Hopefully last nights battle against Scunny has given the team a kick up the arsenal and they play to their potential on Saturday.
Being a local one it could either way but I am leaning towards a Pies win.

Be interesting how many of the 8 changes to the side last night keep their place, I would hope most of them.

It'll be no good for us to lose this one. We really needed to set the stall out for the season last Saturday and get a win there; opening the season with 3 losses would be bad and bring last years debacle crashing back into our minds. We need a win here just to settle us

Hopefully the team will fancy this. We really let ourselves down against Coventry and I expect a decent home crowd for the first game of the season against a relatively local side.

As LEP says, I couldn't guess the team, but wouldn't be surprised to see Milsom and Grant start.

Should be a good atmosphere and a decent gate how many are you expecting to bring?

Will be interesting to see if Forte starts on Saturday.

I wouldn't expect a particularly decent turnout. Two poor performances off the back of relegation will see to that. I suppose it should be 1000+ but if it is I can't see it being many over. We'll probably lose.

Would guess at a similar number to what went to Hillsborough, between 1200-1500. We are garbage though, the lure of a day on the piss in Notts is the only attraction.

It probably won't be, certain people will probably be knackered after 120 mins in the rain on Tuesday, but I would like to see:

Fitzsimons
Tootle, Duffy, Brisley, Dicko/Jones
Hawkridge/Allesandra, Yates, Milsom, Grant
Forte, Ameobi

Would be harsh to drop Collin after the game at Coventry.

Agree with the rest of the team though

Just over 900 sold in advance before they went off sale. Lots won't be bothering to get tickets so it should be a reasonable following.

Thanks to the sterling efforts of our beloved leaders to first humiliate then drag Town into oblivion - or to be more accurate my reluctance to fund such antics - this'll be my first glimpse of what Caldwell's cobbled together this season.

Though Grimsby fans were pretty generous the defeat I witnessed via 'Jeff' was all too familiar, as were the failings reported by mates at the game. Meanwhile there were no positives from our midweek humping at Hillsborough.

As for Notts the bloke covering their game at Cov for the C5 goals round-up described them being taken apart, however their efforts at Scunny suggests there's lead in their pencil after all.

So tomorrow?

The manager who's won only four of his last thirty two matches - with us and Wigan - could become an early frontrunner in the sack race unless fans with knives already sharpened don't see reasons to be cheerful.

And the genius that hired and allowed him to populate his staff still further only last week will have to explain why yet another pay-off has been added to the Club's debt...

Is Nolan unaware of the general principle of having your best players on the pitch?

Is there a reason this Ugwu fella is actively trying to get himself sent off? If I have to stay till the end of the match then so does he.

Although big fan of him actually hitting two people in the face and only getting a yellow whilst an innocuous trip gets a dubious red.

Get Stead off too - he's embarrassing himself now.

Ref's gone rogue, Ugwu's somehow got away with a yellow for two red card fouls and Wiseman managed to get sent off when it was barely a foul.

Grant is our best player by a distance that isn't even funny. Probably the best player in the league, to be honest.

Hard to take much else from that tbh. Chesterfield are really bad at football but may have a future in UFC, were very lucky to only finish with one red card.

That was a trash game - only Grant and Hawkridge leave with any sort of praise. Chesterfield were abysmal - they were in disarray for 90 minutes - reckless across the pitch and didn't offer anything before they went down to 10 let alone after that.

Stead and Ameobi doesn't work. Stead was genuinely shambolic. Hewitt and Yates had no composure on the ball in the middle either. We just had nothing going forward until Grant and Forte came on.

Commo reckoned we did ok on the ball just poor in the final third, and for the most part defended County's direct long ball stuff well. Sending off ruined everything and it sounded totally innocuous, so not sure what the ref was doing there. Sounds like he let County get away with some bad tackles that were much worse than Wisemans. They stressed to say that whilst we lost, we were trying to play football and it's obviously a work in progress. County however they said looked really poor didn't want to play football and just wanted to Sunday league punt it every time and reckoned they might be in trouble come the end if the season.

We need some confidence from somewhere, fast. I honestly reckon that's all it is. Get that bit more composure and quality in the final 3rd and we should be ok. If Ugwu finishes that 1-on-1 maybe it's a different game. Typical of us at the minute

Sounds like we stroked it around ok, just crap in the final third? Not the case? I really have little faith in the manager, if he can't make this squad of players work in this league he might as well pack in. Hopefully we can start turning it around soon, badly need a few goals and a bit of luck

Chesterfield are the prime example of why you can't play football in this league. Looks pretty but the players aren't good enough to execute it. They then decided it was a good idea to try and kick ten bells out of us

Strange game, both sides very poor for large parts. Notts need to dump Hewitt in midfield, two poor games starting there. Yates looks like he will be decent. Better of the two and alongside Milsom he should do well. Hawkridge is an unlucky player, should have scored but for a very good clearance. Played well over 90 mins.

Grant played a blinder. The lad has talent. We are lucky to have him on loan.

Our crowd are a bit embarrassing at times. The stick Collin and Jones get is unbelievable. Thought Collin did nothing wrong, wasting time was the right thing to do. Sometimes getting rid quickly isn't the best thing. Alessandra is a large reason why Jones has been caught. He goes missing and leaves Jones one on two. Alessandra was really poor today.

Bad start for Chesterfield. When you get relegated and lose three in the bounce it's tough. Getting out of the losing habit is tough

Oh and please drop Stead. It's like watching an old dog walking round in pain, knowing the best thing to do is just put him down, but the owner won't give up on him cause he still puts in effort

We've won this league playing good football a few times recently. With more competent managers like, but I can't see us giving it up to be a lump it team

Cauldwell said he wanted to get Chesterfield out of the league, he's going fine so far. Keep it going

I thought Dan Jones was fine. Not sure why he's the one who has been ceremoniously chosen as this season's boo boy. Strong in the tackle, bags off pace which he uses well going forward and to cover defensively and a solid left foot (his set pieces today weren't good enough however).

I'd like to see Alessandra playing off the striker instead as well (Forte or Ameobi) - Grant on the left.

Depends what your definition of good football is - you tended to play ten successful passes in your own half, not get anywhere, give up and then launch the ball in the general direction of O'Grady from somewhere near the half way line.

Wiseman's tackle was never a red, but Ugwu should've gone twice over and Hird was very lucky not to at the end.

We don't play any football really but it's entirely by design and created pretty much all of the chances in the game. We're going to win lots of games like that this season, not pretty but if it can get us in the top seven then all is well.

Oh dear that's not good. I think it's Anyons inability to command at set pieces that's hurting us more than anything at the minute. Our first 2 opponents have loved attacking the aerial balls, and you need to be able to defend it in this league. Lee is probably the better keeper, but has the same problem coming for those balls, so God knows how we sort it.

Chesterfield were very poor. Reminded me of us when we got relegated very scared to get beat and instead of playing to strengths they seemed to foul anything that came into their half. Alike us when we came down hard to see anything other than a bottom half finish for them too much about them to be in trouble but not enough to challenge. Evatt seemed to be losing his cool with those around him.

Notts won but again picked the wrong team in midfield stronger teams would have punished us. Jones is an utter liability.
