Haha. Good point. Id expect our list in the next week or so. Our mangerial situation hasnt been completely confirmed. Vicous rumours are going round that Ilkeston Manager Kevin Wilson will replace Nicky Law after they have finished their play-off campaign. (They play tonight)

Johnstone is on a 18 Month Contract. He is contracted till Summer 2015. Think he can be a really force at Conference North level. Hoping we can keep hold of him.

Nice one mate. Hope you enjoyed your visit. Which match did you see? Id agree with that. I expect to see in the fL in the future. Just hoping he sees out his contract first!

Went to your away game at Wrexham because I made the decision to go a neutral game based on ex-Alex players and Johnstone and Carrington were supposed to feature. The latter didn't play but was very impressed with Johnstone in the first half, your keeper (who was badly let down that day by those in front of him) and I even thought Rowe-Turner looked good despite me slating him when he was at Torquay. Karl Hawley though blimey you need to offload him, looked knackered after 20 minutes and failed to contribute against two shaky Wrexham CBs.

An all too common story this season. We have Conceded 90 Goals this season including 50 goals in our 23 away games. That Game was Flynn debut too. Yeah Rowe-Turner was fantastic last season Never reached those heights this season. Yep Id agree on Karl Too many journeymen pros here for the wage packet and not interested in playing for the shirt this season.

would you believe it but that was our first league defeat at Wrexham in 4 years plus too!

Id be fucking delighted with him at Conference North if he fancied the commute!

He would definitely do a job at that level, and may do for a part time Conference side just trying to stay up, but for a side that is aiming to challenge for the playoffs next season (as we are), he isnt good enough in my opinion.

As for the release list, my main suprise is despite finishing 18th and setting a playoff challenge as a target for next season, we have ONLY released 3 players!

We haven't 'released' anyone given they are all out of contract except Oastler. We've only offered seven deals, so by my reckoning that means that we haven't offered deals to twelve. Why we chose to just pick out three in the press release is beyond me.

Each and every one of our squad is out of contract AFAIK, fuck knows who/how many we can afford to offer deals to.

To be fair, the statement did say all loanees have returned to their clubs (indicating none have been offered deals), while injured players (Saunders, Gibbs, Lathrope etc) will be monitored over the summer.

I have no idea who the 7 offered contracts could be but of the ones who are fully fit and haven't been allowed to leave without a contract offer I will have a guess at Wilson, Hatton, Roberts, Williams, Plummer, Smith and maybe Welch?

Of the loanees, I wouldnt mind seeing Stevenson, Richards and McGinty offered something should they be out of contract at their parent clubs though.

Similar theme here, I think before the other week only McConville and Richards were on deals, but since then Worsnop, Kay, Higgins, Mahon, Rooney, Hobson & Heneghan have also signed back on.

James is the most notable name who's likely to leave us.

I'd happily take Turnbull, Rhys Taylor and Scott Barrow (the left back if i have his name right) off you, but not sure what Mills will go after. If Wilkin was still here we'd 100% be in for Turnbull but he'd probably play him right back

I can definitely see Turnbull and Taylor leaving. Turnbull quite possibly to you guys, still local enough for him. Taylor I would expect to get a league club, he turned a few down in January to try and finish the job with us, though again wouldn't surprise me to just see him go to a good sized conf club. Barrow i think we have a better chance of holding on to. We took him from the injury scrap heap last summer and he seems to be happy playing again so possibly work in our favour, but again anyone offering a few more reddies and i wouldn't blame him for moving on.

All in all, a huge rebuilding process for us this summer, again. Keep an eye out for decent odds on relegation everyone!

I agree with this, Turnbull and Taylor have been here a couple of seasons now, where as Barrow will probably give us another year out of gratitude for believing in him.

Hopefully we can keep a few of them though, Fairhurst, Halls, Moke, Rowe, Whitaker, Barrow, Lewis, Cowan, Pilkington, Branagan..
These players as a core would be enough for a mid table finish if we can keep the majority.

I do expect the MaccMachine2k15 to be getting a comprehensive refitting this Summer, hopefully this time with wheels that don't fall off/a tank that doesn't run out of gas/etc.

More likely we'll lose all our best players to teams who can offer a bit more money/longer contracts and Askey or his replacement will have to scrape together a squad with the aim of mid-table obscurity.

Kevin Betsy, Adam Newton and John Nutter have all retired. Three great professionals and thoroughly decent people.

Joe McNerney has turned down a new contract to try and get a move to the Football League. Will be interesting to see if anything happens. At his best he's good enough for that league but has been a bit inconsistent this season.

Sam Russell has confirmed on Twitter that he will be leaving FGR at the end of the season. We already knew that his contract was up and, as one of the few players left from the Hockaday era, it is little surprise that the manager didn't have him in his plans for next season. Excellent keeper, in my opinion one of the best in the Conference, can't see him being out of work for long.

Is he based in Gloucestershire? With Trev Carson likely to leave I wonder if he's someone we might be interested in.

I believe he currently lives in Stroud, so definitely local enough for Cheltenham. You could do far worse than sign Sam, good shotstopper, one of the best keepers I have seen play for us.

He's won supporter's player of the year, which tells you everything you need to know, considering he's kept one clean sheet since September in the League.

Only player to really play with his heart on his sleeve. He came here because we showed promise of being at the right end of the table. It's everyone else that has let us down.

So far confirmed as released are Sam Russell and James Norwood. They will almost certainly be joined by Chris Stokes, Luke Oliver and Keiron Forbes, while Stuart Fleetwood's loan has ended and he wont be offered a deal.

According to our local rag, Corby Moore and Tom Bender are also likely to depart, as is James Marwood which is more surprising given he has a contract for next season.

Russell, Norwood and Stokes are top quality players at this level. Stokes is likely to sign permanently for Coventry, where he's been on loan and done well, and I would expect the other 2 to sign for a top side in this division at the very least.

Would like Sam back here, need an experienced keeper. Wouldn't be shocked at all if Norwood teamed up with Mills here again (Edit: I'm thinking of Marwood, sorry)

Seems that the SNJ were wrong, Moore and Bender offered 6 month deals. Marwood has been very poor and isn't getting much game time, but is under contract. It wouldn't be a shock if he agrees a move somewhere, possibly back to Gateshead.

Anthony Barry is also under contract, but very unlikely to stay. He's been on loan at Accrington for most of this season.

Wouldnt mind us signing Keiron Forbes next season as he was very good in his loan spell, although I think he is one of those players that would go to the highest bidder rather than the best prospect footballing wise.

With Trevor Carson pretty much confirming he's off in the summer, I'd love for us to be in for Sam Russell. Hope he would like to stay local.

If Russell and Norwood are that great then why didn't they start in the play offs?

Suspect there'll be a rather large queue to sign Norwood and Russell.

Expect to see them at Cheltenham next season

http://www.ctfc.com/news/article/cheltenham-town-gary-johnson-retained-list-2439941.aspx

I was going to call it our retained list, but frankly it's a released list. No players have been offered new deals, 6 under contract have been made available for transfer and 3 who had long term injuries will be given the summer to prove themselves. That means only 5 players are in GJ's plans. Sums up how awful our squad has been.

Of those being made available for transfer, I suspect that Trev is by his own choice. The others have simply not made the grade.
