Well it's that time of year when you let a load of dead wood go and pray you keep hold of some of the better players you have.

We've released
Lewis Buxton - shame, solid servant but he's been injury prone for last 2 years
Paul Corry
Rhys McCabe
Gary Jailbird Madine
Dejan Kehlar
Joe hitabird Mattock
Kamil Zayatte
Jacques fucking shit Maghoma
Matt Young
Rafa Floro
Giles (mia) Coke

We've offered deals to Chris Maguire, Glenn Loovens, Kieran Lee, Chris Kirkland and Jose Semedo.

I'm pleased with our retain list this summer, the only one released I'm really disappointed to see leave is Lewis Buxton as when he's fit he's one of the best right backs in the league, but I fully understand the decision as his injury record for the last 2 years has been dreadful. Pleased to see the back of the likes of McCabe, Madine, Corry, and Kelhar as they were all eating up a chunk of our wage budget without contributing a thing. Maghoma also falls into that category, far too inconsistent and one of the laziest players I've seen, expect him to do very well for a League One club.

Shame about Madine, a few years ago he was one of the best young prospects in the football league, his off field antics have fucked him.

We'll probably announce our list in a few days. Hoping we look at Jay Emanuel Thomas from Bristol City though, surprised they let him go.

A single unitary authority for urban Dorset
Released:
Ian Harte - About 106 years old now but still has that left boot
Miles Addison - Go get him Blackpool!
Josh McQuoid - Has had 6 weeks of good form in his entire career, and he's 25. Always sad to see an academy product go never really been up to it.
Joe Partington - Another academy product, who would have had a long career with us if we were still L1/L2.
Mohamed Coulibaly - Great 45 minutes against Real Madrid in a friendly once....
Benji Buchel - Lichtenstein's (only?) goalkeeper.

Darryl Flahaven has also asked to be released in order to find one last contract for first team football

We've released JET - where to start with that one? See the huge great thread in the L1 section. Also Dave Richards, a youth keeper who didn't play a minute for us.

Wade Elliott's been offered a coaching role with the U21s. Doesn't really have the engine for the Championship anymore but a great influence around the dressing room. Would be ideal, but I wouldn't blame him if he wanted to continue his playing career, still got enough quality for L1. And Marlon Pack's been offered a new deal. Happy with that, he's been outstanding since breaking into the starting lineup in February, fantastic range of passing, but he'll have to fight for his place once again next year as we'll be looking to add depth in midfield.

Of the players still under contract I'm sure we'll try and offload Adam El Abd but it may be tricky as he's on a decent wedge. Could end up with Bury again. Maybe Karleigh Osborne and Scott Wagstaff as well, depending on how many we can bring in over the summer.

We've let Jamie Ward and Shaun Barker go so far.

No surprise, injuries have hammered both players here, Barker obviously more. Both can be thanked for their spell here, Barker was class before his horrific injury 3 years ago, it is a shame he never got on the pitch for us but understandable. Jamie Ward was a bargain for 300k those years ago and has been a brilliant little player for us over the years. That goal against Forest will live long in the memory, absolute scenes in the away end.

I bet Nigel Clough currently has the biggest erection in Sheffield at the thought of these two being freebies.

We will sign about half of those Sheffield Wednesday rejects, it is what we do.

I had this same conversation with people on Owlstalk, they all said they didn't like him because he only passed sideways or something?

He was the crab, and hid when things were difficult. Glad to see the back of him, would love Semedo to just beast him, he'll disappear into his shit Scouse shell.

Only ever passes sideways, absolutely no drive or determination and has the heart of a pea. Those 3 consecutive corners against Huddersfield in 2010 summed him up, all trickled along the floor and cleared by the first man.

It's funny how it goes really because I've never seen him that way for us, only problem with him is he really can't shoot.

Dele Alli trumps all mate.

When he's played in the top flight or international football I'll agree but he hasn't, he's a very good league one player though.

Yeah, crabby has regularly got stuck in and put his body on the line for us and has also provided a creative spark and scored occasionally. It can't be the same player.

He's English. This is the best it gets. Still a wonderkid and the next Gerrard though.

League One is so much weaker than the Championship that it probably does make Potter look like Iniesta.

I'll raise you Steven Gerrard. Dele Alli is basically the same player according to the Daily Mail.

P.S. Anyone else remember that 2-0 win over Championship Sheffield Wednesday in the FA Cup where Darren Potter was instrumental? I do. There were 3 dogs there that night too.
