Apologies if there's a thread on this elsewhere, but I haven't been able to find it.

Jokanovic is seemingly not being kept on by Watford after failing to agree a new contract with the owners which appears utterly ridiculous Quique Sanchez-Flores has been offered a contract according to rumours/reports.

It is messy.

Seems like he wants more money and a longer length contract than we are offering.

I remember seeing his interview (with I think football league show) on the pitch after the final game. He seemed very non committal about the future then, as if he knew there was a good chance his job there was finished.

I guess the Watford board have shown themselves unafraid of changing and swapping manager. If they have someone lined up with more PL managerial experience perhaps?

Sounds like we are getting the guy who won the Europa league with Atletico....

Probably a good manager but will need time to adjust which you don't get really.

Nothing about it still on the BBC or official site - I'll believe when I see it (or maybe I don't want to believe it! :()...

What it seems like is Jokanovic wanted more money than we were willing to offer, and he's been ditched as a result, disapointing but in the same way at least it's further proof that are owners won't risk the financial future of the club unlike some others.

At least its happening now (if it does..) rather than mid-August like the Pulis at Palace situation.

The turnover of managers at your place is unbelievable.

Surprised he's not being kept on, did a great job getting you promoted but fair play to your board for not overspending. At lest this is the best time to make a change, new man can come in and bring his own players in this summer.

True but 2 were out of our hands to an extent as Sannino and Garcia quit for various reasons - the former because the players didn't like his old school management and lack of English whilst Oscar was ill (and tbf hasn't had a job since)

The McKinlay situation was badly handled and this seems to be a bit of a mess at such a crucial time.

Even Zola quit and the Pozzos wanted him to stay on...

Mind you apart from the Graham Taylor spells I don't think any manager we've had in modern times has lasted more than 2 years!

Just no-one has really noticed/cared before.

Somebody said he wants a million per year over 3 years...

I suppose they don't want to have to pay him off that much in 6 months!

Better to get someone in on a rolling one year contract so you can sack them cheap ;)

They've confirmed that he won't be in charge next season and are apparently in discussions with former Atletico Madrid manager Sanchez Flores.

Interesting appointment, seems to have managed a number of very big clubs. It's a gamble to change something that wasn't broken but his experience could be vital for Watford next season, then again he's never managed in England so questions will be asked.

I doubt he'll come to work for peanuts - Slav must have really annoyed the Pozzos with his wage demands!

Sounds like the change in management is a done deal - Flores in on a 2 year contract.

Lets hope he can settle in quickly and the player and adjust to whatever tactics/formations he has.

Bit of a weird appointment from Watford. Sure, the guy won a Europa League, but apart from that his managerial career is all over the place. Don't think he's lasted in a job more than two years - either falling out with players and the club and quitting or being sacked for poor league form (Atletico should have been better than 9th and 7th place finishes despite winning the EL). He hasn't managed in England before and is just coming off an unsuccessful spell in the UAE and quit Getafe after a month.

Good luck with that...

Though Alan Curbishley would have been a ideal candidate :P1:

God, that's a bad managerial record. I reckon a much better appointment would have been Big Sam. Or is he taking a year off?

I doubt Sam would work within the structure they've got at Watford, where the manager seems to have as little power as possible.

That is true - I wouldn't be surprised if Slav had a row about lack of say in transfers.

Seems to happen at a lot of clubs though.
