i think there is definitely potential for a nationwide UK indie fed / tv deal. PCW runs it from a nightclub and it works because it feels close in and the acoustics are excellent. i'd imagine there's several big nightclubs in the UK that could host a wrestling show

yep and while TNa hasn't really done much for American Wrestling it hopefully has helped UK wrestling abit as its given Challenge TV a reason to invest in it and give it some publicity.

I just hope if TNA do die it doesn't lead to Challenge giving up on wrestling, it gets a good 200,000 viewers on there, that could be more if it was a well advertised UK promotion.

And you could keep the same show format as PCW currently have, where they just have 1 show every month and you can use the Challenge TV Channel as a means of promoting the show with interviews and announcements during advert breaks and the like.

Apparently ITV ran a pilot for a new version of world of wrestling but have decided not to go with it

Shame really. Heres the pilot. Some well known wrestlers on it

World of Wrestling was obviously massively popular in the 70's and early 80's, but ended up becoming a little bit farsical and slapstick. It would probably be better if they steered away from that name and would have gone with something else. There's so much young local talent out there that isn't being utilised on a national level.

Wrestling frankly isn't popular anymore, it isn't in America (WWe get an average of less than 4 million people in America when not in its mania period) so you can say 4 million average is your top whack most you can attract anywhere in world.

UK wise the top whack is about 250,000, possibly 300,000........TNA gets about 200,000, WWE gets fewer than that (but its on a paid channel so expected) so I would guess if you put WWE on free it's going to be about 300,000 to 350,000 at best.

World of Wrestling would have done Millions of viewers back in its prime, it was a key ITV afternoon show and was when UK wrestling was bigger than US wrestling. There is no way.........no way what-so-ever that any re-make can be done on that show. Wrestling will no longer give ITV the viewing figures it would want.

Challenge is a great bet for a future UK show, they have at present a good interest in Wrestling, they are happy with 200,000 viewers as that is very strong for the channel, they are currently liking a compliment to gameshows which gives them something different, but at same time keeps similar viewers.

It won't happen at present as TNA fill their gaps perfectly and people are happy watching it, but I think personally TNA will be gone by Christmas, if they do collapse it leaves Challenge 2 options, possibly try for ROH, or else see if a UK show could fill the gap..........I am hoping possibly that could be route in but we'd all have to back it short-term if we want UK TV shows.

Got the Daniel Bryan DVD for my birthday and been watching it today. Great stuff. Really loved his heel run around 11/12, especially Team Hell No.

I'm considering picking up his autobiography coming out soon. Loved Foleys, even though I didn't really see much of Foleys career until after he'd retired (the first time, at least...) Would be great reading about a man who I've seen come up all the way.

Yeah, noticed that last night. Doesn't seem to be on Sky Sports, either.

With all this advertising it, it seems that they actually forgot to mention HOW THE FUCK WE ACTUALLY WATCH IT.

I think youtube is like the only option.

I wouldn't be too disheartened to miss out on Tough Enough, it's far more "reality" TV than a competition. It's got an American Idol format to it. It's designed to bring reality TV viewers in to bring new eyes on the product, not entertain the fans that have always been there.

Yeah, but to be fair the last season of Tough Enough that they did was actually great. Though most of the reason for that was Austin, who I always say did the best stuff he did since he was a full time wrestler. The way he tore some of the contestants to shreds was brilliant.

Austin single-handedly made that show watchable. Unfortunately Jericho has jumped the shark and is nothing more than a rent-a-dad, corporate stooge.

I enjoyed it but the Tough Talk show afterwards on the Network with The Miz was ten times better, got to see everyones personalities alot more, the judges were better and Miz was indeed awesome in his role. I like ZZ but not sure if hes WWE material, cant have him blowing up in the ring, I struggle to see how he will be even above average in the ring, we will see I guess. I do like Tanner, has a lot going for him, hopefully can deliver in the ring, his MMA style should help him.

Nick bockwinkel died yesterday. Was one of the great heel wrestlers from the 60s and 70s and anyone not familiar with his work should get on the network asap
