Following on from their first back to back win since December 2013, Huddersfield Town now make the short journey across the border to Lancashire rivals Blackburn Rovers.
Blackburn who are currently in 11th in the Skybet Championship will be looking to use this game to catapult themselves towards the play-offs. Tuesday night was not a happy one for the blue and white army of Lancashire. South Yorkshire rivals Rotherham, recently promoted claimed a shock 2-0 win at the New York Stadium. Goals from Arnason and Becchio ensuring that all three points remained with the millers. The most stunning statistic of this game was that Kari Arnason had failed to score since March 2011.
Huddersfield who are 17th in the league inflicted the first home defeat of the calendar year for Wolverhampton Wanderers. Goals from Harry Bunn, Sean Scannell and Conor Coady ensured the terriers took the points back to Yorkshire with them. Wolves did manage to score a consolation goal in the 71st minute through Bakary Sako, the game ending 3-1 to the away side.
This weekends match up sees Blackburn hold the psychological edge over Huddersfield. The last fixture saw Rovers overcome the Terriers 4-2 at the John Smith's Stadium. Town old boy Jordan Rhodes providing the significant damage that day by scoring an unstoppable hat-trick. Adam Hammill and Nakhi Wells were the responding scorers for that fixture.
Tomorrows fixture could see Rovers with a total of nine absentees from their starting line up. Most notably the experienced Paul Robinson, club hero David Dunn and Chris Brown. Chris Powell's team have no other absentees other than the unfortunate James Vaughan.
Speaking of strikers with a point to prove, since joining on loan from Wigan Athletic it has been clear to see that Grant Holt had made a significant impact on the terriers front line. Providing two assists in his previous game and looking a lively threat. These factors make him a sure fire candidate to be selected to spear head the Town frontline.
This is a game where there is plenty of county pride at stake. Both sets of supporters will be expecting their clubs to get physically involved and press each other in search of a positive result.
