a real concern- he's obviously got it into his head that he's too good for Liverpool and is now surely going to leave to somewhere like Chelsea, United, Arsenal or City, were I can't see him performing, let alone being able to get into the first team in his current form, and I fear that he might turn into another Nani- a player with huge potential, but who's attitude let him down badly.

What do you think? Can Sterling ever be as good as a lot of pundits think he will be?

I think he really could become world class yes, still got a lot to work on, especially his finishing and first touch, but its there for him if he wants it imo.
