Morais was a Kewell signing and gleeful excitement ensured from our management team.

Maamria to Kewell is a bit of a shift in thinking.

Neil Cox has become the bookies favourite to become our new manager, he's currently the assistant at Notts County.

He's from Scunny and played here which is where the link comes from, no clue if we actually want him. He's very inexperienced as he's just been an assistant for years.

Neil Cox has done an interview and said he's only interested in a managers job which will be stable and he won't be sacked after 7 or 8 games. That rules us out then.

Keith Hill's odds have been shortening, I would take him in a heartbeat but I think he knows better than to come here.

Cox seems a genuine possibility, would be a bit weird to loser our assistant to a manager’s job at a higher level. He’s always come across well, but obviously very hard to know how much input/impact an assistant has.

It's solely because he's from Scunthorpe that we're interested, I don't think anyone has a good idea if he is actually any good.

Heard Bishop heading back to Scunny, possible in back room role.

If we do appoint Cox, I can see him being the assistant manager. It would be a very inexperieced duo but it's about time we did something different and put some faith in a manager.

Neil Cox appointed as new manager. It's a bit of risk with his inexperience but it's about time we tried something different out. Nice to have a man from Scunthorpe as manager too.

Good luck to him, seems a very sound bloke and will be a loss for us. Just hope he’s not seen too much of our weird scouting data. :D

Yep looks like Mark Molesley for us a coach at Bournemouth who has worked on the side at Weymouth and enjoyed back to back promotions. Seems very highly rated. Actually quite refreshing to see us not go for a ‘name’

What exactly is wrong at Southend? Is it massive debt?

We have the obvious tax debt at the moment causing current embargo but the main debt and there is a lot is to another company owned by Ron Martin so debt to the owner himself so it’s not like we have strict repayment plans for the debt. The club operates at a huge loss which Ron covers and blames on Roots Hall being past it’s sell by date mainly. The current money issues he blames on terrible performance on the pitch leading to loss of forecasted revenues and the fact his other business is property meaning assets are not liquid so therefore it can be a long time before funding is received to cover the club imagine this is all being magnified by COVID situation.

The council have recently guaranteed the future of the club as we are going to build hundreds of new homes with the stadium and this is how Ron is going to get his money out of the club (it’s the only way he can). The recent winding up order court adjournments are due to us having a refinancing plan which I believe will be coming from the council to press ahead with the project. It all seems dodgy with money coming in to be used for stadium project but then being used to pay off a tax bill but Ron has never painted a picture that we are in severe trouble he always says nothing to worry about and things are moving along nicely the with the council etc so we all really don’t know as fans how bad it really is..

Thanks for replying and good luck for next season. I missed our big day out when we won at Roots Hall in the Fa Cup about 5 years ago because I was on holiday.

His Weymouth side were the best footballing side (after us) I saw in the division last season - clearly trusts his players to play an expansive, possession based style of game and utilise the full width of the pitch.

That's a huge blow for the Terras though if he takes the Southend job what with his Bournemouth connections too.

Looks as though we're set to appoint Hayden Mullins as assistant manager.

Who next I wonder. They’ve got the funds and squad to go up always felt held back by their manager, arguably should have made play-offs last season.

Hope Neville & co get bored and the bubble bursts. Out of all the ‘bankrolled’ clubs, Salford are 100% the worst.

It sounds like they have. I thought Salford were doing well ? On another note this sums Olly up. When you played Mansfield last season he waited over 1/2 hour to speak with Coughlan about the Gas. Coughlan never showed up and Olly could'nt believe it. He just wanted to know what was going on at Rovers. Olly could'nt believe Coughlan did'nt make the time to talk about Rovers. I know Ian is a Bristolian & legend but this is a reason we will always love him & not give the time of day to Coughlan.

Cowley will be in with a shout or rather they might look at him. I know The '92' had questions over Alexander's style and Cowley won't be as purist as they'd like but he knows how to add structure and build a Club and I think Salford need that. Everything I read about them is how poor they are off the pitch despite the money spent on it.

Not convinced he'll want to drop back to L2, though.

You only have to hear reports back from fans who have visited to know how bad it is off the field.

I don’t think Salford recruit particularly well since being in the league, bit of a myth that, they recruit expensively, which is fine but you need other avenues - Trust me I know.

May I ask what you’ve heard?

We sold out the away end, literally 2 or 3 portaloo's, very little facilities to cater for the 1500 fans in the away end at all. Its literally a mechano set quickly clobbered together that has awful views and not really suitable for the numbers.
