We never take massive amounts to MK normally about 1000 as there are lots of Town fans who will still not set foot into that ground, I have been a few times nothing will stop me from supporting my team just don't buy anything when I am their and normally piss all over the toilet floor.
Stop giving me ideas..

Thank you so much for funding franchise football, we hope you enjoy your day (not to much though) ;)

In all seriousness you wont make a dent on what Wolves spent when attending our stadium the other year, i think it was in the region of £150,000+ with ticket sales, food & drink without home fans sales, hotel rooms etc.
We were never going to match Wolves, considering the size of the clubs

Also they are only an hour away on the train so a lot easier to get to. 5,000 is still a cracking effort just hope your supports dont go home happy! ;)

Is there many pubs around for pre match beers?

I'll give you a tip Gerry. I imagine a lot of City will have one of my locals for the day, The Bull & Butcher in Fenny Stratford. Nice now after a refurbishment and very much an old style pub. Fully recommend it.

Fenny also has 4 other pubs all in close walking distance, Red Lion (By the canal, better in the summer), Maltsters, Swan Hotel and The Chequers although that is quite small. Its a 25 minute walk to the ground down Watling Street.

I'll be in the other pub I like a bit further out, won't mention the name of that though!

If pissing on a grey, bland concrete floor is your protest then you crack on. Would have thought the splash back means your sitting in piss covered shoes though.....

Still actually deciding whether to go or not, money is tight for me to say the least, and if I go to this then I can confidently say I won't be able to afford to go to wembley, however it's unlikely that i will be able to afford the trip to wembley in the first place

Both, really
Do I need to explain or are you not old enough to remember MK Dons stealing a League position and becoming the dangerous entrance into US style franchising of Football

AFC Wimbledon brought more fans than their average home attendance and even drunk the bar dry in the away end when we first played them. You're all welcome at stadium:mk!

I'm with you on that, pal. I won't set foot inside Arsenal's ground, not since the bastards ditched Woolwich for the leafy suburbs of Drayton Park. Bloody franchise! And what about Sheffield Wednesday, eh? Ever since they moved out of Bramall Lane and then Olive Grove, they've been the archetypal fucking franchise. Owlerton?! Not even in the same city at the time! And Wolves????!! Well, fuck me, it's been fucking downhill ever since we moved from Blakenhall. I have been boycotting Molineux since 1889 because of that. Fucking amateurs! What is the country coming to? I tell you that nice Mr Forage won't allow this kind of shenanigans!

We need a lot more people who consider urinating on their own shoes an absolute honour, and would gladly micturate on HRH Prince Philip's brogues in protest at this franchising fascism!

Honestly, I quite like MK Dons, they've probably done more for their local community (Milton Keynes before some smart arse brings up Wimbledon) than most clubs have in their far longer history.

Have to agree there. We had a good time in MK last season. The atmosphere was friendly and they were playing good football. Even better this season. Occasionally bump into MK Dons fans at Cherwell Valley on the M40 on the way up to The Promised Land (as we call Wolverhampton): good bunch.
I guess some people are still bitterly unhappy that our capital city is now London, not Colchester. U's fans boycott all London grounds, I believe.
Personally, I don't see why MK Dons keep the "Dons" part. Dump it. AFC Wimbledon don't call themselves AFC Wimble Keynes. They'd be better off changing their name to MK United. On the other hand, they could attract sponsorship by calling themselves MKDonalds.

In fact, Pete W and MK Dons probably **have** done a lot for the community in Wimbledon because AFC Wimbledon are the epitome of a community club.

Hmmm. This debate again? When the whole thing first happened, I despised the MK franchise and swore I would never acknowledge them as a football club. I actively wanted them to go out of business and would ridicule anyone who claimed to follow them... They tore the heart out of a local community and stole a football league place that by rights they should have had to earn on merit. I utterly loathed them.

But 10 years on, its easy to see the positive side of the move. Wimbledon fans have their club back again and in much better shape than before they reformed. They own their ground instead of playing at an empty Selhurst, have had a great time climbing the leagues and have a new stadium on the way. As for MK, what youve got now is a new generation of fans who are able to support a local side instead of following man-yoo. Thats got to be a good thing imho and its not their fault that their club was stolen so why abuse them for it? Anyone over 30 or so that supports MK Dons strikes me as a bit strange I guess but each to their own.

I see no point in loathing them anymore. They arent going anywhere! All that said, I hope we keep our record of never having lost to them on saturday. :D

It's not their fans per se, it's what the club represents and the fact the FL actually let them get away with it.

I've been saying this for the past few years. We don't need the 'Dons' suffix anymore because we're firmly established as Milton Keynes's club now and are making history for ourselves (and hopefully adding another promotion to it this season) rather than a hangover from Wimbledon FC's death. But it doesn't go down well here so I've gone quiet on it in recent times, despite it's clear long-term logic in regard to our identity.

That aside, I think the latest direction that most talk is moving to now Alli's sale has been resolved is curiously for an 18 year-old, his legacy. I think it's very likely he'll go on to be our best ever academy product by some margin, but it also brings our vision for that development side of the club's ambition full circle - a possible future superstar born and raised in MK, solely a product of our youth system. That's been the dream for that side of the club and now the income from his sale gives us the chance to get the sort of training facilities required to produce not just another Alli, but many more from local and regional young talent. Alli sets a benchmark and hopefully soon a role model now for all future MK academy scholars to aspire to.

Living in the area it is plan to see MK growing as a football club and being very active in the community and even more proactive in their youth set up.

That said I'd rather shit in my hands and clap than accept their existence as being good for the game.

Bit of a shame this thread has descended down this route. Thought it was meant to discuss the game Saturday?

Sadly if we were 10th I suspect we wouldn't have made it passed page 2 yet, however Bacchus and his opening paragraph has probably now guaranteed this will run to page 10.

Wake me up when it's Saturday.

Any match thread including Bristol :D has a minimum of 6 pages regardless of content, they love to talk about their team, A LOT.

Just over 4,000 tickets sold judging by online sales, should be 5k if POTD is an option.
