Somehow my old school lost my transfer application. Thankfully the head of the new school remembered me so it's all been sorted out over email so I don't have an unplanned trip back to Nottingham.

More than annoyed it was lost in the first place mind.

Ouch, how can a school lose vital information like that?

Thankfully sorted, can't imagine the stress that would have caused.

I do sometimes wonder what goes on at schools etc. I remember when I started college I apparently was registered for another college that I had applied for, was on all their registers etc, in their database, despite rejecting them months and months before. Was weird getting texts from mates at the college asking why I wasn't turning up as I was continually marked as absent.

Not a clue. The School my new course is on had messaged saying it was pretty much complete, only for the admin dept. to email and say they never got the form from the old course. When I got it signed back in mid-Jan I even offered to hand it in myself but they said not to worry! I was hoping it'd been sorted earlier as SFE are hot on my case because I'm currently showing as 'withdrawn' from the Uni.

On the matter of Uni and ineptitude, the estate agents we are dealing with for our house have taken the biscuit. Rang and said we didn't need to worry about the deposit in January, only to ring yesterday and give us a 6pm ultimatum to find the money or lose the house!

Well I had an interview about a placement at The Walt Disney Company...unsuccessful.

I knew a lad that did the Disney one. Undergrad placement years are a bitch. I didn't get mine properly confirmed until about May, despite starting looking in October (I wasn't the most driven though admittedly and only actually applied for about 6 or 7 in total) and the fact I did exams in June then started it in July and there were still plenty of people without one when I get that as well.

I'm guessing you applied for the VW Group one in MK? That's a competitive one and the one I wanted initially. I assume you already check vacancies and stuff but this popped up in my inbox a few minutes ago and looks alright (I still haven't unsubscribed to Milkround 2/3 years on, probably should) - http://www.milkround.com/job/63424/marketing-digital-sandwich-placement/

What is it you did/do, something in finance right?
I have been looking since September, applied to 30 in total and still looking despite getting to the final stage for 5 of them. Out of 30, getting 17 unsuccessful applications is rather depressing though surprisingly unsurprising. The psychometric tests you have to do for a few of them certainly don't help, think I have only passed about 50/60% of the time and even when I passed that stage for Jaguar Land Rover, I still didn't get through to the assessment centre.

I applied too late for the VW one so didn't get anywhere with that. Applied to a few others in MK though such as Argos, Mercedes-Benz, Santander, MSD, and Network Rail but only have MSD and Mercedes left out of those.

Thanks for the link mate, appreciate it.

Psychometric tests were fairly easy for me but I did a Maths-y degree so yeah - although run for the fucking hills if you ever get linked to a Talent Q Logical Reasoning Test...they're the work of Satan and I've failed one of those. To be honest our placement year was compulsory but I started off purely going for stuff I wanted so I got through to the final stage at PwC, Boots, VW Group and didn't get them...that's why it's difficult because it's a bit of a blow to the ego because you breeze through and then you get rejected, maybe for someone who was at the AC with you. In the end I just branched out and applied for all sorts and rather fortuitously got a job at a big well-known company (won't name them cos I didn't particularly like it there and will no doubt slag them off a bit on here, people there were fine and my boss was awesome though so...) but it basically made up my mind I didn't want to do anything accountancy-based after that.

There's no real advice but I applied for the one I got pretty much around this time of the year (it was definitely February). All I'll say is getting to the final stage 5 times and not getting one is pretty unlucky by law of averages, you're obviously doing something right to get that far - I'm assuming you asked for feedback on assessment centres and interviews? Some companies just have weird filtering systems, I remember being told for example that Rolls Royce reject you if you have no pre-Uni work experience - which seems a bit harsh (and maybe false) but they have to narrow it down somehow.

A woman I knew is running for my old uni's SU President role. She released her campaign video yesterday. Really quite impressive.

I don't know who the other candidate is but they'd have my vote.
