0-0 draw.

Sounded like we didn't play very well, and Portsmouth made the better of the game. We're made of better stuff this term.

To go down there and hold out was impressive. We always draw at Portsmouth.

Our defence sounded immense, maybe we really do have something about us this season
Well isn't this ironic. Mansfield go away to a team higher in the table, play badly and get a result. But when they do it, its considered 'Impressive', 'immense' and described as 'something about us this season'

Portsmouth must be over the moon with the draw to Bayern Mansfield. It's a shame that Portsmouth didn't play football, otherwise Mansfield would have slaughtered them.

Sounded like we played football yesterday, was a good game and both sides went for it in a passing game

Sounds like you tried to play football too yesterday? :2thumb:

Let's not beat around the bush here. It was a shit game between two shit teams that you wouldn't have thought were 2nd and 4th in the league respectively. Mansfield offered nothing going forward but their defence won't have had a more comfortable game than that due to how woeful our players were going forward.

0-0 was absolutely the right result.

"Veteran Goalkeeper Brian Jensen produces an inspired display as Mansfield battle to a goalless draw away at Portsmouth."
"we've limited them to what I think was no attempts on goal in the second half"

In fact, you didn't have a single shot on target the whole game! Really sounds like Portsmouth must have just really shut up shop then to stop Bayern Mansfield from slaughtering yet another team

It seems like the mighty Newport must have finished the game with more than 7 players.

Yet after four schoolyard standard replies still no reasons why Paul Cook should waste his thoughts on Mansfield Town...
Because last time we visited the Tesco stadium we deservedly thrashed you in your own back yard.

Are you still so bitter about this? How many away fans did you take yesterday? Must be at least 6,000 for the mighty Mansfield. I's surprised the Pompey fans showed up!

I wasn't there but to be fair the BBC's report is usually a load of rubbish.

For example it says Jensen was outstanding and made a 'string of fine saves'. However according to the match stats we limited Portsmouth to TWO shots on target.

That's a pretty short string by anybodies calculations.

Bitter about what? Confused here.

We've moved on and got 4 points from Yeovil and Portsmouth, and remained in the playoff zone, Bristol was just a mere blip.

I predicted that. We've been more expansive recently, but when we come up against better sides we pretty much just close up shop. 11 goals conceded in 15 shows were doing something right.

Sounds like you've a pretty strong defence also.

The post was at Baratheon. Still moaning about the red cards.

As for this moving on nonsense, why is it you then came to the Rovers thread, essentially calling us cheats, slate our football and manager. Its time you got over the game and moved on with your life

Blimey, you've rather a bee in your bonnet buddy.

I saw Newport at Mansfield about a month ago, we won 3-0, and Sheridan had just taken over, they showed slight glimpses in that game they were better than their position suggested, and have picked up a great result yesterday. Sometimes you see a result and think "well played lads, great score" yesterday was one of those.

Portsmouth in my opinion just edged the game we looked a bit toothless upfront yesterday but to say Jenson kept us in the game is laughable they had two shots on target one was straight at him the other he tipped over the bar, routine stuff. I think a point was about right as I don't think either side did enough to worry either defence.

Pompey were better than us but were woeful in our box. We didn't even get in their box so can't comment. We'd have taken that point all day long before KO so we are over the moon.

Not sure why Bristol seem obsessed with us now. We've played twice since our game. Thought we'd all agreed that the ref was shire and you executed your game plan to perfection. We can see why you're a good side away and likewise we seem to be.

2 very average performances on the road and 4 points. That'll do.

You ought to wonder to yourself quite why you're still feeling so bitter about a win a week ago and not be more concerned that you've had a couple of poor home results since.

Chin up fella.

I think the Rovers fan might just be the teensiest bit upset that his side just got hammered at home by the bottom team and he's taking it out on fans of the last side he has something over. Just a leftfield guess.

I don't feel as though we have to apologise for not being too adventurous at Fratton Park.

I had an in law (my wife is from Waterlooville) telling me how shit we are and how it says everything about the division if we're up there.
I just laughed and replied that it probably says more about Pompey than us. Portsmouth never looked like scoring despite their dominance, and the club's operate in different stratospheres financially.

Cook is a good manager and will get Pompey promoted. I've inherited a fondness for them over the past years through family and although I'd never want a second club, they are as near as damn it and just need to promote some patience. They've been junk for a few years and shoots of recovery need time to be nurtured.
Portsmouth fans are in danger of doing what we all do these days and demand everything yesterday. We at Mansfield are the same, but we are at our natural level; Pompey aren't but have to suck through clenched teeth until it clicks.

It's kinda perverse that the little team in fifth is so pleased that they are in early contention, whilst the lower league behemoth seems so het up to only be second to Plymouth, who look the class act of the division.

Small steps before giant leaps folks.

Hey, come on. Bit early to say that - you haven't played Barnet yet.

Don't get me wrong, it's a cracking result for them, 2 excellent away wins on the bounce for them - and I have no problems with Mansfield or any one else for that matter applauding them. But when you come onto the Rovers thread and say things like "Providing you get a ref who stands upto their antics, you've a decent chance of beating Bristol." and ,"Clarke is maybe finding football league management is harder than he thought - he was a fine passing midfielder, if he played tactics like that he might fare better"

To me, that screams bitterness over the whole game at your place. I have no grudge against Mansfield, I really don't care about them at all. But if you personally come onto our thread making comments like that, I'm going to come down to your level and do the same. I'm not sure how some people's logic works though - a Mansfield fan posts comments about the game last week and makes a dig - one week later, so I come back and do the same yet I'm the obsessed one?

As I said in the original thread between ourselves, the game is done, move on and good luck for the rest of the season.
