What a night, it's up there with the best games I've ever been to. The Stags fans were relentless and outsung the County fans and when we were chanting yellows it was electric it really was an amazing experience to be in that crowd last night.

As for the game it was clear that it was an Adam Murray squad, everyone was determined and giving everything to the cause. It was clear only 1 team turned up for it as we did our homework but there were few close calls like the Bennings last ditch tackle which surely would have been a goal. Thought the team mixed it up well, maybe looking for the long ball at times but the difference being they were actually looking up to find somebody but we also played nice stuff at times. Probably should have been 2-3 nil at half time with Carroll tipping it one on the bar.

Green was excellent in his game again, he just needs that goal now to set him off for the season as he gives defences so much grief with his strength and pace.

On to the next one now as this is only the starting point there's 44 still to go.

What complete drivel.

What you are saying effectively is that you lot have little care in beating the side 12 miles away? ... If you say so.

Comparing yourself to Sheffield United is probably the most deluded comment yet from a spireite. You've had a good couple of seasons, we haven't. Pull your head from out your Y-fronts.

For one, no where do I say we're on their level, if anything, I describe us as being their small town lessers with something to prove - you thick fuck.

For another, I didn't say it didn't mean owt to us. I merely said that it currently meant more to you as you had more to prove - once again, thick fuck.

So you've ranted about two things I didn't say - once more for good luck.. Thick fuck :)

We have made 14 signings this summer ourselves, and still need to 'gel' but have so far avoided to play so poorly.

Are you a bit thick? Or do you always read what you want into things instead of what was actually written?

The 4-2-3-1 worked a treat. In midfield it brought the best out of Chapman and Clements who were able to show their range of passing. Up front Matt Green got the support that he needed.

Matt Green had a great game, by the way. His strength, speed and energy was phenomenal. He didn't get a goal but he played in Nathan Thomas who hit the bar and got the assist for Clements' goal. That was the kind of performance that I remember. We've really lacked that calibre of forward play for the past few seasons.

Forgot this was last night, bit of a surprise result but with the amount of signing County have made it's going to take time to gel.
It's the same for us we had essentially a new squad only 3 players who started at Notts was here last season personally I think we are slightly underrated this season rather than it being that much of a suprise result.

The first goal was better than I thought. Great play from Green & a nice finish from Clements (who had his best game in a Stags shirt last night)

Chris Clements was outstanding, and he was at Sheffield Wednesday. Honestly believe now he's in a side who like to play abit he will show us the quality he has this season. More of that desire and we will be fine this season. I was so much more confident with the Beast in goal.

Unsurprising result, and as expected the Notts fans on here are gentleman about it. As said by everyone the Stags were by far the better side and created the best 4 chances of the game. We bottled it, we never look up for the derby game against Mansfield, it's the way it's been for a while now. The second half was hardly a football match. Mansfield played on a very naive ref brilliantly all second half , and made it stop start and slowed the game down. Between all the extended stoppages , the away side looked more threatening throughout. Never seen a ref so oblivious to 45 mins of time wasting not that Mansfield needed to do it being clearly better all game.

It was at the end of the day " a famous, famous victory for the Stags" and "which has left Notts rooted on 3 points"(from 2 games ?!?!?)

Luckily it's just one game and at the start of a long season as a Mansfield fan said on here if they had lost 3-0, Stagsnet would be calling for Murray to be sacked instead 90 mins later he's strutting on the meadow lane turf like he's Pep.
That's football for ya

County fans have admitted we was the superior side, and they didn't really have a choice considering the gulf on the night. Read between the line though and they have all had a little dig at the same time, but that's fair enough because I imagine last night was a tough one to take considering the overall feeling that you were going to beat us and then what actually happened.

Don't have any problems with you lot on here though, and I certainly can't blame you being a bit annoyed by that performence.

Chesterfield lot on the other hand, despite being a league above still can't get away! Maybe we should start taking a interest in them again!

Well yes, but your fellow spireite suggested it meant more to us than you guys - obviously not the case

I didn't rule out being our metaphorical cup final as in some respects it is but as both Notts & ourselves are bigger clubs it's naturally a bigger deal for the smaller rival.

When did this turn into a Mansfield v Chesterfield match thread?
I wondered that Chesterfield seem to be like that annoying little brother "Look at me look at me I'm so big and important" when really you think they would be looking forward to there derby with Sheff Utd

Did you have to get someone to read it for you or is you that struggles with reading?

Brilliant result and performance to go with it, one of the better games since we went up (I didn't go to Chesterfield). We came out with such a tempo and County just didn't know how to deal with it and we should have been 2 up at the break. We obviously tried to take the sting out of the game in the second half and stop any momentum building up which is understandable in these types of games. County looked okay but overplayed it and it cost them. Comments of us being long ball are atypical when we beat someone who don't like it, but sometimes you have to look long as it's the better ball or safer option.

