Yes but in league one he was playing against pub teams ,this year its boltonalona great players give him space
whilst I appreciate you trying to take the piss out of Bolton an Ian Evatt side will press high and not give much space - exactly as he did at Barrow.

Kelvin Mellor signs, ex-Blackpool/Plymouth and Bradford. Wasn't expecting that, we need another midfielder/attacker really. We can't rely on Leitch-Smith and Stockton for goals all season, is McAlinden better up top or out wide? Dunno.

Sam Levelle linked with a move to us, any rumours over there in Bradford-by-the Sea?

We've signed Joshua Griffiths on loan from West Brom - 18 year old keeper (19 in 3 weeks) who's played for England u18 and England u20s. Will be number 1 until Scott Flinders returns.

I'm sceptical about this personally.

3 yellow and 2 red cards in 31 games last season....
Not fussed about that. I was just wondering whether any Morecambe fans could tell us whether he was any good. I do believe he was captain and their player of the year. Maybe that's why they have brought in our former right back Kelvin Mellor?

It would make sense after signing Mellor annoyingly. I thought he was coming in to provide competition for our only other right back Cooney. Lavelle is easily our best player, thought he'd be league 1 bound at some point. My optimism for the season will take a big hit if he goes but you must be offering money we can't turn down as he still has time left on his contract.

This is why I question the rumour. Stuart McCall, only yesterday, stated that clubs in our league are not paying transfer fees, to try and pacify our fans for letting Vaughan go for free you would suspect. But actually, we paid an undisclosed fee to Wolves to bring in Elliott Watt last month!. I presume you would want a decent transfer fee to prise him away, unless of course we have done a Tranmere and unsettled the player to such an extent that he is forcing a move from you? We shall see in the coming days whether anything in this rumour, I suppose

Back to Mellor, sympathies mate. He came to us on the back of a really good season with Blackpool 2 years ago, however, he was a massive letdown. For such a big lad, he is easily brushed aside by much smaller players, and I have never seen a player pass the ball out of touch so much. Hopefully for you he rediscovers his Blackpool form

I see you have also signed Knight-Percival. He came to us from Shrewsbury with a tag of being a Rolls Royce defender. He did actually have a decent first season with us, but after that he turned from Rolls Royce to Reliant Robin, so again, hopefully for you, you get the Rolls Royce version

Good luck for the season, always had a soft spot for Morecambe

Holloway is quite literally doing the football equivalent of spending his pocket money in Lidl in those weird metal baskets in the middle that have pressure washers for £15.99 and electric drills for a fiver. None of you above have the vast experience I do in exposing over expenditure in the EFL so I am doing you the courtesy of kindly asking you to retract those idiotic and slanderous statements before I release my legal team.

Hopefully Adams can sort them out oddly in a similar sort of way Jimbo used to, saving careers from the scrapheap.

Sam loves it here I think, so it would take a lot presumably. He will have 1 eye on progressing higher but I would have thought he'd stay and see how much we have improved as a side under Derek, now it's his first full season managing us.

However we do have a history of cocking things up in regards to getting decent fees for our best players though, so it wouldn't shock me if it's cheap.

Abumere Ogogo who has been told he can leave -- I'm hearing Mansfield have today made an enquiry. Good strong midfielder.

"A spending spree"... We haven't spent a penny on a fee to bring a player in for starters. And secondly we've signed 3 new players. Hardly a "spree" is it? Last season we had a squad of lets say 24. We had 9 on contract for the first day of pre season so the first team squad has been cut as well as other areas of the club.

The priority for any football club, as well as what goes on in the local community, is what goes on on the pitch. We have an extensive college setup, we do a lot of work internationally in Asia and North America, we do a shit ton in the community, we had a hotel that was run by the club on top of those that work behind the scenes in the club shop, in events, groundsman etc. I'm not saying the number on our pay roll would have been ridiculous, but it would have been one of the leading ones in League 2. Unfortunately, if we want to get back to League 1, we need to bring players in as we only had 9 and whilst it's regrettable, you're bound to see some redundancies in other departments that have to take a backseat. We're not happy at having to make cuts and it's hardly a decision that will have been taken lightly.

I wonder if you think similar to clubs that voted not to continue the season last season due to the financial implications that would be involved? The same ones that are signings players on the regular (and actually paying fees for them) and are happy to restart the season in near enough the exact same circumstances that we now face with the new season coming up. Probably not because in that case, we got relegated and you were absolutely made up.

So we've basically swapped Williams and Whitehouse, be interesting to see who does better.

Grimsby have got themselves a big talent in Willo, if he can get fit and near his form of December 2018 he'll tear up this league.

Both had massive injuries too, but Whitehouse was fit last season so you'd have to say he's the safer bet for game time. Had Williams had any other injuries before that leg break in August? Just read up on that a bit, didn't realise it was Zak Mills that did it.

Think he ruptured his ACL on loan at MK Dons from Fulham, then had quite a few set backs on the way back from that.

Had finally got a proper pre-season in last summer and was all set to be our main man according to Cooper, only to break his leg about 2 minutes into the 1st game of the season.

Been told its legit.

Probably to replace Tomlinson who’s likely to get sacked for misconduct soon.

That’s a rate good signing for this level, if it’s true anyway.

According to someone on Deva Chat Harrogate have made a substantial offer for LB Joel Taylor, who was given a 2-year deal for this very possibility. Class player at this level.

We’ve rejected a bid from Hull for Randell Williams. I expect it was a bid just to test the water, but I fully expect he’ll be gone in a couple of weeks. Annoyingly, Watford have a 40% sell on clause so we won’t do too well out of the deal...

He’s got a year left on his deal so if we get £500k for him we’ll be doing well. He’ll be a huge loss so Taylor will need to somehow replace him.

The problem now is that under normal circumstances a £500,000 player would expect, quite rightly, wages commensurate with that fee. A max of £2000 under the cap doesn’t get anywhere near.

Apart from the fact I don’t think he’s worth half that!

maximum is for the squad not each player
