A lot of Poolies on our board intotheblue get themselves in a tizz over who is and isn't the ref .... I'm normally not bothered , but now I need to know what type of cheese it was ..

That being said, the majority of our fanbase isn't working class. Nowt wrong with being working class, but our fanbase isn't cut from that cloth on the whole.

Nor is it cut from the jolly rodgering toff cloth that people think of either (all saved for the varsity at Twickers, you see) when Cambridge is raised as a topic.

Anyone who has a job to pay for stuff is working class......from ooop here , the preconceptions of low unemployment look attractive , but weigh that up against eye watering property prices and I'm not so sure

If your first sentence is hundreds of years of English classism in a nutshell then I think we should work harder on the other great English preserves (racism and marmalade).

It's outragous the cost of living in Cambridge, however that's the price you pay for living in such an excellent place. Those who are working class in Cambridge would probably struggle.

You've got better countryside and fish and.chips though, so it's all relative!

I have no doubt your countryside and fish and chips are passable ,.but the great secret that no one knows about generally is the countryside and coastline in and around Durham/Tees Valley is stunning ...you have to go to Whitby way though for decent Fish and Chips , even though we have some decent ones , you can't beat eating a fish that was in the sea that morning

The North East in general is bloody gorgeous, I particularly like it north of Newcastle (Alnwick competes with anywhere on our island for beautiful places!) and just south of yas in North Yorkshire.

Anyway, at least we're not losing yet!

Excellent day out, spoiled only by 90 minutes of classic Richard Money smotherball - that at least delivered the point we came for.

We had a few opportunities but hardly "chances" and Pools had more - with Dunn making 3 or 4 important saves, including the 1 on 1 that I thought he saved with his face but must have been forehead. With Corr and some confidence, I'm still sure we'll be OK but I see no basis for raising expectations above mid-table for either side. The Blessed Bingham dithered - a half decent striker would have got 1 or 2 against us today and may have turned it into a proper game of football. Paynter made no impression on our back 5 - who were immense in helping out Dunn at a few corners.

Because I set off in plenty of time, I missed the A1 closure and even had time to tune up my camera and optics for next month's Argentina safari before pre-match pints at the Mill House (thanks for the steer, the pie van also hit the spot). Saltholme and Teesmouth delivered some great pics of Water Rail and a range of dragon flies against a very picturesque backdrop (refineries framed by the North Yorks Moors). Avoided the A19 south and got home for the delights of Channel 5 at 9.

Cambridge may be the pits for fish and chips but the fens have always been up there with Quayside Whitby and friends. Petrou Brothers at Chatteris and Stotts at Outwell have been worth a diversion in the past and both Ely and Littleport can match anything I've found "oop north."

I have got to say, Cambridge were the most disappointing team we have played so far this year. It was clear you set up for a 0-0, but even then we could've scored 4 or 5 if we didn't try and walk the ball into the net. Defence never troubled, and we defended pretty well from the corners and long balls in to the box. One of these days, something will click and we will give someone a right stuffing. But until that day comes, we need to start putting away just one of these chances. The one we did put away was very wrongly ruled out for offside, I was bang in line with it and he was a good yard onside, very poor decision.

That said, I am sure Cambridge will still be safely mid table. Them tactics will work against the poor sides no problem.

Just watched the highlights. It was offside (34 secs). However, if it had been allowed, we might have had more of a game of football to watch. Brilliant "headed" save by Dunn point blank from Halliday.

Yeah ended up in the Millhouse, very pleasant from what I remember, had far too much to drink for my own good on Saturday, although sadly it hasn't blurred enough of my memory of the game.
