Shame for the Paralympians that there are going to be cuts to their games but I guess London 2012 was a one off in terms of interest from local support.

After all the main games haven't exactly been well populated due to the costs etc.

And even here the BBC give it a miss with Channel 4 getting the coverage.

A single unitary authority for urban Dorset
Only a small fraction of tickets have sold for any of the events or venues either.

Its going to feel like quite an after thought which is a shame.

I must admit when I watched it in London I was very bored. Bit like women's football, without the quality, hard work just doesn't cut it for entertainment.

Well they are disabled so won't look as good (on the eye?) as the abled bodies athletes..

If that is what you mean...

Channel 4 had the rights last time too. Not so much BBC "giving it as miss" as being outbid. Was good coverage too, and well watched. Rare example of Channel 4 living up to its EDGY! BOUNDARY PUSHING! rhetoric in a way that isn't Ricky Gervais laughing at mongs or showing naked people in a definitely serious sociological experiment.

Any reason they can't do it at the same time as the Olympics rather than after? Incorporate the schedules so there's like a wheelchair 100m heat in between the Usain Bolt / Justin Gatlin 100m heats and whatnot? Have a month-long all-inclusive jamboree instead of an apartheidy us and them.

Would require even more capacity in terms of athlete accommodation, multi-purpose arenas etc, I guess, and the games are already massively bloated in that regard.

Plus, though noble in intention, I wonder if it might not end up being a bit counterproductive. Could probably work well for the example you cite, but some of the fringe sports struggle for oxygen anyway (especially in the States, which is wot pays the bills), so it's hard to imagine boccia (for eg) benefiting from sharing a calendar with some of the more obvious star-fodder.

I loved the Paras four years ago. As I didn't get any tickets for the Olympics, the Paras were my best chance of seeing the Olympic Park and I went three times. Added to that, a friend of mine took part in the opening ceremony
2 minutes in, my pal's lead vocalist - John Kelly.
