We’ve signed Jack Payne from Lincoln as well as Tyler Smith, a striker on a season long loan from Sheff United.

Alex Woodyard confirmed for us. Very happy with that.

If he gets through the trial without breaking down you will have done very well.
Well, I think he has been training with us since Monday, but as you imply this one is filed under wrap in cotton wool. I wish him well, never nice to see players with serious injuries. Probably worth a punt.

I'm getting a bit nervous about where the dosh is coming from, albeit happy with the signings and contracts offered to retain some of our better players. Paranoia setting in!

Nice enough lad, and decent enough when he did play but you’ll do well to get 10 games out of him.

I lost count the amount of times he was supposed to return from injury only to then be told he had a set back in training.

One time it was “he’s ready, he’s worked really hard to get back fit”, played an u23 game and was subbed after about 3 minutes injured. Edit: Just searched back, it was 12 minutes.

Wish him hell but personally think he’s now just trying to cling onto a dream when he should probably be looking at a career away from football.

I love Camara but...

He never stops running, he will win the ball back all the time, he will make a complete fool of one of the opposition (nutmeg a speciality) and the completely muck up a simple pass.

He can run past a defender like he ain't there, put in a decent cross and is great at passing the ball to the opposition keeper.

I'd be happy if he had renewed his contract. He is a crowd favourite but he will frustrate the hell out of you.

Centre half. He did play a couple of games for us at left back this season but it was in a pinch as he doesn’t have the legs for it anymore really.

He is hugely respected here for his leadership and widely credited for playing a big part in keeping the team together when Nathan Jones left in the middle of the League 1 season. At times it felt like a combination of him, Mick Harford and Alan McCormack where managing that team and most Town fans would like to see him back at some point in a coaching role.

On the pitch he was Defensively solid but could get found out against bigger centre forwards as he isn’t big as centre halves go. As I said he’s not quick. If you play out from the back (which the Exeter I remember us playing certainly did!) he is great because he is very good on the ball and can pick a pass brilliantly, not afraid to carry the ball into midfield to change things up and is ok with being pressed high. Takes a superb set piece which is interesting for a centre half!

If you’re going with a young team next season he’s worth having around just for the leadership alone IMO.
Turns out the rumour was a load of bollocks as we’ve signed Rory McArdle instead! Thanks anyway :)

Sounds like Yannick Bolasie when he played for us!

He didn't go on to do too badly.

Looks like we are looking at Nathan Baxter a keeper from Chelsea. If he’s anywhere near as good as last year’s loanee, Benda from Swansea then I’ll be happy.

just looking at his stats, seems to have been at Chelsea since 2016 and loans around non-league, league 2 and the SPL. I’m sure he’s one of these players we get from Premier league sides that are ‘highly rated’

Richard Keogh signs. We’ll see how that plays out I guess but if he’s over his injury quickly and gets our centre backs into shape quickly then it could be a very good signing...

I’m still too annoyed about Gilbey’s rumoured price to be too happy about it though

I’ll be amazed if he’s as good as Benda. We obviously need 2 keepers so maybe this lad is the back up - although, tbh, that’s not usually how PL loans usually work!

Haha. We've just taken a "highly-rated" keeper from Birmingham of all places, who barely escaped relegation to this division last year. I wish clubs would just be honest and say "we've taken a punt on this lad who may or may not be better than we've already got but don't get too excited". We had another "highly rated" loan keeper last year, who turned out to be such a dud we had to replace him with another one.

Mind you, Aaron Ramsdale two years ago single-handedly kept us in this division so there is the occasional gem out there.

The fact that Barnsley and Luton stayed up when weighted PPG had them relegated and all the other positions that changed dramatically.

Don't you think a 3 month gap had something more to do with the strange results?

Charlton didnt even have their top scorer which they would have done had the season not been stopped.

Weighted PPG or not, the money you spent on that team should have had you in the top positions all season, same with Posh

It seems like it could be good news all round if you can get new owners in sharpish.

Obviously I'm pleased that Gilbey for the moment at least will be staying, but I don't want another club to die because of terrible owners.

Ben Coker is the next out of Sincil Bank - season long loan to Stevenage - odd signing by DC anyway. Been a one way door this week!

Blimey we've 'shed' a lot these past few weeks, can't really think of any more outgoings other than possibly Alex Bradley and Adebayo-Smith. Would love to know the wages that have gone - it must be a fair old whack. Needs must and all that.

Leaves us with a first team squad of 12/13?

This will be Appleton's squad to live or die by,

The lad who's just signed a professional deal will probably head out at some point as well.

I still maintain Coker would have got more games had DC stayed. I think he knew Toffolo would be off and had Coker as back-up ready to step in, in January. Only played once here but you'd imagine he'd be a more than adequate signing at NL level.

Liam Bridcutt signs, absolutely delighted. Fantastic for us on loan last season albeit it was only 5 games. I think he'll be captain as well.

We’ve got Marvin Emnes on trial. Think he was quite good at Middlesborough about 10 years ago and has done more or less nothing after that and hasn’t played a game since 2018.

Wellens loves a player who has had injury problems historically so could be an interesting punt!!

The club has released an interview with him. When asked what he offers the team, he said “running...I love to run.”

An absolutely great signing. Just what was needed with our very young looking squad. Think Bridcutt would have gone straight into most teams in this League if not in the Championship still.
