Which Vale will turn up this saturday, the one who played fantastic football against Donny Wigan and Sheff Utd or the dross served up against Bury Fleetwood( 1st half) and Blackpool. Maybe the fact we have quite a few young lads points to why were are so inconsistent but aside from Crewe who are consistently garbage i reckon most teams are similar. Sarfend have had a decent start but i,d like to think we are capable of a point, imperative Streete is fit or fear the worst at the back. 1-1 ( 268 Vale ) .

Yeah I'd go with that 1-1 or might sneak a sneaky win

A lot depends on our defensive line up, with Noel Hunt up front i fear the worst if Streete is out having already lost Inness to a dislocated shoulder, get my excuses in already !!!

Doubt Hunt will play, his been injured and Joe Pigott is scoring goals so Brown won't bomb him if even if Hunt is fit, bonus for you that because I'm really not convinced over Pig. Everytime Hunt plays he looks better than this League.

Yes that was pretty much what i figured, was a bit of a coup for you getting him, Brucie bonus for us if he out . Surprised Prosser has carved out a reasonable career as to be truthful he was dreadful at Vale. Prittlewell train station is about 5 mins from ground is that right ?

Thought he was going to be on the way out this summer, Northampton had a bid rejected and he is only in the side because of injuries. His own goal on Sat was shockingly bad but he is a half decent L2 centre half. Yeah Prittlewell station is about 5mins from ground and the Pub on the corner 'The Blue Boar' is the away pub

Will be on a plane whilst the game is played so hoping positive news when we land! We've only conceded four goals from open play in the league and the rest from set pieces so need to deal with that fast. If we can play as we have against the 'bigger' names this season where we've been outstanding then we have a good chance but a point would be decent away from home.

This is the sort of game where we usually lose at a whimper. If we play like we did against Sheffield, Donny and Wigan, we've got a really good chance of winning however. I don't rate Phil Brown as a manager at all (it's all about him) but he seems to have got Southend playing after a fairly poor start. Uche should bully Prosser as he was like a little boy when he played at the Vale.

Having said that, Mooney is always dangerous and they've got one or two other decent players for this level. I'd take a draw now.

Already down Southend, having a long weekend through to Sunday, just hoping Vale's performance doesn't spoil it.

McGivern at centre half gives me nightmares, unreal to lose Innes till New year and let us hope Streete will be back next week, amazed if he plays tomorrow as he was sparked out completely on Tuesday. I will be in the Blue Boar optimistic of a point, as i said in OP we are so inconsistent. Yet to string 2 wins in a row together and with horrible Westley in town next week it would be nice to bring back at least a point to make it 4 unbeaten in the league.

Been in the town centre today and was surprised to see Spurs have a club shop there, just what smaller local clubs need.

Was talking to a couple in the hotel bar who might now be going the match tomorrow. He's a Liverpool fan who rarely goes and she's a Man Utd fan who's never been to a football match in her life. Suspect they might be in for a culture shock if they actually go.

Sounds familiar. It's a good weekend in Southend. Went when Nathan lowndes scored 2 and we won on the first day of the season in 2005. England won the Ashes as well. Ended in some rate dodgy night club by a car park from memory.
I just hope we can score because we are struggling to keep clean sheets again, I never feel optimistic of winning two games on the bounce and it's another tight pitch on which we seem to always struggle.

Toothless again against a Southend side that didn't look or play great. We just ain't scoring enough, when we go behind we don't look like getting back in it.

We performed ok in general but never really looked like scoring despite creating several decent chances. That's what you get when your manager can't be arsed with trying to sign any strikers in the summer despite losing 3 of his top scorers from the season before.

Hang on. You signed 3(Ikpeazu, Ajay and Hooper) plus a winger. :dk: What more so you want?

Well that's disappointing. Two poor results after seemingly ending the bad spell.

Hey, I wasn't commenting on the quality of the players you've signed, simply pointing out that Page has signed some strikers.

Ikpeazu was signed just after pre season had started and after he'd spent most of his budget on midfielders. Aj was signed at the end of pre season probably for peanuts because Page realised we were short of strikers and he'd got no money for anyone better. As for Hooper, think he's a Smurf signing to appease ovf after they'd been on about him all summer. Page appears to have no intention of playing him.

i actually thought it was an end to end game. arguablly could of got a draw. started really well. that is now 5 of our 7 away games we have failed to score in. whilst realising byron hasn't played great he showed more in his cameo than the fat pudding did in 75 mins. disgraceful team selection. thought their left back with ridiculous bun on his head put in some lovely crosses and corners. and can a Vale fan tell me all the fuss about Andoh ? to me all he does is fall over cos he is little. JMW and Marshall regularly scored, no end product at all. just came away underwhelmed that we were okay but something is missing. Final point what an obnoxious twat the suntanned prick on the touchline was.

I thought Andoh was a constant threat, and Ikpeazu was a proper handful. No idea how that game ended 1-0, could've been a 3-3 easily. A good watch too with a bit of needle in that first half!

Great start to our season, we do belong at this level and comfortably hold our own. Bring on next week.
