Not looking good with 5 points from a possible 24 and in freefall. With both Liverpool and City away in their next 4 games, you have to wonder if they're going to end up in a relegation scrap.

I hope Swansea stick with Monk though. It's through spells like this that will make him a better manager.

They will stick with him I reckon. For a start who are they going to get in that will offer an increased chance of staying up? They will survive, there are at least 4-5 teams that will get less points this season and that will be enough to keep his job. As you say, next season he'll be better for it.

It's an interesting one. Runs of form can be due to several factors, including a tough fixture list. 12 games into the season is long enough to be asking questions though.

Below is a quick table, showing their equivalent results from their fixtures so far, during the last three years.

They have taken noticeably fewer points than last year (their best ever season, so not particularly surprising.) They do, however, have more points than at this stage two and three years ago from the same fixtures, although I have removed the Watford match, where in reality they maybe should have been getting points from such a match.

Do those England fans still want Monk to replace Hodgson in the summer?

Their best player, Michu has now jumped ship. He knows a downward spiral when he sees one.

What happened to him - one great season then nothing but injuries and lack of form?

Swansea will be fine, but they need a new striker. As much as I admire Gomis's contributions to the art of interpretive dance, he's crap for a side which should be finishing top 10 with the players they have. Ki, Shelvey, Cork, WIlliams, Montero, and Ayew are all plus Premier League players.

Utterly embarrassing if this turns out to have any truth. The be all is to stay up, we'll stay up. That's all we need to do, stay up and keep taking the money until our infrastructure is that of a PL club. In the meantime Garry will continue to develop and learn.

Glad common sense has prevailed and he appears to be staying. As others have said, it wasn't too long ago that he was being touted as a future England manager.

So Swansea "have reluctantly parted company with Monk"

Who next for the Swans do we think? Moyes?

For me, Swansea are a better team than Spurs. Obvious bias aside I think it's a valid statement. The only players from Tottenham that would make it into the starting 11 of most teams in the top 6 would be Lloris, and Eriksen, the rest of their squad is pish. Then you look at Swansea... Shelvey, Sigurdsson, Ayew, Montero and Gomis can all be match winners and would walk into the Spurs side (Except maybe Shelvey)

Post of the year.

Fucking ridiculous. Shelvey would be first name on the team sheet at Spurs.

Talking of Michu he now plays in the 4th tier of Spanish football

Didn't score at all after his breakthrough season, couldn't break into the matchday squad so ended up losing all confidence and ending up at the bottom.

And to put it into perspective, the 4th tier of Spanish Football has around the same level of quality as the National League, maybe even the NL South/North.

Nah. Was to do with ankle injuries. He's rebuilding his career at a local club

He's only as far down as the fourth division as his brother is the manager.

Hard to say given his fitness issues, but I doubt he's any worse than a second division player.

Strange career for him though, two years of great football (one in La Liga, one in the Prem) and a Spanish cap, surrounded by a lot of averageness.
