In the last few months we've beaten Swindon on their own patch, beaten MK Dons comfortably at home and drawn away at Bristol City (twice), so playing a 'top' team shouldn't faze us. Having said that, we'll probably mentally be on the beach.

3-1 PNE

Would be proper Preston North End to lose this.

We need to win, so we wont.

Saying that though the mentality is different compared to other seasons.

Hessenthaler Jnr's going to come on and snap everyone's legs, including Mark Lawrenson's (because he's a cock).

Other than that I don't really care what the score is.

14 unbeaten, got to be looking at making it 15 as not winning your home games is asking for trouble at this stage.

John Welsh seemed to get a little knock against Bristol City and I seriously hope he's available as he's been our best player for going on two months now, Gregan-esque. I think we missed Huntington on Saturday so hopefully he's fit enough to start, King would be unlucky to miss out as he's played well against Bradford and Bristol City but he's the obvious one to replace.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Robinson replace Humphrey either, if we're planning on 'going for it'.

Johnstone
Clarke, Huntington, Wright, Laird
Welsh
Gallagher, Johnson, Robinson
Beckford, Garner

Stuckmann, Woods, King, Kilkenny, Humphrey, Little, Davies

Good read this - http://fansonline.net/gillingham/article.php?id=557

It is probably fair to say that throughout Gillingham's rise from Division Three in 1996 to Division One in 2000 (now the Championship), and continuing during their five year stay in England's second tier, one team from Lancashire played a supporting role in that most special period for Gillingham. For ten years between 1995 and 2005, Gillingham and Preston North End just couldn't be separated and rose through the Divisions like phoenixes from a joint flame.

Well hopefully the Gillingham Phoenix will be so worried about losing the Preston Phoenix that it pisses all over said flame tomorrow night.

Yes im still harbouring preposterous automatic promotion hopes.

Preston are undoubtedly favourites, no question.
We have, however, lost just one of our last nine away from home (when we forgot to turn up at Chesterfield).
I wouldn't be surprised if we got something from this.
Although I would expect us to be a decent price I think 17/2 is way too high and will be getting a small investment from my Grand National bloated betting account.

Good memories of that 10 year run.

My first season as a Gills fan was the 95/96 season which turned out so well for both us and PNE, and the years that followed saw us pretty much shadow them all the way up to the Championship. We had the play-off semis in 99, which were tight as you like, and the emergence of the Hess v Gregan feud. If we'd managed to beat Wrexham on the last day of the 99/00 season, then we would've shared two promotions in 5 years, each time with PNE top and us second. The play-offs were fun that year though.

So basically we can expect gillingham to sit 11 men behind the ball and time waste, brilliant.

Good, should be a great game then. I hate paying £20 to watch teams come to deepdale and just time waste.

We will at least have the decency not to time waste until we're 3-0 up. ;)

Not sure where you've picked that up from. We try and play football, we simply can't defend for 90 minutes.

Grayson saying Jack King is undroppable after his last two performances, worth another year, regardless of what division we're in?

He has his heart-stopping moments but I think he's generally done a great job when playing in defence.

That said, if Huntington is fit then he walks back into our defence for me.

Just every team that comes to deepdale tries to play for a point apart from Bristol City and sheffield United. Hopefully you'll join them on that list :)

I can see a 1-1, frustrating us to the max.
Those horrible games, long ball, physical bore draws from the previous encounters in the 90's will never leave me. Neither will the 1-0 play off semi defeat.
A win however could start the butterflies.. As seems with every northender no one seems to be getting carried away, been burnt too many times..

Gills were great at the CG (apparently, I missed it) so I have hope that they may cause an upset tonight.
