So, Germany head into the last 16 not in the greatest of form. They have looked formidable defensively, not conceding a goal as yet, Hummels and Boateng look rock solid at the back. But upfront there are question marks. Muller is yet to score and they seem pretty disjointed in attack. But they are the Germans, so you can count on them to step it up in the knockouts.

Slovakia defended well against England, but don't honestly look up to that much. They were beaten by Wales, dominated by England and only beat a really poor Russia side to get through. Can they hold out in the same manner they did against England, or will the Germans extra quality help see off the plucky Slovaks?

Banana skin for Germany, or will they make short work of Slovakia?

Germany haven't impressed so far. They'll grind this one out, score early, take the foot off the pedal, then grab another late on to make it look comfortable.

A horrible draw for Slovakia, about as bad as it could get, although they are well matched to play against better sides so will play to their strengths and try to kill the game. They held England to a 0-0 last week, beat Spain 1-0 in qualifying and beat Germany a few weeks ago, albeit in a friendly. With the right run of the ball a 0-0, 1-0, 1-1 type result is quite possible, although Germany will probably have the quality to break through so a 2-0 Germany is more likely.

Slovakia have proven they are no pushovers defensively, and with Hamsik in the midfield there is always that threat for the Germans to deal with. However Germany should be winning this game, they've failed to impress really in the group stage but this is where they normally come alive, if Slovakia park the bus like they did against England then they will be punished. Early German goal and a 3-0 win.

How many teams would leave a centre back at the edge of the penalty area from a corner?

Paid off for Germany though.

Cracking goal that. Could be a stroll for Germany. Penalty.

Skrtel's name should just be changed to liability.

I have never seen Ozil score a penalty.

Good save they're saying?

Looked a poor penalty to me.

Gomez adds a second before half time after good play by Draxler, pretty much game over now just a case of how many.

Why did Draxler go off the radar anyway? Used to be very hyped a few years ago and looks brilliant in this tournament. Don't watch the bundesliga much, mind.

Germany looking really good, carried on the improvement they showed against N.Ireland.

Although they should have given Lewandowski a German passport, they'd be unstoppable.

Won that at a canter, an impressive performance from the Germans if they click into gear they'll win the whole thing. Slovakia had no answers but did have a bit of a go before the 3rd goal went in.

Thought the same.

Was superb for Schalke and was always linked to Arsenal but just completely disappeared in the press over here. Man Utd or Liverpool would be stupid not to offer silly money for him.

Maybe Reus and Shürrle took the limelight away from him.

Germany are yet to concede in the tournament and look very good going forward. I reckon it'll be Spain or Germany to win the entire thing, they've impressed me the most.

What am I thinking, Iceland or Wales instead then. Is that ok?

It's likely they'll play each other in the quarter-finals, is it really out of the question to suggest the winner will go on to win the whole thing?

I was being sarcastic, but the winner will be from the bottom half, so picking Germany or Spain is like picking Barcelona playing in Red or Blue. Get through the semi's and they've won it.

The semi's is where the interest in the Euros will die. Nobody on the other half of the draw will even make a good final
