Copied and pasted from our forum.

Goalkeepers: (0)

Defenders: (4)

Max Melbourne, 21
Ben Coker, 31
Cian Bolger, 28
Aaron Lewis, 22

Midfielders: (7)
James Jones, 24
Tayo Edun, 22
Jack Payne, 25
Jorge Grant, 25
Alex Bradley, 21
Zack Elbouzedi, 22
Harry Anderson, 23

Strikers: (3)
Tom Hopper, 26
Anthony Scully, 21
Jordan Adebayo-Smith, 19

Coker and Payne were made available for transfer in January and I'm guessing still are. Adebayo-Smith is a young lad and will probably head out on loan again. Likewise Bradley who spent the season at Harrogate.

So a squad of 14 currently, but realistically we're down to 10 or 12.

A lot of this obviously depends on how we do on Monday.

But we've got a ton of players out of contract at the end of the season (in bold).

So the below list is everyone excluding loan players.

2 stars for those I think we'll get rid of, 1 star for the maybes.

To be honest even Bayo might be a "maybe" but I reckon they'll find some way to keep him around, he's such a talisman.

Whichever division we end up in, we'll be scraping for the loanees, rough non-league diamonds, and players with higher-league experience on their way down. Same as it ever was, then.

Ryan ALLSOP G June 2021

Lost 3 main players - Callum Morton, Scott Wharton (both loans) and Jordan Turnbull since the end of the season and with Oliver/Hoskins key to the way we have played - so a lot of work to do for Curle with a Covid Budget.

surely everyone's got a "Covid budget" though? Even the heavily sugar daddied clubs are hurting, if not more so, since they'll have retained players on big £££ with no ticket money coming in...

Well yes obviously, but we might have been able to afford to keep Turnbull otherwise, plus with everyone probably getting a promotion pay rise, we are in a slightly different situation. Northampton Saints have had to renegotiate pay cuts with all players, I haven't seen many football clubs do that in public yet.

I can’t see any recruitment happening until we know what’s happening with next season.

Evans said he's been talking to players but no formal contract offers until we have a confirmed start date

Appleton's been given the ok to sign players as long as they fit into all of the EFL's salary cap proposals the clubs have had sent out.

Or in the case of some clubs, totally ignored those proposals...

It's a reasonable core but I very much doubt anyone else will be coming in unless fans are allowed into the stadium, so it will be youth as backup.

A very bloated squad. Downes will be sold for a decent fee, hopefully we can shift Nolan, Nsiala and Donacien too. Need a decent striker and a left back.

Bloated? Not half! Already well over the cap!

I think off the top of my head most of those are out of contract next summer so they will be a huge clear out and we'll be fine. A fair few we'll be looking to get rid of too. Plenty of good enough players to get up next year if we had a competent manager.

Ipswich have a fair few players still there from the McCarthy days. Simply cannot believe Lambert is still manager, that’s Dickov staying with us for 2 and a half years level wtfery.

I have no faith in Lambert at all. He genuinely has no clue. Our worst 2 finishes in 60 years and he has a 5 year extension given to him. Baffling

I think you're vastly underestimating the chairman and the manager. They have their targets and have spoken about the fact they're working on transfers publicly. Carlton Morris is imminently joining on loan and with Brittain/Walsh still having not signed contracts, we'll have to bring in some senior players in defence as well as in midfield.

Thankfully the 4 events at the stadium will have helped us out a little, and if I know Pete Winkelman he will be viewing this situation as an opportunity to push up the table. Whether we can or not who knows, but he'll see it like that.

No left back, one fit CB who isn't fancied and Whatmough whos came back from this 3rd major knee op
Central midfield ok, no worse than last season and Bryn Morris who was out for a year managed 2 90s in the playoffs. Will be terrible if we lose Curtis as we won't be able to use the cash to buy a decent replacment. Light up top having lost Pitman and Hawkins. RH-F is an unknown in league football. Salary cap is delaying all our potential moves for Cameron McGeehan and Sean Raggett as well as extending Lee Browns expired contract and signing Steven Seddon from birmingham and possibly Manny Monthe from Tranmere.
