Had an article out this morning with their top 10 players of the season so far. Couple of surprises in there I reckon:

10. Albert Adomah (Villa)
9. Leo Bonatini (Wolves)
8. James Maddison (Norwich)
7. Ollie Watkins (Brentford)
6. Luke Freeman (QPR)
5. Bobby Reid (Bristol City)
4. Junior Hoilett (Cardiff)
3. Sol Bamba (Cardiff)
2. George Saville (Millwall)
1. Diogo Jota (Wolves)

Most of the names seem right to me - I wouldn't have expected Watkins to be so high up. He's been great but his decision making is also pretty poor at times, and I've seen some better players around

Freeman has done well for QPR, but I wouldn't have thought he'd be in the top 10 players (more he's their best player by far so they use him a lot, than he is better than a lot else out there)

Hadn't seen Saville's stats, just looking at those he's having a monster season, but he was pretty poor when they played us, but maybe it was just an off day and he's done better in most other games (seems it)

What does everyone else think?

I would have Neves over Bonatini but otherwise I can't complain.

Saville seems to have everything in his locker. Our most important player by some distance. A world of difference between the neat and tidy but powderpuff kid we had on loan a few years ago, and the dynamic box-to-box midfielder we have now. Jed Wallace has been outstanding also. The Wolves takeover has been the best thing to happen to us in a few years, it seems, as without those two we'd be struggling.

Freeman has created the most chance out of everyone in the league and has the most assists for us so that would be why he is in there, I would have thought. Having a great season though, very good player. Top 10 worthy? Possibly not but to create the most in the league, with a shit team around him is fairly impressive.

Seems like George Saville was just at the wrong club for his development, as he wasn't guarunteed to start. He said in an interview when he left that his biggest regret at the club was that he felt he didn't show the fans his full potential. He seems to be showing us all now at Millwall.

May just be being biased but I'd put Waghorn in above some of those. In terms of ability, he's probably not in the top 10 but if you are looking at just this season's performances, I'd say he's up there.

Presume this is just a stats based list with only one defensive player in there.

Must be otherwise Baker and Bryan would be in there and Reid wouldn't.

Aye, perhaps. I'm wary of talking players up after a few months, because there are too many variables to take into account to make any accurate predictions about their future. I'm just happy to say that for now at least he's an integral part of the team and is central to our success (relative to pre-season expectations, at least) this campaign. One of those rare cases where a transfer has worked out spectacularly for all parties involved.

Looks about right. Saiz can't be far off but a lot of his goals have come in the cup and has been a bit off the last couple of weeks.

I'm kind of surprised Flint isn't there if only for the reason there's a massive media love in for him this season.

Saiz is shit. Nothing to see here - any Premier League team should just move right along and set their sights on any of the others.

It is just who's averaged the most on who scored, which is very detailed but just stats as you say.

Quite good though, you can bet George Saville for instance would be nowhere near this list if it just done by some pundit when he fully deserves to be.

Wolves will be gutted they sold Saville for sod all and spent 16 million on that useless git Neves.

Joking aside Saville clearly had very good technical ability, as someone else said he was never with a good manager at Wolves.

We'd be 19th without Keogh, Carson, Ledley & Vydra.

4 man team.

Would definitely have Freeman over Dogshit Neves. And good thing that malignant pisspoor passer and finisher Cavaleiro isn't there. Also Barry "League Two" Douglas. Bt funnily enough, genuinely... I wouldn't have included Bonatini in the top ten. Bamba, Hoilett, Reid fair enough..but no Leon? No Hugill?

How Barry Douglas was stuck in the Polish leagues for so long is a mystery.

To be fair he won a league title and the Polish Cup there. Then moved to Konyaspor and won the Turkish Cup there too. If he wins the league with us it's 4 trophies in 4 years for him.

Fair enough, just has looked a great player so am a little surprised he wasn’t back in the UK sooner.

His set piece delivery is insane.

Yeah I was thinking that the other day, a few Scotland fans I know were pleased we had signed him as were hoping he'd get selected over Roberson as a result, who Liverpool had just spent £10 million on at the time.
