Very tough month for us and we've come through it virtually unscathed. 4 points off the top with a game in hand against relegation threatened Mansfield, with our key players getting back to fitness too.

Jan 3 - Lost 1-2 v Cambridge (A) (FA Cup 3rd Round) - deserved at least a replay.
Jan 8 - Drew 0-0 v Shrewsbury (H) - deserved to win that one IMO and should've had a penalty.
Jan 17 - Won 1-0 v Plymouth (A) - biggest win of the season that for me, so far.
Jan 24 - Drew 1-1 v Cheltenham (A) - away from home, but that was a slightly disappointing result against a struggling side.
Jan 31 - Won 3-2 v Cambridge (H) - 3-0 up at HT and capitulated second half. Win is a win.

8 points from 4 games is very acceptable. 50 points now from 27 games.

Jan 3rd Drew 1-1 Home v Southend
Jan 10th Won 0-2 at Exeter
Jan 17th Won 1-0 Home v Daggers
Jan 24th Won 3-0 Home v Newport
Jan 31st Won 1-5 Away at Accrington

Scored 12, conceded 2. Surely WIlder for Manager of the Month. Paid up a load of contracts at the beginning of the month, signed Holmes, Taylor and Maloney who have all been superb. Top scorers in the league and chasing that last playoff spot.

I'm bored of reading these "not good enough" comments from Bury supporters. You're in the top 7. And even if you weren't, League 2 is so distinctly average this season, you wouldn't be far off in any sense.

January 3rd - Burton 1-0 Shrewsbury - Probably deserved a point but our finishing was off. Tough place to go.
January 8th Luton 0-0 Shrewsbury - Good point. Our worst performance of the campaign, thought we were doing well in the 2nd half and dominating possession until NKP got sent off. We then defended well.
January 17th Shrewsbury 3-0 Hartelepool - Routine home win for us, we played awful 1st half but turned it on in the 2nd.
January 24th Shrewsbury 3-2 Stevenage - Brilliant win against a good Stevenage side, very pleasing to beat Mr Westley of course :)
January 31st Newport 0-1 Shrewsbury - Tough but brilliant 3 points in horrible conditions. The kind of win you need to win the title.

10 points from 5. Very pleasing, we're proving incredibly tough to beat and we've won 4 of our last 8 away games. Hopefully we can continue our run and create a small gap at the top by the end of February. We've got some interesting games coming up and each one has its own difficulties. It's going to be a really close finish and I can see still 1 of 5 teams winning the title.

Overall a very good month especially the Cup draw and the Newport result, which to me was more satisfying than the Man U result. I wouldn't say we had an excellent month only because of the D&R home draw, though it was hardly unexpected coming so soon after the cup game, and also yesterday's first half poor showing, which I believe had also to do with the upcoming cup game.

So, all in all, a satisfying month that keeps us on track for achieving our aim this year which is consolidation in league 2, plus obviously the added cash bonus we made from the cup games.

Shite month see's us finish in the bottom 2. We need to start taking our chances in games now and finishing teams off. 1 point from 12 is shocking.

The same could be said for reading your posts, With our squad we should be doing better than clinging on to 7th place as you said in a very poor league.

8 points from 15 available is a fairly decent return for a side down the bottom - I'd have liked to have beaten Oxford but to have just one defeat through the month is good for morale if nothing else and we've stopped leaking goals at such an alarming rate as well which can only be a positive!

To be fair I would read that as 8 from an available 12 as Dagenham playing us surely no longer even counts.
