Yes.

Curtis Thompson is SO good. No idea who Vale are after, Dumbuya's out of contract I guess

Only 'kids' we have starting are CT and Hayhurst and CT you can't afford and WH we signed only a few weeks ago

Kid is such a generic term. Bajner is out of contract in 6 months, Hollis could be a possibility, as is Dumbuya I guess but doubt it's anyone else

Fuck sake, we should be winning this. Beaten by another bizarre lucky goal.

Fucking hell, deserved at least a point there, shame Garry Thompson missed that one on one and then went to sleep for their second goal. Gotta take your chances.

At least we're not playing shit though. Murphy was class for Sheff Utd, the rest...meh

I thought we were the better side 1st half easily and thought you were the better side 2nd half . overall i thought we had that extra bit of quality and maybe just deserved it. Enjoyed the game a lot more than normal tonight too your a pretty decent side in my opinion

Agree about the two halves, difference was we didn't have the quality to finish our 2/3 chances and all you basically had was one all game and scored it and Murphy's screamer and that's what decided it.

As I said though, at least we weren't as bad as have been, we should have enough just need to learn to take our chances...even though the best finisher in the club doesn't get in the squad.

Sounds like we were asleep for the first as well - it's easier to accept we're a bunch of try hards with no pace or talent if we are at least not gifting goals away to top 5 sides.

We just let them take the throw-in quickly cod Hayhurst wasn't switched on then Muzzy gave Murphy a bit too much room, no worse than what every team does 5 times a game, hardly put it in the net for them, just gave him too much space and he twatted it in the top corner...Neither goal was terrible defending, just both avoidable. Pretty much the only two sniffs they got all game.

It was a good performance, not calling it incredible but we did enough to get a result against Sheff Utd. Thompson, Adams, Mullins and Noble were all brilliant, Jones (his free kicks man, soul destroyingly bad) was shite though, as was Hayhurst and Garry Thompson.

I'm beyond arsed about the idea of whether we play well or not now, I have literally no idea what kind of team we're even trying to be at the minute. Our January signings have been a fucking disaster.

Bit harsh after tonight, January was a fucking disaster purely because we signed 7 players and only one actually contributes...but we've finally found a bit of a system that works - unfortunately it only half works. Back 4 look alright - Jones sitting allowing Noble and Thompson to get forward worked really well too, Noble had his best game in ages and was picking the ball up in more advanced positions. Bajner does his job well despite it being a bit of a thankless task with not a lot of glory on offer but then GT and WH just do. not. fit. at. all...and neither are bad players, they just aren't direct or pacy enough to just sit on a full back and cause them problems and then run in behind or nip onto second balls off Bajner, Hayhusrt plays so deep that genuinely a stranger wouldn't be able to tell if him or Adams were the full-back half the time. I actually liked the late move to get Newton on at LB and push Adams on but I don't think Newton had chance to even cross the half way line unfortunately.

and that's where January comes in really. Petrasso and a left-sided player to play that role and we'd be set to go. Not Kaiyne fucking Woolery and Alefe fucking Santos.

Perhaps Daniels will reappear to give our season a second wind?

Just wish we had some pacey wide men to hit the byline every now and again. The football at the moment is dull.

That's it innit, but we signed Hayhurst and Daniels for some reason. It's like there's no thought as to how the players might fit together, individually I think they're decent.

He signed Daniels to 'play as a Number 10' and then since he signed we haven't played a system that has a 'number 10'.

It was another game that was screaming out for Ronan Murray at 1-1 with the way second balls were bouncing off Bajner and how high up the pitch we were pressing them (which was excellent to see actually). Disheartening to just watch Harrad spend the entire second half warming up.

Tough though, watching tonight you'd probably only say Hayhurst was bad and needs dropping but is Adams good enough going forward to play there instead? He's got a bit more pace and directness I suppose.

Exactly. I see no scenario where our team suits a system requiring a number ten, so why sign him? Particularly when we have such obvious needs elsewhere. Ie someone who can actually run.

Newton is bizarre as well. I fear we're just signing players because they're there and Derry/Abbott quite like them rather than because there's actually some kind of rationale behind it.

Any of their goals look offside tonight ?:tw:

I have the unfortunate feeling that Derry thinks Harrad is a better footballer than Murray. I'll be upset if this is about 'attitude' or 'passion'.

That is good news, Harrad is every inch the Lower League 2 striker if that.

Edit - Thinking about, should Harrad have been a sign that signings were going to be more miss than hit?

Done is one hell of a signing - we could of done with him for the final push to be honest.

He's scored 4 and 3 of them have been from 2 yards out haven't they? He didn't really impress me tonight, granted it was one game, he runs around a shit ton and chases everything but there was too many times he got the ball and had a defender isolated and couldn't beat them or allowed the defender to recover too easily. No idea what happened with his goal but it was 2 yards out and it took about 3 seconds to go in and nearly spun wide, dunno if he completely shanked it or something but he seems to be a striker benefitting from some good fortune, which happens when you're in form I guess.

He's never struck me as a player I'd sign to play at a higher level though. Jamie Murphy is clearly Sheff Utd's best player and I'm not sure it's even remotely close.

the amount of balls in the box we used to have that any half decent striker would've gotten on the end of was ridiculous. Done atm seems to be getting into the right places our other strikers weren't. Whether from 2, 10 or 30 yards out they only count once.

I thoughty County's right back (Dambuya?) was nowhere near up to standard. Bajner brings down balls well for you and on another day if that Anderson lad had scored it could have been a different tale.

County did try hard but Sheff U had quite a bit more technical ability. Murphy is class