An important win for us after two games where we were unconvincing and now Murray and the players have proved they can get results. We need to take this momentum now into the next 2 games and kick on. I was surprised to see the same team as Carlisle but each of them showed why they were in the side, in particular Clements and Tafazolli.

Oi, Chesterfield fans, shoo

This was all a bit funny, we played Mansfield in front of about 3000 last season and no-one gave a fuck. I stayed at home. Why was this suddenly a big deal, there were Notts fans round me about as furious as if we were getting hammered by Forest and calling for Moniz's head. We've won 2 and then just looked a bit lacklustre in the 3rd game with about 5 important players out. Our fans are weird sometimes.

An utterly turgid night. 7,500 home fans (not silent though Adam, though it was v good atmosphere from both sets) and we come up with that. 'Twas ever thus at Notts though - crap performance whenever there are a large number of 'floaters' there.

Deserved win for the Stags, we badly missed our suspended full-backs - Adams wasn't fit enough to support the attacks and Bennett is not a FB, so when the wingers got in promising positions they had to turn and give it back, where Mansfield pressed impressively. It made it look like we were playing a negative system, when in reality the problem was the personnel.

Thank Christ Swerts is back on Tuesday, and Sharpe surely must come in for Adams.

Also, Stead looked done in - must question the wisdom of his playing up top on his own for the third time in six days. Spencer should surely have started at Huddersfield, or last night. He looks like he is getting p*ssed off as a no2 choice.

And Jenner has done bob all so far. The only bright spark for me was Burke, who created our best chance with a great ball across the box that the Mansfield defender just touched away from Spencer. I'd start him Tuesday ahead of Jenner.

Adams just didn't look fit, I think he will be eventually though, not sure Sharpe would be any further along as both missed part of pre-season. Amevor and Swerts are clearly head and shoulders above Bennett as a full-back - and Hewitt will be too, kinda easy to forget we've signed him but he should be an excellent outlet on the right when he's fit - whether in midfield or defence.

I actually thought Jenner did alright to be honest, looked the most like scoring out of any Notts player, don't really get the dislike of him, he did alright against Stevenage and Huddersfield too - just another, like Stead, that shouldn't be playing 3 games in 9 days. It's beyond silly - especially when you've got the likes of Burke and Snijders in reserve.

I'd definitely start Spencer on Tuesday night ahead of Stead. Swerts is back and should obviously start at right-back too. I hope Milsom and Hewitt aren't too far away from being fit - on paper they were two of our best signings in the summer.

You're a clever lad aren't you? Impeccable use of the least creative swear word in the swear word universe.

You suggested that we to you are currently a similar proposition to what Sheffield United are to yourselves, which is clearly stupid as the Blades are a potential big club going through a lean period whereas you lot are hairy-palmed, mama-fancying, banjo-plucking, beast-perving popeyed wankpipes with massive misplaced delusion of grandeur.

Can't believe that you hadn't noticed such a glaringly obvious difference, ya silly wee daft lad.

Put sumit coherent together about that, then...

Mansfield were great. Not sure they played much in terms of impressive football, but it wasn't the night for that. They played with a pace and intensity that we never came close to matching. Both goals (plus the one that hit the bar) came from basic defensive errors, but ones they forced with how much they got about us and chased everything.

There were a couple of quite nasty tackles early on that went unpunished and the game was up as soon as no one on our side saw fit to give anything back. I do think that it was very obvious we played a full team in a really intense games on Tuesday night and we also really missed Swerts and Amevor, who might've helped cut out the simple goals and helped us escape with a 0-0 draw after playing badly. Also reckon that Sprockels injury just after half time was significant - we could've really done with that last sub to inject a bit of pace into the side with Snijders.

Whether it means much for either team over a season I don't know. Mansfield played the occasion really well but it'll be nigh on impossible to play with that intensity every week, whereas I hope we're more like the team who were so impressive in our first two games, but it's definitely a wake up call.

Fair reflection I feel and possibly the arrogance of some of your players maybe played into our hands. Notts have a great team on paper but also you have depth in there which will be handy at some point in the season whereas we have tight knit group but as soon as injuries occur the squad will become weaker. Overall we're two games in to the season and so there's no need to panic for both sides.

Agreed on the motivation, the midfielder coming out and saying "we will win" came across as arrogant, misguided and basically made him look a dick. Even if the odds are county would win which we all perfectly understood, you just don't say stuff like that - in the USA fine, here, nah.

Am also pleased the fans all behaved themsevles before and after the game with the exception of a smoke bomb - after notts police seemed to think it would turn into WWIII
