We have signed James Vaughan on loan from Bradford. He is a better goalscorer than any of our current strikers and should be a decent signing.

Telegraph journo reporting Tyler Walker has been recalled by Forest. A big blow even though they will have to pay a recall fee.

7 Out and 0 in in January for us. Essential budget cutting work under taken.

Does look like Theo Vassell and Paddy Osadebe are coming in from Macclesfield after having their contracts cancelled.
Thoughts? Silkman72 Moss Rose Silkmen

Osadebe has a terrible attitude - just when you thought you were getting rid of them! Seems to have done ok for Macc, but did nothing at Cambridge previously. It's a shame as he has talent, but broke through similar time to when we had Jay Emmanuel-Thomas and he obviously looked up to him - Two lazy wasters.

Hahaha that sounds great. Let's hope he has matured since joining Macc!

Andy Cook has returned to us on loan from Mansfield. An excellent signing, but possibly not enough to save us.

Signed a young striker today from West Ham, Anthony Scully on an 18 month deal, a very busy window for us.

Matt Lund returns, paid (!) a small fee to Scunny. Good signing if he repeats his previous form with us and stays fit.

Ryan Delaney leaves to join Bolton - promising when he arrived, but slipped down the pecking order since BBM took over.

We managed to get 4 in, Devante Cole, Fejiri Okenabirhie both perms and Jacob Ramsey and JASON Lokilo on loan, strikers and attacking midfielders so hopefully we start putting some of our chances away.

We ended up with fewer players than we started the window with.

Outs:
Mikael Ndoli (loan - sent back to Bournemouth)
Ouss Cisse (Hasn't played since August, gone on loan to Orient)
Bradley Garmston (Only played Pisspot Trophy games this season, released, signed for Grimsby)
Alex Jakubiak (Top scorer, but wasn't playing much - loan terminated and back to Watford)
Lee Hodson (Couldn't get in the team, loaned to St Mirren)
Mark Marshall (Regular sub appearances, but no more than that, released and gone to Northampton)

Ins:
John Akinde (The big striker we've been crying out for for months)
Jordan Roberts (Forward who can play wide - on loan from Ipswich)
Jordan Graham (Winger who has potential to be excellent - on loan from Wolves)

I think we're in a much better place in terms of our starting line up. Our defence is one of the best in the league, it's the forward areas that needed strengthening and they certainly have been. Akinde and Roberts have made an instant impression, and I'm excited to see what Graham can do. Ben Pringle has also come into contention, as has Matty Willock who is finally fit. A midfield selection from Alfie Jones, Pringle, Willock, Stuart O'Keefe, Olly Lee, Jordan Graham and Regan Charles-Cook is as strong as any bar one or two in the league, and a indictment of what can be put together on a limited budget. With Akinde, Roberts, Mandron and Hanlan as forward options, added to that same solid defence, we have a great chance of having a positive rest of the season.

All that said, we now have quite a small defensive unit - Hodson leaving was supposedly due to a signing being made (allegedly Rhys Bennett), but that fell through. Looking at a couple of free agents early this week with regards to that, but should we get up to a squad of 20/21 then that'd be great.

In (10):
Goalkeeper: Charlie Andrew, 20 (Hull City)
Defender: Akeem Hinds, 20 (free agent)
Defender: TJ Eyoma, 20 (on loan from Tottenham to the end of the season)
Midfielder: Liam Bridcutt, 30 (on loan from Nottingham Forest to the end of the season)
Midfielder: Tayo Edun, 21 (Fulham)
Midfielder: Conor Coventry, 19 (on loan from West Ham to the end of the season)
Winger: Zack Elbouzedi, 21 (Waterford)
Striker: Tom Hopper, 26 (Southend United)
Striker: Anthony Scully, 20 (West Ham United)
Striker: Tyreece John-Jules, 18 (on loan from Arsenal to the end of the season)

Out (8):
Goalkeeper: Grant Smith, 26 (Boreham Wood - Loan)
Defender: Ben Coker, 29 (Cambridge United - Loan)
Defender: Harry Toffolo, 24 (Huddersfield Town)
Midfielder: Michael O’Connor, 32 (Salford City)
Midfielder: Callum Connolly, 22 (loan from Everton ended)
Winger: Bruno Andrade, 26 (Salford City)
Striker: John Akinde, 30 (Gillingham)
Striker: Tyler Walker, 23 (loan from Nottingham Forest ended)

A weird transfer window for us. We lost four of our starting eleven although getting six-figure fees for Toffolo and Andrade (who were both out of contract in the summer) as well as another six-figures for Akinde will help in the summer, and until then, getting Akinde, who'd have been one of our top earners, either partially or fully off the wage bill will have allowed more movement in.

