So, in one corner we have a team that went 1-0 down early on in their last 16 game to a penalty, but came back to win 2-1. In the other corner, we have a team that went 1-0 down early on in heir last 16 game to a penalty, but came back to win 2-1. Huh.

France through with relatively little fuss. Got out of their group easily enough and clicked through the gears to see off Ireland in the last 16. Starting to show why they were tipped to go far in this tournament, although to be fair they haven't faced a proper test yet.

As for Iceland, they are battling Wales for the team of the tournament award. What a time they are having. Got out of a tricky group and easily saw off an aject England side in the last 16. They now go into this game sky high with confidence. They won't fear France, although this might finally prove a step too far for them.

Can Iceland carry on their fairytale run and knock out the hosts? Or is their dream about to come to an end as France's individual quality takes over? Rooting for Iceland in this one.

France have failed to impress me so far apart from the second half against Ireland, they've looked a little shaky at the back and with Rami suspended for this one they can definitely be got at. The question is of course if Iceland have got the quality to take advantage of it, they've proven so far they are capable of getting a goal but have rode their luck a little bit at times.

I think this is as far as Iceland can get and France will have too much firepower, they will most definitely not be as toothless as England. But Iceland have been written off in every game so far and proved everyone wrong, if it's level going into the 2nd half the nerves could get to the French. 2-0 victory for the hosts.

I think Iceland could actually do this. Germany semi would be a step too far, but there we are.

Gonna stick my neck out here.... 2-1 Iceland.

Just looking forward to seeing if Progba can justify the hype and price tag. Haven't seen much of him bar the champions league and these Euros, but what I have seen is not someone worth a world record fee.
Not going to predict a winner I just hope it's a better game than last night.

Oh look, France have got themselves an early goal and not gifted Iceland one straight back minutes later.

Good idea, that.

Competent corner for the second, too. It'll never catch on.

And to think we couldn't even score from open play.

What an anti-climax. Iceland look every bit as out of their depth as they did against Portugal for most of the first match, but France have real quality in attacking areas so are putting them to the sword.

Through to the semis and Ireland are the best team they've faced in the tournament. Change this tournament back to 16 teams ASAP.

Great half from France who are playing beautifully. The commentators are doing their best to spoil it however by mentioning England eight times during that half. :ffs:

No way extend it more. It'll give us a chance to get in on the party for a change! :D

Does help if you have pace and and ability to shoot.

Also keeping a lead for more than 30 seconds helps!

I think France are just lucky here that we tired out the Icelandic side for them.

France just have so many ways to kill you in the final third. In the air, from wide, central, short range, long range, everything. Defending against France is like playing wack-a-mole.

Iceland are a huge, huge credit to the tournament, brilliant. Will be interesting to see how they go in future years, and whether any of these players will start popping up in bigger clubs soon (Gylfi excepted obviously)
