Dachau concentration camp is a good day out, short train journey away

Obviously have to go to one of the bier halls as well, although most of the are just full of tourists
That sounds great but sadly I don't think I'll time, I only have an evening and morning/early afternoon.

Morning is enough to visit most of Dachau. Certainly doesn't take all day. I preferred it to Auschwitz tough which is big but didn't like the tour.

Chile is out of my budget, so I'm going with my backup plan to visit Arequipa.

$88 for the flight from Lima which is 46 pounds found on Skyscanner. Good deal or should I search other companies?

If you want info on the best concentration camps to visit then this is the thread for you. Not sure it stretches to bargain South American flights.

Just about to call my time on Ohrid. Stunningly beautiful even with Yugos and the odd derelict building. I've been here a week, in which I've been best man at a wedding function, and I've spent under £400 including the hotel (Villa Ohrid). Food is good only if you go to the right places, unfortunately they're few and far between.

Now for something completely different.

Biggest trip of a lifetime starts on Monday. Hong Kong for a few days then on to Chengdu. A couple of weeks through Sichuan and Quinghai by 4WD then train into Tibet. Birding and monasteries in Xiongse Valley finishing in Lhasa to celebrate a Ruby Wedding Anniversary.

Body and bank balance unlikely to ever manage a trip like this again. On balance, it's worth missing the Euros and the first game of the season.

Me and she me friends headed down to Combe Martin in North Devon over the weekend and it was absolutely stunning. We found a cove that was fairly hard to go to but was beautiful. We spent the whole of Saturday messing about there in the sun. It's the first time I've been to a beach in years and I loved seeing the tide coming in to claim everything back and you could see how the dramatic coastline had been created by years of storms. You could feel the power from the sea on a normal day and Id love to go back during a storm.

After that day we just couldn't understand why so many people go abroad for beach holidays but it then rained for two days....

The one downside was there were loads of harmless jellyfish. I had to politley ask some children not to throw them at each other and remind them that they are animals. Pretty weird. Some other women then stuck a stick through one and threw it in the sea....... I think she had some challenges though as she also threw a milk carton in.

It's beautiful down that way. I was there earlier in the year. Went to the
weirdest theme park too. Watermouth castle, have a look online. Fucking scary:lol:

I am currently in Vietnam. Saigon/Ho Chi Minh to be specific. I wouldn't normally be posting on holiday, but it's 00:30, the other half has been asleep for two hours and I can't sleep. Short version: it's fucking excellent here. Most people, understandably, travel around the whole country or try to do as much as possible. Only had 6 days free, so am doing Saigon, and for cheap food, lovely people, and an atmosphere, weather, chaos etc to make you feel alive, it's unbeatable.

I went there when I was about 9 or 10, is Gnomeland still there? I vaguely remember panning for gold in some sort of trough as well.

I liked it down Illfracombe way, wouldn't mind going back at some point but it's a bloody trek from Lancashire.

Just got back from an all inclusive in Fuerteventura with the Mrs. Had a great time, left a really long winded review on trip advisor just to be a dick. Average hotel that served it's purpose.

Where did you stay out of interest?

Me and the Mrs were looking at cheap deals in September and was looking at a couple of all inclusive hotels in Fuerteventura.

Geranios Suites and Spa we stayed, near the southern parts of Fuerteventura. There's a lot of nice places around the area.

I'd recommend the hotel we stayed in if you're playing on just chilling as they don't offer much else.

Cheers, will check it out.

Yeah that's the plan pretty much, meant to be going with another couple so just chilling. Although bars nearby would be handy for the evenings as an alternative to just the hotel bar.

Got back from Cambodia a couple of weeks ago, brilliant place, crammed so much into two and a bit weeks. Visited Phnom Penh, Kampot, Ream and Siem Reap with two days in Bangkok either side. Angkor Wat is amazing.
Next trip is a weekend in Nuremberg in November, looks a cool place.
I hated Phnom Penh....the Killing fields and prison were really interesting, the former being one of the most eery places I've ever been...the city though really wasn't nice imo.

Siem Reap was fantastic. Found everyone there so nice. We got some young fella to drive us around Angkor Wat for the day....and had a beer with him once he'd dropped us back into town. We also got out so Sihnokville (sp?)....which was a bit more of a party place more than anything but was still quite nice. We were meant to go out to the nearby island of Koh Rong but didn't quite have time.

Cambodia really is an amazing country.

Saigon is amazing....much better than Hanoi. My only regret from Saigon is we didn't get out to the tunnels. We were so hungover off the 15p beer we woke up too late and ended watching a Connor McGregor fight at a local bar....It was a sad day.

I didn't mind Phnom Penh too much but can see why people wouldn't be keen, can't stay there long. The traffic is crazy and there is construction going on everywhere. Kids coming into restaurants on the main strip while you were eating, trying to sell you friendship bracelets and not giving up really fucked me off.

The food was great though, plenty of places to get pissed and the Royal Palace is cool.

Yeah Siem Reap is good and we hired a taxi for the day to take us round Angkor Wat for some stupidly reasonable price. Pub Street was a bit of a shittier Khao San Road but I really liked it around the night market.

I was a bit underwhelmed by KSR...one night the police shut every bar at 12. Ended up drinking with a bunch of locals sitting on the side of the street. Bangkok wasn't nearly as crazy as I thought it would be, I just remember it being unbearably hot. It's not a place I'll be a in a rush to return to.

Having some serious post trip blues already....getting up for work tomorrow will be a serious arse ache.

Booked Oktoberfest recently too...something to look forward to I guess.

Yeah, I tend to agree about Khao San, had a couple of good nights out there but wasn't raving about it. Horrible place during the day, you just get pestered to fuck. Couldn't spend more than a few days in Bangkok but the place is so big, I bet there is plenty there that people miss.

I went to Bangkok for about five days, and the heat took a lot of getting used to, but I really liked the fact it's chaotic, and quite rough around the edges.

Bangkok is one of my favourite cities. Perfect in winter what it's a little cooler. Had 2 great Christmases there. Fantastically cheap too.

Back in Abu Dhabi after stopping off in Istanbul last weekend. Very cheap accommodation and flights after the recent terror attacks. Quite impressed how quickly they got the airport sorted after the attacks.

Which Greek islands do people find best? For me personally it's Corfu. What about others.
