Hopefully that strengthens Di Maria's cause to get back into midfield and gets Herrera into the XI, our tempo is so slow without him.

Massive loss though, Carrick is probably our most important player. Blind needs to step up.

And step up he does. An assist and a hand in the third goal. A worthy man of the match performance. Carrick is great at controlling the pace when we're facing a high tempo side. Blind brings in that little bit of extra forward momentum. Di Maria isn't playing with the flair he started with, seems like he's been leeched of his creativity by our patchy form. Hopefully, he picks up his world class form and helps secure a top 3 finish

Amazing. Can't decide whether this is better than Rafa's dossier or not. Inclined to say yes, given it's Big Sam* that's irked him so.

*not sure I'm down with other Prem managers calling him this, sounds a bit weird

Also, doesn't this just kinda prove Allardyce right?

It's not quite as ridiculous as Rafa's famous meltdown but the fac(h)t that he felt the need to respond to Big Sam™ in the manner he did, by thumbing through a freshly printed of selection of neatly presented stats in a press conference about a forthcoming game, is pretty embarrassing. He is usually pretty good at batting away unwanted comments and questions but Big Sam™ has hooked him in big time with this one.

"Not quite as ridiculous"? I'm not so sure.

Allow me, if you will, to break down both performances:

Language
The Dutch accent is internationally recognised for being hilarious. We all know this. And though generally funnier than the Spanish, Rafa's pronunciation of "facts" muddies the waters a little and I'm prepared to call it a draw. 0 - 0.

Emotional State
VG looks stern and irritated while Rafa delivers his "facts" speech with a gentle tone and smiles occasionally through out. However, Rafa reads his directly off the sheet, referring to incidents months before and I believe (but could stand corrected) that his document was hand written. I doubt VG knocked up that document on word himself and commented off the figures as opposed to prose. Again, this could go either way but I think VG edges this one. VG +1

Subject of the Rant
Who is the rant aimed at? I don't think many would argue that Rafa takes this round. Its fucking Sam Allardyce. Rafa +1

Miscellaneous
Aftermath. The look on that woman's face adds additional humour, which was missing from Rafa's speech and therefore making VG look even more foolish. Rafa +1

I feel I've been as objective as I can be but either way, I don't believe its as easy to dismiss Rafa's speech as more ridiculous. They both look like twats.

Very much reminiscent of a former Liverpool manager whose name escapes me. Dear oh dear.

It's embarrassing but I'm not sure Van Gaal went full Benitez. He wasn't accusing anyone of wanting the fixture list tailored or receiving any special treatment from officials.

:fl: He's lost the plot. Not quite Rafa levels of conspiracy but the focus and ego are exactly the same.

Not comparable to the Rafa rant, which was a hook, line and sinker job by Ferguson. Van Gaal wasn't ranting but he is simply a pedantic know-it-all and wants to prove himself right in any argument. Bet Big Sam pissed himself laughing mind.

Indeed, van Gaal saved his biased officiating rant for the 0-0 draw at Cambridge.

Meh, bollocks like that is pretty common from football managers. Hardly comparable to Rafa's meltdown.

Perhaps in a Man United v Chelsea game, I would argue it's far less common when playing a side such as Cambridge.

Thought it was Moysey who had the small time mentality.

Ah, so this is what it's all about. Moyes wasn't good enough mate, get over it.

Neither is LVG by the looks of it. Moyes won 12 out of his first 24, exactly the same as LVG. And that's after spending roughly the same as Arsenal, Chelsea, City and Man Yoo did in Moyes' season in charge.
