hahaha Albrighton's wife tweeted that she was glad he'd been sacked as well. Awkward morning for him I bet.

It was a ridiculous reaction to what was clearly an accident. McCarthy didn't for a second intend to clatter into him. Pearson came out of the incident looking very foolish, and I don't doubt he'll be embarrassed by it after looking at the replay.

Pearson on grappling McArthur: “It’s not helpful when the 3 fountains of knowledge on ‘Match of the Day’ make a mountain out of a molehill”

well said Mr pearson.

Match of the Day didn't make a mountain out of a molehill, people were talking about the incident on social media directly after the game, most baffled by Pearson's reaction. It was weird, hostile and worthy of criticism. He was obviously annoyed he was knocked over, but he had time to diagnose the situation without putting his hands around the neck of another human-being and then, whilst clearly being in the wrong, grabbing MacArthur when they stood up.

It doesn't matter what they said to each other or if Pearson can 'look after himself' - he is the manager of a Premier League club and shouldn't be doing that to anyone, let alone an opposition player. He brought unwanted attention to himself during an already intense period of scrutiny of him and his club.

I enjoyed Lineker's tweet today and I reckon Pearson will be sacked soon anyway.

Pardew was castigated for his headbutt on Meyler - I think this is worse personally. I don't think at any point Pearson was 'joking'. It was clearly accidental and he decided to try and throttle him whilst he's on the floor in a weak position. He should have been helping him up really. I hope he gets banned for the same amount of games Pardew was.

I only saw it the once, perhaps I've misread it then.

It was clearly accidental to us, but he didn't see it coming. I'm guessing he just didn't believe him and thought he was taking him for a mug.

Completely agree. I always quite liked Pearson, but he seems to have gone completely nuts in the last couple of years and I now think he's a bit of a c***.

It was definitely quite a BIZARRE incident. The interview he delivered afterwards was CHILLING. Seemed like a right psycho.

Re his sacking, I did wonder why there was nothing on the BBC website several hours after he'd allegedly been given the boot. Am always a bit inclined to doubt the veracity of a story until it appears on the beeb. That said, I think there must have been *something* in it. Several other media outlets reported it as well (though may just have been following Sky's lead) and it took Leicester a rather long time to issue a denial. Wouldn't be surprised if this just proved to be a stay of execution.

I don't want to compare apples and Oranges but how does he get away with putting hands around a players neck while Mourinho (and other managers in the past) get fines for criticising a refereeing performance or other minor offences.

It's quite funny, it really is.

Hard to get worked up about this when you realise he'll be back in management pretty quickly, regardless of his antics last season. Wonder if this has anything to do with his lad getting sacked by the club?

Well they did try to sack him before...

Have the board and Pearson never seen eye to eye?

Really strange timing as Pre season starts...

Yeah, weird timing. Especially since he kept them up.

Weird timing. Surely they've spent half the summer working on player recruitment for Pearson?

As has been said.
I think the sacking has more to do with off field matters and his attitude because on the field he pulled off a miracle to keep them up.

The "difference in perspective" quote in the statement makes it sound like the owners want to push on into the top half and qualify for Europe, and one can only assume Pearson thought that was unachievable.
