Sometimes there won't always be an individual thread for every single match in the league each weekend. When that happens I'd like people to just generally comment in this thread. We lost to Scunthorpe yesterday in what can only be described as a woeful performance, one of the very worst in Smith's 4 year reign. We can't score, have a weak defence and the confidence of players is already running low. 15 league goals in 24 league games, 1 win 27, 1 home win since January.

It's not looking very good.

How did your team get on?

It was probably the best 2 hours of my life. Even tho it ended in a draw, and had numerous chances to win the game, but for only 11000, it was by far the best atmosphere in my 13 years as a lily white. A huge amount of credit goes to the blades for going gun ho at us from the start and we did the same. Their fans were brilliant and I hope it's the same at Brammall Lane in the reverse fixture later in the year.
Sheffield United scorer - Jose Baxter
Preston North End scorer - Andy Little
Attendance - 11058

I personally believe we needed a proven goalscorer who possess some experience, but has a chance to grow with the club. Andy Butler leaving us for Sheffield United is devastating and has created a big hole in our defence. It makes me even more annoyed that Butler isn't even getting regular game time at the Blades.
This weekend we need to go out there and get our first win, against Colchester United. Come on Saddlers!

To be honest, I hate playing Colchester - we are always awful against them and I can't see tommorrow being any different. Until Smith changes his tactic, we get some luck and we get all our best players back fit - we are going to struggle big time.

Another home game, another dreadful performance.

15 league goals in 24 league games, 1 home win since January and 2 wins in 24 games now. We have a whole lot of injuries to vital players, pathetic home attendances and a poor budget. We've done well to stay in league one for 7 years, but every year we do that we are fighting the financial realities of the current football world. Smith needs players fit and firing quickly or else I fear for his job.

Anyone have any thoughts on what's going on at Leyton Orient...
Gaffer just randomly tells the interviewer that he's got 'one game to sort it out'.
Seems to me he's already half way out the door, not what I wanted/expected

Yep, Slade told he can leave if they don't win Tuesday. Ironically they overachieved on a relatively modest budget and now they are underachieving with a big budget. It's the problem with new owners. No clue on perspective, just see money in the pockets and think it means instant success.

Last night just goes to show how crazy this league is this year.

We beat Preston, who then give away a 3 goal lead at home to Chesterfield, The Blades score 3 in the last 10 minutes to win 3-2 at Colchester who beat promotion favourites Orient away with 10 men 2-0, we then lose to Rochdale 4-0 in a complete hammering and if that's not strange enough Bradford who lost to play-off chasing Swindon at home on Saturday go and beat seemingly untouchable MK Dons 2-1 at Stadium MK! All seems very weird to me.

The league is wide open.

I love Dean Smith, but he can't take many 4-0 defeats like last night.

Precisely the same reason I do, seems to get better and more competititve each season! I love the premier league to watch it, but I wouldn't want Walsall there for longer than a season. Too much money, to much publicity, ran by money men who want to make the richer clubs richer and the poor even more isolated. It's wrong, but from the outside in - it's entertaining.

Great win for us yesterday. Sawyers back to his best, Bradshaw with another goal and the defence absolutely on top. 5 cleansheets already this season. Doncaster were absolutely awful, they really need to sack Dickov and get someone with more experience in, that or they are in for a long season.

Rough game coming up against Bristol City on Saturday! Let's hope we can take some sort of result, although I'm expecting absolutely nothing to be honest!
