Never thought would find myself using these words but they’d have been better off keeping Westley. Think the only thing that can save them now is Macc getting more points taken off otherwise they are done for.

Assuming Macclesfield have no further points deducted, it’s surely the last roll of the dice for Stevenage isn’t it?

100%. As a Barnet fan I have very little respect for Westley, but Slade is part of the small club of absolutely useless F grade managers completely guaranteed to create a total mess wherever he goes. No redeeming features. He is Mark McGhee levels of bad.

Stevenage now also being referred to an independent review over a game they postponed due to international call ups. It sounds like they're being stitched up a little, but fuck it, throw the book at em!!

To be fair to Russ, he built easily the best Orient side I've seen in my lifetime - Took him 4 seasons mind and a near on relegation but he nearly took us to the Championship.

Having said that, after he left us he lost all his credit he banked up with ourselves and Cardiff to an extent for stablising them. He's a certain stubborn type of man who doesn't always get on with everyone.

Although I agree Westley hasn't been great in his last couple of jobs, his record at Stevenage was decent in his two previous spells and I think Phill Wallace was trying to get a reaction from the players and the fans with an appointment that's worked before. Kind of like how Martin Allen always seem to do well at Barnet but nowhere else.

To be honest, I thought Stevenage would start to pick up a few results once he was appointed but I think they have accepted they are as good as relegated now.
He did Ok with us, for one whole season anyway. (Allen that is)

It's unlikely they'll get anything more than a ticking off if they are found guilty, after all Stevenage requested the postponement and the EFL said 'OK'

If Stevenage go down will they change their name back to Borough?

I think all non-league teams should be required to change their suffix to something more appropriately tinpot.

United, City, Town, Rovers, County, Athletic, Albion and Wanderers... these names should not be allowed for non-league teams, neither should having no suffix at all.

Instead they should get to choose from a list that includes Borough, as well as things such as Hamlet, Corinthians, Diamonds, Terriers, Harriers, Spartans, Moors, RMI, Alexandra, 'and Redbridge'...

can Notts and Redbridge get back into the league at the first attempt and regain their 'County' title? Will Wrexham Diamonds ever get back, and how long will Hartlepool Hamlet be stuck down there?

I guess the news now applies to here, but Bolton have parted ways with Keith Hill. Suprised by this, they'd have been strong favourites next season with him there IMO.

Gary Bowyer linked with Bolton; if they didn’t rate Parkinson on the back of years of success here, they’re going to love that dull as dishwater water fraud.

Bowyer's just looking to collect all the northern 'B' teams. Get this Bolton job and then all he needs is Barnsley, Barrow and Burnley for his life to be complete.

I’d say Basford United (had to Google them), Bamber Bridge and Buxton are more his level but as long as he doesn’t come back here good luck to him.

Harsh to pick on Grimsby I feel in this debate when they have had a black manager in recent times?

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/s...LIVER-HOLT-football-really-taking-racism.html

It might be a worthwhile debate generally but does fall down in this case by just pointing out 2 teams - one who had a black manager and another who had to tragically replace a manager who died so suddenly.
We also publically invited Sol Campbell to get in touch with the club to arrange an interview...which he didn't take us up on. Obviously it's an important issue, but it's an absolute trash article.

"WHO IS WHITE." Fuck off Daily Mail, you don't usually take exception to whitewashing.

I just don’t get the premise. I doubt any prospective manager, black or white, wants a job based on any sort of quota system. And I fail to see how forcing owners to pay lip service to interviewing a black candidate for their manager’s vacancy achieves anything.

It’s the same with players - if they’re good enough no owner would care a shite about what colour they are. There’s a cycle to break here, though. I’d imagine many black candidates don’t even apply because they perceive it to be a white man’s closed shop.

I think it was a strange article for the Mail who usually think everything is done for PC reasons.

He did the other week..

I think that doesn't help - he seems to be the main voice but has had has jobs and failed.

Not hasn't got jobs at all.

It’s not about them getting the job though, it’s about getting BAME candidates in the interview process to be able to demonstrate they are “good enough”.

Once they are in the interview process it’s up to them to show there competency. Too often BAME candidates do not even get that chance, either because as you say they are put off applying or even starting as a coach in the first place due to the old boys club, or because of an unconscious bias. That’s what the rule seeks to achieve.

There’s also the case that A lot of BAME players just leave the game and don’t bother with coaching even if they want too, because they don’t see the progression for them in the coaching arena because of this. If clubs are mandated or at least encouraged to give interviews to these candidates then it’s more incentive for those players to stay in the game.

But football must be the most inclusive of workplaces nowadays - being good enough is all that matters.

Most owners who sack a manager usually have another one lined up and the vacancy doesn’t get to the interview stage. Parachuting in a token BAME candidate is fucking demeaning.

The thing is they don’t get to show they are “good enough” as they don’t get in the interview room in the first place is the issue the rule tries to solve.
