Sacked in the morning!

So, which manager is feeling the heat? Who is next for the chop?

Wilkin at Wrexham and Scott at Aldershot must be under huge pressure to turn their respective clubs around.

Pressure is building on Alan Lord, as we drift away from the playoff places and towards the bottom half. Calls for a 3rd spell for Gannon or maybe serial CN winner Liam Watson.

As I said on the match thread Wilkin must be on borrowed time, with the players he has they should be comfortably in the top 10 not just above relegation.

I know they have games in hand but 2 wins in 14 league games is terrible and losing 4-0 at home to the bottom side to boot. I guess the cup run has saved him a little.

I saw you had a poor defeat to Trinity yesterday not least helped by two dismissals!

Would you fancy Gary Simpson? - decent at spotting talent, granted his football is a little dull to say the least but I think he would be a decent option should Lord leave.

What are fans opinions of Gannon at the moment? - would it split the fanbase or are the majority in favour of another return?

Tony Burman at Dartford must be on thin ice too. Shows just how far Torquay have fell and Altrincham have risen as they are both on the same points now in Midtable.

Andy Scott Football Genius (TM) must be close to the shove after Shots' second half yesterday - I haven't seen such a dispirited side at SB in quite a while.

Wilkin should be sent to the gallows for what he's done to that Wrexham side. Predictable failure as well, had my doubts even before they hired him. Different ball game managing Wrexham to Nuneaton.

Andy Scott is doing miracles on a small budget, and Aldershot would be insane not to keep him for the next 8 years at least. I'm hoping they win next week so that fuckwit remains in charge :)

I'd like Wilkin to stay. He's brought in some good players, but hasn't really found a proper system to use them. You can see this with Jennings. We've signed too many strikers and are having to play them in midfield and on the wing because we don't have enough in those areas.

He's going to have a lot of work to do in the summer if he stays.

4-0 at home to what is without a doubt the worst side in the league bar none. If he had any honour he wouldn't wait t be sacked he would walk, but we know from the way he sent his Nuneaton side out to whine and cheat, that he has none.

Wilkins's too cautious, that's his problem. I said after our game that he'd brought his Nuneaton mentality to a much bigger Club.

I get the impression that Burman is almost untouchable there.

The thing is he hasn't been recently. In fact he's put too much in attack. Yesterday you'd think we played a 4-4-2, but in reality we played a 4-2-4 with Jennings and York too far forward. When Hunt was here, he could easily have played on the left, but Wilkin had to accommodate all of his attacking options so he barely played. And Hunt's performance against Stoke showed he should have been playing more often.

Anyway if Wilkin does go there is an obvious candidate to take over. Our new coach Carl Darlington. Two league titles with TNS and with a UEFA A licence.

I think we're stuck with him, he would have been gone by now otherwise. I'm guessing we can't afford to sack him.

Stupid decision to give him a 3 year deal in the first place. Even more so without some sort of clause in it.

the problem is though is that he also teaches on the FAW coaching courses, would he want to ditch quite a lucrative deal for being a manager?

I do think Wilkin's living on the edge at the moment. this is the sort of form that got Morrell sacked

You're right. They would never sack him. If he isn't in charge there it will because he has left.

Unfortunately for them, due to being a Club legend, most fans would like him to stay. He can't take them anywhere else, he should walk away at the end of the season.

I didn't know about Darlington teaching the course. I just thought he'd completed it.

I think Morrell was actually in better form when he left, so Wilkin really needs to do something quick. One simple thing would be to take away the captaincy from Ashton. Ignoring the rumours about off-field issues, I think he's a terrible captain. Always complaining, mouthing off at the ref. I'd prefer if he gave it to Carrington. He's going to be here when Ashton is gone in the summer.

Do you think Wilkin would still be here if you got knocked out in the first round of the FA cup?

Yeah a dubious sending off/penalty just before half time but another red card just after. We actually created a few chances with 9 men.
Simpson I'm not sure on to be honest. Gannon would definitely split opinion this time round, even though most agree we would have never been relegated had he stayed rather than been sacked. Not sure whether his approach would work in the Conference North in a part time league. Saying that he is doing very well at Northwich currently.

If the league form was just as bad probably not. Then again we probably couldn't afford to sack him without the additional income. I think if there is going to be any change then it'll near the end of the season so he'll have plenty of time to turn it around.

I really dont know what Wrexham have to do to become a decent side. I rated Wilkin as a manager and the signings have been decent. This season is another below par effort unfortunately. He is on thin ice, but it should never have come to this. Maybe he wasnt ruthless enough at the start.

He was originally on a 2 year deal that would have ended at the end of this season I believe, but in a bid to help our cash flow following admistration Scott and Bullivant agreed to split their pay over a 3 year contract. So we are paying them the same amount of money as we were pre-administration just over an extra 12 months.

Any other manager would have been gone after a defeat to a team three divisions below, or even defeat to bottom of the league OR EVEN a run of one win in eleven (that's 9 defeats too).

He also has the arrogance to come out and say how he's under no pressure at all, just to rub it in and that.

The genius is on the verge of breaking a club record - five straight home defeats - not even Dean Holdsworth could manage that. Impressive. Although, our chairman probably thinks this is a good thing.

The first half on Saturday, you actually played some decent stuff, and should arguably have been ahead before Adams decides to pull his worldy out of nowhere. No way did you deserve to be 0-2 down.

Must admit, if I were a Shots fan though, that second half would have seriously worried me. No heart whatsoever, the fight had completely gone, you can tell he's lost the dressing room. Brett Williams looked a poor imitation of himself.

In severe peril if you can't afford to sack him.

Sums up how my feelings on Saturday's game perfectly. I am just hoping that we can play first halfs like Saturday and scrape the 5 wins we probably need to stay up!
