Stole from the Non-League forum (yes, I was laughing at Bristol Rovers misfortune..) but every week, they have one big match thread, where everything is discussed in there, and sparks a lot of debate between fans of different clubs.

I appreciate there will be less fans of clubs therefore less people to post in the Conference, but it was just an idea..

Thoughts?

Will be like 30 pages long, but will save a lot of threads, and will just be one big discussion point, so yeah!

Just another thread for city and swindon fans to slag each other off.

Admittedly it's died down since we were both neck and neck, but that's one thing to take into account.

I'm all for that. Be good to discuss all the games in the same thread as the goals go in if you're not at the game.

I'm happy to have a thread like that, but it shouldn't take away from mini threads. It will work if you have a general Matchday thread, where you can post about games live..'3-1 Fleetwood now, what a run there on'... But I'd use normal Matchday threads when it comes to fans of teams where you may get more of a match report as such.

Ah yes, that's very true, wouldn't want to take away the writer's on this forum, and the reports.

As others have said, keep the mini-threads, which can be used for discussions before and after games. One big one starting at 2:30-5 wouldn't be a bad shout, especially towards the end of the season when there is reliance on other results.

Nah, I couldn't give a shit about anyone else's game.

Don't want to sift through loads of shit to comment on the PNE game.

Resounding no.

Whilst I'd agree with this, there are threads like the promotion/play off/relegation threads for these sorts of discussions surely?

A reserved 'yes' from me as long as it doesn't degenerate into a bitch fest as some threads have done. Getting other fans perspectives on a matchday would be worth reading as long as it's not to the detriment of the matchday threads and ourselves and Swindon can stop bitching!

Big fat no. It works in the Conference because there are less fans both on the forum and supporting their respective teams but the League 1 board on 1FF has one of the biggest and best followings and, in my opinion, requires matchday threads for nearly all of each weekend's games.

It works well on our forum because there aren't that many fans so it doesn't get overcrowded. It does promote discussion though, it's easier to comment on the day's matches in a general thread than going to find the individual one - it makes it a little less isolated. I think it could work on here if it went from say 2.30-5.30 purely as a general discussion and then outside of those times games could be discussed in individual match threads.

I'm all for that. Be good to discuss all the games in the same thread as the goals go in if you're not at the game.
But some of us actually go to watch our teams play - I'm aware that point will be lost on you.

We've got no fans, we don't need a special thread for our games.

Not bashing Bristol City but with their large contingent on here I fear it would get flooded when they score and stuff
Inclined to agree with Tom due to our numbers. We could upset people without meaning to.

I think it has the potential of being a good idea.

Last week I couldn't make the Swindon v Gillingham game due to my dad being taken ill. Next day I wanted to catch up with what happened in the game with views from both sets of fans. There were 6 pages, of which 4 were from Bristol City fans commenting on how happy they were with the result.

Now before all the City fans jump on this as a dig at them, I know it happens in other match day threads as well, but personally, I would rather our match day threads be intelligent discussion about the actual game. A 'banter' league 1 match day thread would hopefully negate this from the actual individual match day threads.

Here endeth the lesson.

Not for me, it works fine as it is, separate threads plus promotion and relegation thread. With one big thread a lot of it will get lost amongst the bigger games ie/ when you get games like Bristol city vs Swindon or Port Vale vs Crewe, which comfortably go way into double figure pages as it is.

That's what made me think it's a good idea - as on this thread, City fans can laugh all they want at Swindon's result (and vice-versa) and for detailed discussion can stay on the individual Match Thread.

Who knows, it may work, gotta be worth a try surely?

Also - I think what Cards said (think it was Cards) that the thread being from around 2:30-5:30, and then I can lock it, but just a thread for score updates etc, and then after that, discussion stays on individual match thread and thread groups, such as 'Promotion Thread' etc etc.

I like that idea from 2:30 - 5:30 Saturdays 7:15 - 10:00 weekdays would work ok.

Yeah - I reckon we could try that, as there is no need for it to stay on after that time, as there are plenty of other discussion threads.

I don't disagree with this AS and more importantly, I hope your dad is ok?
