Jaap Stam, Rio, RVP, Keane etc.

He's had loads of 'em, the lying c***.

Also Cantona was never world class. Flopped in Europe and for France. Great at bullying the likes of Swindon though.

Yeah, what GB said. Particularly the defenders, they had some real world class players in those positions through his time there.

I don't agree with his 4 and I'd say they've had more. He's doing players a disservice (to make him look even better? Or because he's still bitter about fall-outs with certain players? I dunno...)

Ferguson is clearly holding a grudge over the obvious absentees. Sir Alex and Roy Keane are shit scared to act soft in public.

All that boozing Is making him forgetful . The prick should be taken to a tree and shot now and put out of his misery before he gets worse.

It could be bitterness, or SAF could have a different definition of World class than many of us. Cantona was massively important in Fergies early years obviously and the others are unquestionably World class stars, would any of his omissions displace the players he's mentioned?

Yeh, the phrase is bandied about far too much imo.

Having just read the interview he's done with Sky this line is probably noteworthy in the context of this thread:

"There will be 100 managers in the world who will be saying their player is the best. We have this exaggeration about what a world-class player is."
So I don't think he's necessarily doing a disservice to those he doesn't give a mention, he just holds the title 'world class' in a higher regard. Perhaps he means that there's not a player in world football that he'd have taken over those mentioned at the time. For example Maldini stands head and shoulders above any defender mentioned. Especially as Ferguson later goes on to talk about consistency as one of the most important aspects of top players. Jaap Stam was an absolute monster of a defender at Utd, but he was only there for 3 years and didn't keep that level up after he'd left, probably pretty hard to when you get banned for drugging up...

The fewer "world-class" players he had, the more remarkable his achievements seem. The old dog's just bigging himself up, good to see he still has it in him to get people like SALTIRE in a frenzy.

Ferguson on Roy Keane in 2005: "My best player. When you are talking about Utd 30 or 500 years from now, he will be regarded as one of the greatest"

If the likes of Keane, Ferdinand, Van Nisterooy, Stam, Evra, Schmeichel etc. weren't world class then I have no idea what the term means.

I'm just amazed anyone takes anything he says seriously. Sycophants lap it up of course.

How Fergie played Liverpool and their plastic fans was great to watch, as a neutral......... they are still foaming at the mouth to this day.
