Big game, but City will continue their league form I reckon to increase their lead at the top of the table.

1-2

Talking points...

We've not lost at Old Trafford in forty matches.
City and Pep are the darlings of the media, with pundits queuing up to praise them.
We've just beaten Arsenal away.
City have suffered a dip in attacking prowess and have just tasted their first loss of the season.
Pogba's out.
We can defend, unlike most Premier League sides.
Pep has only lost one of six league matches against Jose.
Imagine the boner on Silkyman if City win (small and well-worn but sturdy).
Lukaku couldn't hit a cow's arse with a banjo from two yards.
If City win they'll have accrued an eleven point lead at the top of the table.
Jose has never lost a home Premier League match played on a Sunday.

Conclusion...

2-1 to City, would be a lot more confident had Pogba been available or a comparably important City player (De Bruyne/Fernandinho) been missing.

With Pogba I would have been confident of getting a point, maybe even three. Without him I can't see United getting anything. Jose will be forced to set up for the draw and City have too much attacking talent to be held back for 90 minutes. 0-3, with two goals coming late on as United are forced to attack. Would take a 0-0 despite being 8 points behind already.

Can see this being a draw tbh with City dominant but being clawed back by a solitary chance late on by the home side. Without Pogba most of Utd's creativity disappears so they'll settle for the draw here I reckon.

Interesting to note that Saltire posted in this thread before he posted in the Merseyside derby thread.

weve got the better team better manager better fans. 3 0 to city. 3 1 if the ref feels bad for them and gifts a penno.

This will be the 1st PL match I'll watch for weeks, thanks to my HSV playing at home on Saturday. I hope ManU will win this one (did I really write this? ;) )

Did I miss something during my PL absence? De Gea at ManCity? Or what do you mean? The "all Manchester team" would consist of 1 ManU and 10 ManCity players?

‘Form goes out of the window in the derby’

I’ve seen Gerard Wiekens keeping Ronaldo in his pocket. I’ve seen Benjani make it 2-0 at Old Trafford. (I’ve seen C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate.)

I’ve seen some right shit somehow grind out a result.

Glory hunting since 1989. Hard old slog in the 90s but there’s still some glory to be hunted in ignominious failure.

Can Jose afford to park the bus? Surely they have to go for it knowing that they are behind even if they won both of the head to heads?

I hate derbies because they can go anywhere. Sitting back and launching it to the big men up front might be the best tactic for them. That and set pieces are where City have seemed more vulnerable this year. There’s surely no way De Gea can play as well as he did against Arsenal again and you’d expect City to get something from the game if they were in the position to have 33 shots. I’d obviously take a draw now.

This should be a very interesting game of Attack vs Defence.

Transferring Silva out for Sterling 2 games ago was the best move I ever made.

Did the exact same.

One horrific defensive blunder each. Relieved to go in level at half-time.

Mourinho will be pleased to be going in level at half time but that's just an indication that he knows City are the better side and that's why they'll win the league.
Get Aguero on Pep. Dont fucking Klopp me son.

Well, one team in this match is trying to play football. And it isn't United.

It could only be Otamendi who would gift United an equaliser they simply don't deserve. The hopeless Argentinian let a hit-and-hope cross go over him and Delph couldn't do anything with a bouncing ball that was past him before he could respond to a situation he should never have been in. Credit to Rashford for scoring so well from the opportunity, but his Christmas has surely come early.

Apart from that it's been a match of City trying to unpick a United defence that has spent as much time trying to get in the referees earhole as they have repelling the waves of attacks coming at them. They've done well on the latter, but I so dislike seeing the former.

Some of United's winding-up antics bear the hallmark of classic Maurinho cynicism and it's a shame that such a great club should be resorting to that sort of thing. I'm truly disappointed in them.

Game on in the second half and United might just pinch it. But if there is any justice in football (which is never guaranteed) then City should go on to win.

Gundowan on for the second half to replace Kompany who seems to have acquired an injury of some sort.

The door is now open, United. The door is now wide open.

Not really. Kompany barely featued in the first half other than making a foul. Dont see it making much difference.

Lukaku is proving to be a total car crash in his own area.
