We have the proud honour of having the penultimate player to be sent off at the old Wembley (Clint Hill), which was in the last League Cup final to be held there. We lost 2-1 :(

Mansfield, Pompey and Northampton bought circa 800. Wycombe about the same.
We had just over a thousand at your place. No doubt there will be stats released on here after the final game showing number of home / away fans.

We've never lost a game at Wembley and have only conceded 1 goal there in 4 visits, surely the best record for a lower division side at Wembley? (excluding defeat on penalties vs York in 1993)

Sadly, I think the scum have better record with 3 wins from 3. I'm sure there must be others who've won more but not many who've lost less.

We must surely hold the record for the last League Cup goal conceded at the old Wembley too then?

We used to have the largest pitch-size in England... that was a while ago though and it's simply a matter of painting the lines in a different place to change it, so I don't know if we still do.

my favourite Southend one - Hold the record for most consecutive missed penalties - 8 - mainly Brett Angel, this was when we were actually a decent side as well. Forest came close to it about 7 or 8 years ago when they managed 7.

as far as I'm aware only team in the UK (possibly the world) to have played at a stadium with a amusement park ride located within a stand. Played at the Kursaal in the 20's/30's which had a water slide in a stand behind the goal.

Fastest league goal on debut - Freddy Eastwood v Swansea - 6.7 seconds.

One of only 3 teams (Brentford and Clapton Orient the others) to play a league match at Wembley when Clapton Orient had nowhere else to play Division 3 South games in 1930. 1,900 turned up for Clapton v Southend in a stadium that's capacity at the time was 127,000.

Most points in a season and still relegated - 54 in Division 3 1988-89.

The famous Roy McDonough has of course racked up more red cards than any other professional footballer in the history of the game - the majority of them at Southend United. Not only holding the record for most, but most at one club, I'd like to add that I believe it is jointly shared with Lee Cattermole who with one more can take his title. Who can forget his famous Kung Fu kick on Tony Pulis just 5 minutes into an FA Cup game against Newport.

I believe we also hold some sort of record for least draws in a season - but I can't remember it fully, I'll have to verify it.
We're coming for Stockport's league games without conceding as well, currently on 8, get through Morecambe and it'll be tied. (I've blatantly jinxed it!)

Don't know if any Tranmere fans have added this but; Tranmere 13-4 Oldham holds the record for most goals in a professional game of football in England.

Tinpot Achievement: Kicked the ball out of the ground further than any other team in the Football League.

Apparently in the 1970s when we were absolute dogshite, one of our players kicked the ball out behind the Railway End into a passing freight train truck, the ball was later retrieved in Carlisle I do believe. An impressive 140 miles away which I'm sure will never be beaten.

Think this was some sort of record at the time, although on 5:50 you'll see the best penalty ever taken.....ever.

We hold the record for the longest shootout where each penalty is successfully converted. Weird night.

We also hold the joint most goals in a single league cup tie as of this season. Another equally weird and mental night. Although we still haven't made it past the first round in 8 attempts now which is probably some sort of other shitty record.

Also the highest single leg play-off victory (6-0 vs Morecambe) and joint biggest Conference defeat (0-9 vs Hereford).

So yeah, give us a cup competition of some sort and we'll probably be worth the entry fee!

We're responsible for Bournemouth's turn in fortunes. They were heading out of League 2, played and beat us, stayed up and haven't looked back since.

Some more tinpot claims...

First club in the north west to install floodlights.
In 1996/97 Bury won the second division with the best home record in the country. We didn't lose a single league match and conceded just seven goals.
All of these goals were scored By the opposition at the Manchester Road End.
In 1994 the lacrosse World Cup was hosted at Gigg Lane.
Bury have played Liverpool more times than they have played local rivals Rochdale in the league.
In Burys first season in the football league (1894/95) Bury won the then second division but had to play a playoff game against the bottom placed team in the league above. The team they beat and relegated, Liverpool.
Used to kick off home matches 10 minutes later than other league clubs to allow people to supp up in pubs and the social club to make it to the match. This got stopped by the football league in the early 1980's.
Gigg Lane was the ground where Brian Clough broke his leg whilst playing for Sunderland effectively ending his playing career.
It is also the ground where Arsenal manager Herbert Chapman caught a cold whilst scouting a reserve match which would go on to kill him.
Only ground in the country which has a fire escape which leads straight into a cemetery.

Another one...

On October 4th 1913 Bury became the first ever club to beat Arsenal at Highbury.

I like that one.

But was the lacrosse game played under floodlights and how many points were scored at the Manchester Road End? Half a fact is no good man!!!
