I think so.

Early days I know but we have a thread on promotion for people to get carried away in, so why not?

We're probably going to be here for the duration so I look forward to welcoming many of you throughout the season.

touch and go with us, you'd think you'd atleast beat a very poor Bolton side with 10 men for 15 minutes

We'll be down there but I think we might keep enough clean sheets to stay up, 6 in 13 so far.

We'll go down with you if the Yes-Man Kenny Jackett is still at the club.

Even the teams I thought would be poor are better than I thought. I think a bottom 8 or 9 fighting to avoid being in the bottom 3.

From a Bristol City point of view, today's results could not have gone better. But only if we can add to our 10 points at Cardiff on Monday.

Let's hope we turn it on for Sky again.

I'm beginning to think the teams that came up (certainly PNE and ourselves, not sure about MK) seem to be settling into this league at last. We are all, seemingly, competitve, lately anyway. I'm not saying we will all suddenly surge up the table but we seem to be competitive now which has taken some time.

Massive achievement if all three promoted teams survive this year.

Did I read a stat that said 18 of the 36 promoted clubs in the last 12 seasons finished 18th or lower.

I'm pleased that none of us (MKD, PNE and Bristol City) gave gone shit or bust financially.....yet.....in an attempt to secure our place.

Did you lot not offer about 7mil a go for Gray and Gayle? Bet you splash the cash in January.

£6m plus promotion clauses....yes. But we failed to realise that offering £1000 per week wages doesn't correlate to the fee.

I hope we've learnt.

If you take our initial stance pre season of 'ha ha ha, Brentford have quoted us £6m for Gray, we will look elsewhere'....that appeared sound.

We then couldn't attract anyone we wanted, so we were then offered Gayle (possibly to offset the Bolassie sell-on), and suddenly realised the going rate, by which time Brentford asked for more (can't blame them).

I'm glad it didn't come off, because it Woukd have probably left nothing left in the pot, and I think we have better balance bringing in Baker, Bennett and to a lesser extent Moore and Hamer.

I think the thing in all our favour is that we play footie, and if we click won't go down.

Surprised to see Charlton plummeting so rapidly. They looked half decent back in August.

I Never said that mate. Getting used to this league means we are essentially 12 games behind.
All 3 of us won't survive, I would put cash on that. All 3 are too good for L1 but this is a very good division and by god have we all learnt it quickly! A massive change in quality in 2 years for us so god knows what PNE think after 4 years away?

You just would not believe it is the same side. We had a 3 month slump last season and that was awful, but the performances in these last two months are some of the worst I have ever seen.

You say that but no opposition team have massively impressed me so far. We held Boro to a draw, we could have been out of sight against Ipswich if we took our chances and Derby only just about edged it despite having a brand new £10m midfield pairing. I don't think the quality of this league has changed much at all, inflated price tags but the same quality of player.

It'll be a battle all season long but I don't see why PNE, Bristol City and MK Dons can't scrape together more points than say Bolton, Charlton and Rotherham after 46 games. The likes of Blackburn, Forest and Huddersfield don't look amazing either.

I very much doubt that we could, even if we wanted to. There's not the resources to dip into.

Robbo made a decent point a month or so ago, talking about wages he said "well, while in League you hear the figures being thrown about for Championhip wages and think 'there must be a bit of spin on that' but then realise once you sit down with agents that it's all true".

As with Bristol City, and the Gray scenario, I think we've been naive in that respect, and are going to be scrabbling to do whatever business we can in January.

I think it surprises clubs how much a jump in standard the Championship is from League One.

Charlton you can have Powell back

He did a sound job for us and with proper backing could do again. A lot of Charlton fans would disagree with me but I'd give anything to have him back right now, a man who knows the club and cares about it. No member of staff at Charlton like that exist anymore.

I don't think we'll go down, we are starting to look Championship quality. I reckon Charlton, Bolton and MK/Rotherham (not sure which, I reckon it'll go down to the wire) will go down.

We are very unlucky at the moment, the performances bar Bristol City have been fairly solid. But, ultimately, points are the order of the day. Unless we start racking up wins we will be in the mix as well.

I can't decide on this jump in quality yet. We started the season very negatively which made teams look better than they should have IMO, and there is defo a step up in terms of teams taking chances at this level.

Since then we have adapted and look to impose ourselves a bit more (despite having a decimated defence at the moment) we've started to hold our own a bit more. Hopefully if we keep looking to be positive we can continue to pick up points here and there.

might have been my post on otib, i looked at the last 10 years and half the teams promoted had finished 18th or lower

This division is so much of a muchness .. The quality is there but anyone can really beat anyone and that's why I love it .. . So relegation certs there are not .. Bolton could easily pull away, a few back to back wins and you're nibbling at the play offs ... it's that compact.

Just means the sacking season starts early .

Interesting to see the difference in views in terms of the step of from league 1.

I agree with SF on this. No team has immensely impressed me and we have faced Boro and Derby at home already, and should have beat Ipswich.

The difference is in the final third, you get punished simple as that. That's the difference for me.

Look at Rotherham just before Evans departed....6 pts from 2 games and up the table they went.

I think we are adapting to life in The Championship, but that is no guarantee to securing points, but it is helping. We have looked much tighter, and making less mistakes. By the same token, we play a single way....352, and teams can set up to combat that.

I do think the step up this year is greater than before (IMHO), because I think more clubs are gambling a bit more financially.

Would you normally see the likes of Weimann and Johnson go to Derby? Not picking on Derby....fair play to acquiring what on paper looked two great signings.

Would QPR normally been able to keep hold of Austin (knee issues ignored!)?

It's tough at the mo', but boy is it enjoyable!

The Austin one is strange. The R's fans might be able to tell us better, but as far as I remember there wasn't really a lot of work for them to do to keep him? I remembering some rumours of Newcastle and Norwich but that was about it. Did anyone actually put in a bid? If I am honest I am surprised a team like Spurs didn't come in for him, that is after a rotation striker for there squad.

If he is fit in January I can see someone desperate to land him.

Literally half of the Premiership was interested (I know we were, very optimistically), but QPR's £15m valuation, combined with Austin's wages and age / injury past, meant it all became to big a risk for anyone to take it seems.

QPR fans can correct me, but I believe Austin walks free after this season? Guess the cost / risk is far more acceptable at that point, surely a decent sized club would snap him up.