On the flip side you can see where MA's going with his recruitment. We're now up to 5-7 young internationals (which means our game against AFCW will probably be postponed at the end of March). The squad age has lowered as well. The real killer was losing Walker at such late notice, despite being told it'd be sorted in good time by Forest.

On the whole, the transfer window for us has been a bit of a gamble, albeit a calculated one. We've sold anyone with re-sale value who was out of contract in the summer, lowered the age of the squad to the point out midfield and forward ares are generally that of an U21 side and still have glaring weaknesses - lack any real height or physicality through the side. Weaker than when we started it, yet can still see what we're trying to do going forward. We were never likely to be able to part sort all the squad deficiencies in one window but it'll be a rocky road of inconsistent performances through to the end of the season for us.

This guy looks to have something about him albeit on a 20 minue viewing, genuine pace, strength and ability, hopefully he'll get the full 90 minutes tomorrow.
Also very impressed with Bridcutt, fingers crossed he'll sign for us in the summer.

We're close to signing Alan Sheehan after his release from Luton before the transfer deadline. Presumably a short term deal ahead of potentially something next season as well.

Thoughts Kenneth E End That Fat Centre Half BelizeHatter

Great bloke. Rumour is he was a major part in keeping everything together after Nathan Jones left last season and was therefore hoped he’d take a coaching role here but obviously still thinks he’s got something to give as a player.

Primarily played centre half here since being brought in and if you’re looking to play out from the back there’s probably no better at it. Could get bullied by the bigger centre forwards (see your boy Rhead giving him a a bit of trouble in league 2 a few years back, basically hated him into getting sent off) and isn’t exactly quick any longer. He’s got a wand of a left foot and takes a brilliant set piece, but suspicion is his legs are going. Obviously has the ability to play left back and actually put in a couple of useful performances there this season for us but was clearly not something he could continue to do long term.

I’d suggest he will be valuable for his experience and leadership as much as anything. Hope he does well

Cheers, sounds one we'll probably look to be keeping beyond the summer then.

We've reportedly agreed a deal to sign Gustavo Hamer from PEC Zwolle for €1.5m. Must be pretty confident we're going up.

Not a player transfer, but a share transfer.

Dan Altman, an American sports statistics whiz, together with his banker business partner, has/is in the process of buying a minority stake in Rochdale, possibly in an attempt to emulate the Brentford model of profitable transfer dealings. He has previously worked with Swansea.

Could be good if it works out, although with the example of Bury only a few miles away nobody is getting carried away just yet.

Interesting times...

I keep hearing about the Brentford model. I too think its positive, but it mustn't be forgotten that their owner has pumped well over £100m into the club.

Peterborough have let Maddison go for nothing. I didn’t expect that, even in the current circumstances. The vengeance season starting well then.

He was always leaving because he said he wouldn't sign a new deal. Posh can still get money for him if he signs a new deal at Hull apparently.

I don't see how they will. He is not under contract, over 24 and wasn't part of their youth setup. Not sure how contractually he can still play for Hull, on loan, after 30th June? I guess it means he's contractually a permanent Hull City player for 1 month.

It was a loan with an agreement to buy IIRC. I know that sounds daft given they could, in theory, re-sign him on a free but I think Posh were happy to leave him in the reserves after his rejected the Charlton move and McCann was desperate for him. Not massive money obviously but something.

Luke Imp rumours around here that we are trying to sign goalkeeper Josh Vickers.
Is he out of contract and more importantly is he any good?

If he is to be signed as first choice, it will be a departure from our usual stance of signing up and coming loan keepers. (Martinez, Rodak, Iverson)
