From reports we were good first half but not clinical enough. 2 weeks off didn't seem to make us fresh and we faded in the second half.

Fair play to the blades after their cup exit, seems like your squad depth paid dividends.

For us, we have luongo and kasim back after the Asia cup (if we don't sell one or both of them!!) and will hope to bounce back next week at home to Barnsley.

Football and this promotion race is about ups and downs and today is a down for us (bloody Oxford won as well). But there is a long way to go.

should also say, thank you Swindon. Spent ages trying to get Higdon sent off so we had to sub him before half-time (genuinely ridiculous some of the play acting when Hig barely touched them)...so we had to bring on Murphy who scored both our goals. That backfired massively.

No frigging change then!
It's time we asserted our dominance of this league. Tomorrow, we take our rightful place and next weekend, we take over the franchise. The rightful places will be assumed.
Yes, I am a tad pissed!

Not totally unexpected that. I don't believe in this warm weather training bullshit tbh. Didn't work for us, failed to work for Peterborough. Prefer it when they get sent to the army camp.

If you'd have offered me the points we took in January in December I'd have ripped your hand off so not disappointed really. Now kasim and luongo are back from Asia cup we need to get back on track.

Without gladwin, luongo, and kasim in the middle we were very short of options. Plenty of time to go yet and many twists and turns to come.
Hopefully luongo hasn't let his success go to his head as we don't need a billy big bollox display. It's Barnsley in near freezing conditions in February.

Not wishing to detract from what is essentially a match day thread, but what are you pair of sad sacks doing here at 1am on a Saturday night?

And don't bother with the fishing rod malarkey! :bye:

Well done Sheffield United, there won't be many to beat us this season - we are a top, top side for this level with some very talented footballers.

Attention must now turn to doing all we can to keep the leagues best player at the club beyond the transfer deadline.

Considering both he and Kasim have been away, it has been a superb month for us.

Sheffield United were the filthiest team I've seen all season. Higdon seemed intent on getting sent off, he went in that hard on Thompson he split Thompsons socks in half and his boot went flying, yet according to the united fans Thompson was 'cheating'

Referee was awful for both teams, both teams had stonewalls turned down and the game just couldn't flow.

We were the better team for the duration but didn't capitalise on the advantage.

Despite yesterday's set back, we are still the in form team, taking 26 points out of the previously available 30 before yesterday. It's all about how we respond to yesterday's set back.

For those Sheffield United fans calling us 'cheats' both teams were as bad as each other, remove those rose tinted specs.

we weren't the team rolling around every two seconds, doesn't seem like we're the only ones you've done it against.

Swindon had the cheat reputation before this game and every other club is aware of it now..... You agree with your players outward celebrating of getting an opponents player sent off ? - as has happened previously this season

Like the Magic Roundabout designers!

You should post more often when pissed; I love it when opposition supporters jinx their own teams.

You City fans just can't stop bringing up your defeat at Swindon, almost as if you enjoy reliving it. Which seems strange considering you lost your unbeaten record, had a man sent off, and had to watch little Swindon celebrating our "cup final" win right in front of you. Weird.

But go right on, it's the gift that keeps on giving.

So do you agree with their cheating then ?

A simple defensive mechanism against teams that try to foul us. It's quite understandable that teams try to disrupt our passing from the back. Some of them, like Chersterfield recently, do it with pressing and skill. Some of them do it with pushing, trips, tugs and kicks. It reflects badly on your team, not us.

I don't want to get into a slanging match about whether we go down too easy because I've seen it with my own eyes (Nathan Thompson probably the worst culprit), but a tweet from one of our media bods is below -

@SamMorshead_: Given he was given stick for going down softly by Sheff Utd fans, you should see bruising & cuts around Louis Thompson's left ankle. Nasty.

I think because of the way we play we are ripe for getting kicked a lot. Sometimes players make a meal out of it, all teams have players that do it.
