I thought it was a cracking game of football, had a bit of everything. I dare say the disappointment Latics fans are feeling today would have been ours had they managed to nick a point that would have been hugely undeserved.

Both sides tried to play it around in an even first half lit up by Grants strike from distance. Second half we were completely dominant for 20 minutes, cacked ourselves for 20 minutes as Wigan went direct and flooded forward and then composed ourselves to hit them on the break to get the free kick, the red card and a deserved winner.

Probably the biggest following Wigan have ever bought to VP. Not particularly noisy mind. I guess the expectation level is high given the vast budget advantage they have over the whole division so numbers to be expected.

Onto another of the relegated sides in the shape of Millwall on Tuesday night. Hopefully a few of those missing Vale fans will get down to VP as the quality level is way ahead of the Adams era.

I'll say it every week - but we're a very, very good side. The most well rounded and complete side I've seen since our Division One (now Championship) days.

I just feel sorry for the players (and the chairman) that there's not a couple of thousand more Vale fans to witness the performances. Our home attendances so far this season have been pathetic, and the stay-away's are missing out big time.

I agree. Our fans are fickle though. If the style of play and results continue, they'll return.

Its an odd one, everyone expected us to struggle and me too until we signed some good defenders and I saw the performance and improvement v Getafe in pre season.

We've addressed the defense issue which was a huge Achilles heel last season and Bodin and the new coaching staff seem to have improved us no end with the passing game and maybe shows how much the likes of Grew and Glover were holding us back.

Having the Pontiff go and now having lost the desire to lump it our midfield which was fairly strong last season is now able to get into games more and the addition of Grant adds the protection for the defensive midfield area allowing others to get forward. Hes class, I don't care what Crewe fans say but he has to be one of the best midfielders in the division. Crewe fans mentioned he wasn't great on the ball and slowed the game down... clearly had the talent but wasnt using it at Crewe then!

Yesterday summed Grant up, went in to make a block and got injured doing it but it saved a great goal scoring chance, gets treatment and is up a minute later rifling home the stunner for the first goal. Grant not being able to play football... the through ball from Enoch which resulted in the red card was placed to perfection.

I was worried by Page and still think he makes the odd weird decision in games... Bradford being an example but fair play he's got his own squad now and so far so good... lets hope it can continue... if it can we have a great chance of making the play offs but need to keep it up and maybe have some luck with injuries to key players. First to get to 50 points (and I expect us to comfortably) and then re-assess our aims when there.

wow very classy i understand 3 points against us is massive for you but is there any need for that!

If I was fucking talking to you, I'd have replied to you in the first place.
If there wasn't any need for it, I wouldn't have written it, would I? (And **that's** the punctuation mark you use at the end of a question.)
As for "massive", I don't think there's a club in the entire pyramid system, including the Vanarama, who would consider a game against you as massive. Half your fans only turn up because your stadium's warmer than their lounge.

We're a good side. I don't see any reason why we can't finish comfortably in the top 10. I still think that we'll miss out on the play-offs because we do miss having a genuine goal-poacher in the ranks, although Ikpeazu's ratio so far has been better than expected.

Wigan for me are one of the better sides in the league, so to win the game and deservedly so is fantastic. Defensively we made some poor errors that we haven't been making previously but it's unrealistic to think that we'll be keeping clean sheets most-weeks. Going forward we were superb with Louis Dodds being the main reason for that. I've never been convinced by him as he's a bit of a power-puff player, but now that he's playing in his favored role every week he's showing the player he's promised to be in fits and starts. He's a very intelligent footballer. Moving on to man-of-the-match Anthony Grant, he has to be the best signing we've made for many, many years. On current form he should be playing for a good Championship club. To think that we still have Micheal O'Connor to come back into the side soon to play alongside him is just a mouth-watering prospect. Grant, O'Connor and Foley with Dodds pulling the strings behind Andoh and Ikpeazu - Good luck opposition!

You're definitely play-off candidates at the very least, so this game was a good benchmark for us. I'm not too surprised we did well though considering we've already beaten the likes of a strong Burnley side in the cup and gave a very strong West Brow side a fight to the very end at the Hawthorns. Once you stop giving teams a two-goal lead you'll be flying.

"Yes, I love Wolves too".
That's how it should be written. If there isn't a bookshop for your grammar book in Wigan, perhaps try in Bolton or Bury. But wait, you are on Tinternet right now, aren't you? Why not just ask the librarian if she has a decent book on grammar; libraries usually do.

But I see your club has published a Sights of Wigan book, available here. Learn from that. At least then you'll be able to spell your name.

Priceless. Like being sledged by Rainman.

We averaged just short of 21,000 at home in League 1, you're managing a little less. Well 12,500 less. Just 8,500 people are turning up to see you play in League 1. Perhaps most Wigan folk have got heating in their houses now and the DW is no longer the safe, warm option for them on a Saturday afternoon.

In fact, we had (and took away) more in League 1 than you did in the PL.

Congratulations on taking 2,500 to Coventry though! That's a major achievement for a small club! We took 3,400 to Sixfields a couple of seasons ago. (Yes! Hard to believe but Sixfields is even smaller than your ground!).

Anyway, here's a couple of photos to remind you of those heady Premier League days when you were filling the DW for league and cup games.

Except yours was on a Saturday when you were in the Premier League for a 3rd round FA cup match, and ours was on a Tuesday night for a 1st round replay against Oldham when we were in League 1.

Priceless.
Your first three home games in League 1.....8,813, 7,794, 8,647
Our first three home games in League 1....19.102, 17,406, 19,388.

A long stretch in the Premier League, European football, an FA Cup win, and you can't even get 10k at home. Priceless.
