Huddersfield Town v Millwall - The Preview

The Terriers will be looking to bounce back from last Saturday’s chastening defeat in the West Yorkshire derby at Leeds United. After a couple of indifferent results, Millwall will be hoping their hard-earned draw against Nottingham Forest at the weekend will kick start their season once again. Town triumphed in the corresponding fixture last season, when Bermudan international Nakhi Wells scored a dramatic injury-time winner on his debut.

The Town squad may include Northern Ireland international Martin Paterson, who bagged a brace in a 4-1 victory for the U21’s at Ipswich Town and long term injury absentee Antony Gerrard. Adam Hammill, top of the assists column last season and who was rumoured to be interesting Bolton Wanderers in the summer, may also come back into the reckoning. For Millwall, Carlos Edwards will be missing after suffering season ending injuries in Saturday’s draw at the New Den.

In terms of how Town might line up is anyone’s guess! This is mainly due to new boss Chris Powell experimenting with players in different positions, with the stated intention of improving a woeful defensive record. On this note, Lions boss Ian Holloway may be tempted to opt for an attacking formation and go for the jugular, with Town’s confidence low and not having won at the John Smiths stadium since March.

Prediction: Town 1-0 Millwall
