Time to start this up after inevitably with Vale fans our thread with PV turned into a Kindergarten (Well done for closing TomPNE)

So hopefully onto a more grown up debate with Southend. Southend always seem to have some Swindon connections in their squad so I keep an eye out for their results and goal scorers. They are a decent club and I am glad that they came up (if only to add another name to the small southern section of the league).

To the game, we never seem to win at Roots Hall. And the history seems to back this up with Southend seeming to have the hoodoo over us there. Best we can hope for is a draw IMO, but I can see a 2-1 loss for us here, Robert with our goal..

Be interesting to see how they do tonight first. I don't see a great deal of goals in their team but at the same time we seem to enjoy handing them out. Think Southend will do ok eventually, there's some decent players in their ranks. Always liked Timlin for a start. Sure they will adapt in time.

Our attacking play is good if not a little slow at times, so if we can cut out the mistakes :pond:we should be a decent force.

I'll go 1-2. Robert and Byrne after going behind early.

My first game of the season as one of my local trips this season.

Think it'll be an entertaining game 2-1 to the blues unfortunately.

I'm giving this one a miss and going to the closer game at Crewe in 2 weeks!

They seem to be struggling for goals so far but no doubt we'll give them a helping hand there as we do every team.

I honestly can't remember the last game where we didn't concede. We have to work so hard for our goals yet dish out freebies game after game to the opposition.

It's hard work supporting Swindon.

We've signed Luke O'Neill on emergency loan from Burnley.

Great result, poor performance. But, hey, isn't a streaky 1-0 win what we've been after for so long.

Got to remember we're 3 main players out injured at the moment, only one forward who wants to leave, yet we still score goals.

Bodes well when we get those players back!

Much better than last week, another home defeat. No idea how we haven't scored. Could be a long season if we don't learn to take chances.

Yawn.

I was wondering which bunch of idiots we'd have to put up with now that Bristol City have thankfully left the division. Didn't take long for Vale to fill the gap.

Sounds like Southend were unlucky, Cooper saying we were fortunate to win. I'll take a flukey three points any day.

Very even uninspiring first half. Second half a little bit more open. We scored from a good driving run by Byrne who slipped in Robert, 1-0. The only thing we created all game.

Southend can count themselves unfortunate as Vigoroux made two excellent saves and they also missed a sitter.

A little bit of a smash and grab but the 3 points are very welcome and I had a top day out in Leigh on Sea prior to the game.

Good win. Sounded painfully dull for an hour but it's refreshing to hear that we ground out a result for a change

Robert has cult hero potential. Three goals in four games, and hopefully many more to come.

Most pleasing for me is that our fans mostly agree we are still a couple of players short but still picking up the points. Think there is a lot of improvement left in this squad yet. I'd bin Smith if we can get a replacement lined up. He's a decent League 1 target man but if he doesn't want to be here I'd rather we brought in someone who does.

It's amazing how a small number of dickheads can make you despise an entire club.

This. Had no problem with them until our match last season, now I want them to fail spectacularly, which is a shame because it's only a few posters, unfortunately they are on more than one forum..

The team in Stoke that play like Barcelona and only lose games because of referees and other teams cheating, diving and feigning injuries..

I fucking hate Swindon.

I must admit, it's a real head scratcher.

I've always had a soft spot for Vale. I mean, they're from Stoke but not Stoke, so that counts for something. Their ground is a proper old fashioned ground, the sort I like, and gives you a real feeling that you're at a match, rather than an at-the-leisure-centre experience of some of the newer grounds. The fans have always been good, and the games almost always interesting.

Now they've got Town legend Paul Bodin as assitant manager, and they're trying to play good football with younger players. Like Swindon really, and Bodin admits as much.

The posters were, in the main, very reasonable last season. So I'm really puzzled why the forum is suddenly full of dickheads like this tosser above.

Sorry for posting this in the Southend thread, boring any Shrimpers who are still reading this.

Thing is, they invade every forum, then almost every matchday thread that doesn't, or shouldn't, really interest them.

But what they post is universally antagonistic no matter what club is involved. They seemingly thrive on being dickwads.

To be fair Dan, this thread was started with a quite antagonistic post, aimed at Vale fans, in a thread that has nothing to do with us. The reason I visited was because it was so predictable that we'd be mentioned. So given your post above, as the saying goes, those in glass houses....

Blimey, I'd hardly call the opening post antagonistic. But you must admit a good number of Vale forum posters are purposely beligerent.

No matter what team Vale play, nor whatever the result, your opponents are regularly vilified on forums.

It just grates on a lot of other posters
