First game yesterday under new manager, Curtis Woodhouse, and assistant boss, Ian Ashbee. A 4-1 win recorded against Beverley Town in front of a Humber Prem record attendance of 526.

Incredible stuff!

I didn't even know Hull United was a 'thing'. How did this come about? Fans disenchanted with Allam and the whole Hull Tigers shit?

Isn't Woodhouse involved in boxing now anyway?

This is Hull United's first season. Not so much anything to do with City and Allam, but I think an opportunity was spotted with the current discontent at the club. The idea was to create a 'community club' and a non-league force. They've recently handed out 50,000 lifetime passes around the city and it's schools.

They were previously St. Andrews in the same division, but they've been bought out, renamed and the owner has also bought the ground of Hall Road Rangers and moved them there. I understand an application has gone in for promotion - quite possibly a jump of a couple of divisions - what with the facilities being of a standard much higher than a local league like the Humber Prem.

Curtis Woodhouse had been manager of Goole, but they've recently been under a few financial constraints and they mutually parted ways. A week later, he was appointed the new manager at Hull United. The next day, he makes Ian Ashbee his first signing as player/assistant coach.

I've heard us called moneybags on occasion. Perhaps it's something to do with the crowds we pull in rather than some benefactor, but I'm just guessing here.

Not another moneybags side?!

Not entirely sure of finances, but don't think it's quite a 'moneybags' situation. The expense seems to be in setting the club up, finding them a home and building a support. Woodhouse tweeted earlier in the week that none of the coaching or playing staff were paid by the club currently.

A few fans in the Evo-Stik concluded we were bankrolled at the time, because there was no other way of explaining why a team on 1,500 crowds was walking a league full of 250-crowd teams.

I hadn't even heard of Hull United, though I had heard of North Ferriby United - but I believe they are bankrolled by Allam?

What step is Hull United at? County level? On crowds of 500 they'll likely whizz through a few divisions without any trouble.

Yes. However we have done suistainably over time racking up absolutely no debt unlike many others.

Any evidence Hull United aren't? An attendance of 526 is more than AFC Flyde are averaging top of the league five tiers above, assuming the Humberside League is step seven.

I wonder how a team can be bankrolled at that level though. You'd need spare cash to have an all-expenses-paid amateur outfit at that level shirley.

North Ferriby are a confusing one. I believe they're still owned by Les Hare, or he's at least involved in some way. I think they've received a healthy investment from the son-in-law of Assem Allam, but I'm not sure if that was a one-off or whether it was in exchange for part/full ownership.

Hull United are in the Humber Prem which is level 11, I think. From what's been said, their aim is to become a decent non-league side rather than having any great desire to reach the football league. The facilities at Dene Park are superb, with a 1000+ capacity (250 seated) and a clubhouse/Italian restaurant on site. There have been some suggestions of a possible expansion in the future, too.

Whether or not they'll continue to see such high attendances going forward remains to be seen. Yesterday's game was a pretty draw with it being the first for Woodhouse and Ashbee. Potentially exciting times ahead, mind!

Sorry, when I say level 11 I mean step 7.

Ian Ashbee, the one last "fuck you" from Phil Brown's reign at Deepdale. Knees of a seventy year old.

Hull United are news to me, will keep an eye out.

What exactly is a lifetime pass? Surely, it's not free entrance to every single match ever?!
I know this isn't a direct reaction to the current regime at 'ull Tahhhgars but it's an interesting time for them to start. If the shit does hit the fan big style at The KC then this is another alternative if supporters see fit to stop going.
Much better for people in the Bev/Cottingham area than North Ferriby.

"On Wednesday 20 August 2014, Hull United played their first competitive league match at their new home, Dene Park. Jamie Waltham who had vowed to make his team an affordable alternative to football fans, offered to pay any supporter which turned up to watch Hull United at this opening home match, the standard £2 entrance fee. The match broke The Humber Premier League attendance record, when 418 fans turned up. More importantly, Hull United defeated Hedon Rangers, 4–1. This remains Hull United's highest ever attendance."

Am I right in thinking this means he paid people £2 to attend the match or does this mean he paid for their entry fee?

He gave every attendee £2.
