Just seen on another forum a guess list of player budgets this year.
So I thought I'd have a stab
My guess would be
£1m+
Forest Green
750k - 1M

Grimsby, Bristol Rovers, Eastleigh
600k - 750k
Barnet, Wrexham, Torquay, Gateshead
400k-600k
Lincoln, Kidderminster, Halifax, Macclesfield, Chester, Woking, Aldershot, Altrincham, Dover
less than 400k
Braintree, Southport, Dartford, Welling, Nuneaton, Alfreton, Telford

What's your thoughts?

Our Chairman confirmed last Saturday that ours is £500k this season.

It actually started lower than that and worked its way up to that figure on a sliding scale that was dependant on ST sales etc.

Depends how you define 'playing budget'. If you are talking fully costed (bonus/NIC etc) then I think you are off with Aldershot. I would guess you would need to move them up one maybe two brackets.

Supposedly our budget was 220k before the season started. It has increased since then but i think the reported increase was 25%...

That said, it is very hard to tell with clubs that use the loan system as you never really know how much is paid by the parent club

#MaccMachine don't have a budget of 400-600k, I'd think more like 50-100k. Otherwise it wouldn't be so romantic for all of us neutrals, who constantly check how Macc are getting on even when our own side are playing some tinpot side and losing 0-4.

Surely our mighty full time budget is not in the same bracket as Halifaxs very own strict part time budget? Disneyland doesn't run on fresh air you know!!

I'm fairly sure I read on the Eastleigh board before Saturday's game one of their fans had our budget down as bigger than there's and FGR's...All that money must have gone to his head.

Personaly think the person who started that thread on our board. Writes bollox most off the time.
As long as we pay our bills. On time and in full. I'm happy.
As I'm sure most people do.
But if we were paying big bucks for players and not paying the tax man etc. I would be worried and would be asking very loud questions.

Brizzle spending less than £1m this year? Wasn't it nearly £4m last term?

About right, I'd say between the current bracket and the one above. Some of our fans would firmly deny it but it just shows how much we've underachieved this season IMO.

From what I can tell a lot of players left and apart from Easter, Clarke has brought in decent non-league players rather than high earners so my thinking is they are close to £1m but I'm not convinced they've gone as high as Luton did last year.

Ours is 300k.

Bristols would be over £1m.

Halifax's is half a packet of Haribo and a Capri Sun.

Ours will be close to a million as the last few years pretty sure FGR and Eastleigh will be higher than us and I'd be very surprised if Bristol was close to a million considering how much they were spending when relegated. Over 2m wage budget Last season? It doesnt get reduced that quickly on relegation short of a massive clear out. How many players do they still have from last season? Don't forget they have the parachute payment as well so don't have to reduce it that quickly in their first season

7 from last season, three of which have come through our youth system.

Our budget has been cut pretty dramatically, it was an absolute necessity. Only Easter is a 'big name' (of which FGR and Eastleigh have 4/5 each) and I doubt even he's on big money.

Love other fans who just state what our budget is - like it's fact because of our name. Last year is was joint 2nd biggest in L2 at £1.8 or £1.9 - I can't remember. This year it's been definitely been roughly halved. Remember the small amount of players that did stay would have had clauses in their contracts upon relegation meaning a lower wage.

I'd say the OP's guess is pretty accurate. As pleased as I am with our players, I don't think I had heard of any of the new signings (apart from Easter) which shows the difference on the last few seasons

your own article the other month stated you was paying 3.5m in wages, now obviously not all on players but if your saying you paid non playing staff 1.6-1.7m then you have some staff!

We don't have anywhere near the highest budget in this league, that has been said by the club a number of times.

Darrell Clarke has said we are probably in the top '4 or 5', but aren't spending anywhere near as much as some clubs. We reduced the budget dramatically over the summer and I have no doubt some of last year's crop had relegation clauses in their contracts that decreased their weekly wage. The players we signed were non-league players and I know the likes of Matty Taylor and Stuart Sinclair, for example, are on £500-£700.

As Gashead says, Jermaine Easter is the only player we have signed who would likely command a bigger wage, but we definitely haven't broken our budget to get him. I'm very pleased with the business we've done and it's mad that after reducing our budget so much that we now actually have a squad that is better than the one we had last season.

Hence we got rid of a load of people inside the club and restructured.

Coming down to non league was going to do 1 of 2 things, ruin us, or reform us as a stronger club. I guess we'll find out in the next few years!

I'm not saying you haven't restructured and reduced the wage bill but I'd be surprised if you still aren't over a million considering how much you spent the year before. I would still put Eastleigh and FGR above you and us just behind you on about a million.

Last season our wage bill was 1.4m with playing budget apparently 900k to 1m. The year we got relegated our wage bill was 1.8m so I'd guess of a playing budget around 1.4-1.5m. It would take a significant reduction in wages to go from 3.5m to 1m in one season, hence why I asked how many players you still had and reading that article again it seems you had a lot of loan players.

Fair enough, does seem pretty excessive, does £3.5million. Didn't realise it was that high at all.

Apparently it's been halved over the summer, which taking out the £300k apparently used on loanees in this budget for 13/14, that should be around £1.6 million. Lots of staff cuts too though, so maybe a bit under the £1.5million mark.

The bonus being, of course, that if (big if) we were to be promoted there's no way the budget would double again.

That wage bill was for 300 staff, be interesting to know how much the non playing staff were costing but if you assume all the quoted facts are true and last seasons playing budget was 1.9m then the remaining staff have an annual average wage of less than £7k each. and this seasons playing budget is 800-950k

Was talking to Creighton just after christmas about Kiddy and he said your budget has been a lot lower then people have been saying last few years and have been overachieving last few seasons. He did also say even after losing player (now add likes of Johnson onto that who you still had at the time) its a talented squad

And add Storer as well who's a great player. But we've had some very good players this season with people like Hodgkiss joining there just happens to be a curse on any striker that has played for us this season where they can't hit the back of the net

Personally I've been impressed with Storer so far, Not an exciting player but a player every team needs. Breaks play up, decent passing, very verbal. Can see why he's been a captain before. Some of our fans haven't come round to him yet, but some of our fans wouldn't see any positives if we won the league
