The problem here is every Luton fan thought they'd won the league the day CMS was signed. :bdick:

Not here. I hoped we'd start better but it was a lot of new players to bed in. I'd suggest very few thought we'd win it - just hoped we'd be competitive.

It's only 4 games in to a league full of unspectacular teams - apart from portsmouth - who struggled today anyone could go up feesably - I wouldn't worry

I am convinced that Still is actually Grandad from Only Fools and Horses and at one point is going to say "I don't know Rodney"

I personally think this is a perfect opportunity for you to let Still go. I love the man. What he achieved for us is outstanding and he did that by creating a siege underdog mentality. However, the fact was never negated that he is tactically inflexible and very stubborn in his habits. Despite getting us promoted, the highest he finished in League 2 with us was 7th. I'm not sure he has it in him to get a side top 3 in this division. I look at Burton and how they appointed Rowett and Hasselbaink. This is an opportunity for you to find the 'long term' plan because Still was a great option to rescue you from the non league, but you really need to start considering the next step now because Still won't take you to the lofty heights that you wish to scale.

if Mr bean conducted the London philharmonic orchestra then the music would not be the same,
the way our team is playing at the moment is reminiscent of before Still came.
we got rid of breadbin and the Muppet dickie dosh
but the football being played is returning to a state of perplexing dross.
players come and then leave on loan
and people wonder why we bleat and moan.
Luton fans are used to a battle and look forward to a challenge or fight ,
so right now what we need is a leader, unfortunately there ain't one anywhere in site!!

No idea. Who's even available? He's on ice now is Still. Not necessarily thin stuff, but has definitely trodden on ice!

Make Mackail-Smith your manager. His football genius knows no bounds, he'd definitely have you in the Champions League within 5 seasons. He'd probably still score goals from the sideline as well, such is his potency.

I reckon the plan is for Hakan Hayrettin to succeed Still in the long term. Whether he'd be given the job if Still were to leave sooner than planned is another matter...

Still is a dinosaur who is more suited to managing little London clubs in the conference.

Luton need a football league manager!

He's not a dinosaur. A dinosaur doesn't uncover as many good young prospects as he's done in the last 10 years and sell them on for very good money. However, he is very stubborn and his way of playing suits an underdog far better than a title contender. With the players he has at his disposal, a different style of football would be more suiting their ability. He's essentially trying to go toe to toe in the physical/scrappy aspect with a bunch of relatively talented players against sides who are drilled to purposely make games scrappy because they don't have the same level of ability. As an underdog, great you win some unexpected points. As a favourite, you lose more points than you expect.

Luton are a massive club at this level so for someone to play them as underdogs is ridiculous.

I don't think you understood what I was saying. Still relishes managing an underdog. Luton are not an underdog. Hence why he's struggling as his style of football doesn't work with the players he has at his disposal.

Doubt it. If he was going to be sacked you would have thought it would have been after the Carlisle/Newport defeats. Maybe a bad defeat and subsequent ugly crowd reaction might change things, but it seems to me like the board are sticking with him for the foreseeable. Atmosphere at the Kenny these days is more quiet apathy than vocal anger anyway.

He is going to get the rest of the season I think. I just can't see the board sacking him at any point during the season, he has built up enough credit with the board to get that. If it where going to happen it would have happened by now I think and perhaps that's the right cause of action. It could get ugly in the next few games they look pretty tough and that would be a shame as he has done good things here.

However as your typical reactionary fan I'd have him gone by now.

Tactically he has been outwitted so many times this year its untrue and there is nothing he has done in the past 12 or so months that instills any confidence that he can make this season a positive one. Maybe because it is so recent but the Carlise game stands out to me in the sense of him being completely outmanoeuvred tactically.

He keeps blaming "individual errors" (i.e throwing your players under the bus to save yourself, which is a sure sign a manager is on the way out of you ask me) but his tactics,
have caused just as many, If not more, issues in my opinion. Him building an ostensibly talented team around a 36 year old centre forward also doesn't lead me to have much confidence in his ability either really.

How's it feel being below us in the league? Maybe your team would be better off with John Still as your manager with Wycombe being a lowly underdog.
