Hope Amos does well for you at Bolton.

I think we might, and this is tentative at the moment, go with...

Think Curle might be leaning towards 3-5-2, but who knows. We certainly don't have much in the way of wingers if he was to go 4-4-2 or 4-3-3

Cambridge:

Dunn
Omozusi, Roberts, Legge, Dunk
Donaldson, Berry, Keane, TBC
Corr, Carr

I really hope we have a left winger coming in and Carr might be benched if we sign another forward.

Taking a punt here as haven't heard of half the new squad

Day
Holmes Poole Feely Barrow
Rodman Byrne Klukowski Ralph
Elito John-Lewis

Suspect formation may change as a few more signatures / loans are yet to come in. Play offs here we come with the Butcher / Osman dream team doing the business !
3-1 to get a win at Cambridge on opening day - suggest you all lump on big time.

Hadn't even realised Gary Madine had signed for Bolton.

He's done well to stay in the championship. Thought after sheff wed released him he'd drop down to league one, or even come back to us.

I assume that formation I'm seeing is to do with me viewing on my phone and not some tactical master plan you've come up with??:bg:

My choice would be:
Gillespie
McQueen Miller Atkinson Troy Brough
Kennedy Dempsey Joyce
Wyke Ibehre
I'm sort of assuming/hoping McQueen will be good, we'll see in pre-season of course. If he isn't good then Miller shifts to right wing-back and Raynes into centre-back.

On first impressions that is already a massive improvement on last year simply because we've got players in their natural positions. McQueen will probably be better than Young, Miller will be better than Atkinson etc. This is before we hopefully sign 1 or 2 more wingers as well which should give us more options in terms of formations.

Well we each seem to be in agreement in everything but the back 3... I would like to see Troy in there myself. I feel we have what looks like a real spine with Gillespie, Kennedy and Ibehre, and Troy I think complements that well, solid defender, plays the ball forward well, but I have this horrible feeling he'll be in the other training group. Curle did say the door was open for any of the transfer listed players to work their way into the team, and Sweeney, Dicker, O'Hanlon and Paynter all managed to do that last season.

Tough to say what shape we are planning on starting with at the moment, but based on the squad right now I would guess at something like:

--------------------------------------M. Tyler

S. O'Donnell ---------- S. McNulty ----- S. Cuthbert -------- S. Griffiths

--------------------------- J. Smith -------- N. Doyle

J. McQuoid ---------------- C. McGeehan ------------------- A. Lawless

---------------------------------- P. Benson

Subs - E. Justham (GK); L. Wilkinson (CB); D. Potts (LB); P. Ruddock (CM/RM); L. Guttridge (CAM); J. Howells (LW); J. Marriott (ST)

I fully expect to see a new experienced/proven striker in the next couple of days who will replace Benson in the first team though. Possibly another first team winger too although I'm less sure on that front.

I wouldn't have thought Curle's problem with Troy would be that he isn't good enough or has a bad attitude, it's just the inability to play certain games which hinders the whole team. I would hope he'd be straight back into the team because we know what we're getting with him when he plays and it's not something any other defender we have comes close to. Grainger will probably squirm back into the team, with him and Troy we've got room for one more and personally I'd go for Miller over Atkinson if McQueen ends up taking the right wing-back spot.

I think and expect that if Troy stays he'll be used in the team. It would be silly not to.

He's a high earner so Curle probably wants to free up that wage for someone who can play more. If he can't get rid then we might as well make use of him.

No idea as not finished our signings yet but this is an option:

Dunn
Coulson Legge Roberts
Omozusi Keane Morissey Dunk
Berry Donaldson
Corr

Sort of 3-6-1. Dunk and Omozusi as wing backs, Morissey and Keane sitting with Berry and Donaldson breaking to support Corr when possible.

But frankly I have no idea. We have gaps (left wing and striker in particular) so until they are filled, unusual formations are likely to be the guess of the day.

Our current best line up is probably:

Simpson - Henderson
Cox - Vincelot - James - McAnuff
Lowry - Baudry - Clarke - Clohessy
Woods
Subs: Grainger, Pritchard, Moore, Turgott, McCallum

Will be a few more signings at least though, so shall see.

I like the look of both, and with Richard's approach we could see both at some time on day1, but there's a good chance that neither will be the starting 11. I can still see a new keeper coming in as well as striker and winger. We're bound to crock a key player between now and 8/8.

What odds on Hughes getting a start at Rotherham and Carlisle?

That Orient team looks like its far too good to be in League 2.
Obviously everyone will be making new signings so this is subject to change but will go with something like this.

Clarke (rumoured)
Maloney Cresswell Diamond Buchanan
Byrom Taylor
Adams D'ath Holmes
Richards

Not much room for manoeuvre for us at the moment, hopefully making some signings this week. Seems most likely a 3-5-2, maybe:

Flinders
Lowe - Winfield - Swan/McCombe
New RWB - Berrett - Penn - Summerfield - Carson/Straker
Hyde - Oliver/Sinclair

I'd say that's a solid enough defence but it's hardly going to be a goalfest, is it?

Luton.. 5-3-2 I think.

Tyler in goal.
O'Donnell and Griffiths wing backs.
Wilkinson McNulty and Cuthbert 3 centre halves.
Smith and Doyle sitting in front of them with McGeehan just in front.
Pelly Ruddock wide right, McQuoid down the middle and Marriott wide left.

Who knows though, lots of business to be done still

I can confidently predict that we won't start with 12 players on the pitch!!!

Sounds like we're about to sign two new wingers so I'm thinking 5 at the back is going to be very unlikely too.

Carroll
? - Bennett - Hollis - Adams
Noble - Swerts - Milsom
? - Spencer - ?

Suspect we may sign another centre back to start alongside one of those two as well. More work to do than most others, but expecting to sign four by the end of the week. One of the two wingers will probably be Jenner.
