Jon Stead (Notts Co)
Gary Roberts (Pompey)
Luke Berry (Cambridge)

Wouldn't have Green in there. Cuthbert is a better Luton signing imo.

Never heard of Luke Berry.

Was going to do some 'honourable mentions' with Cuthbert (and your lad Joyce) among others, but got distracted. However Green's a class above this league, if he stays fit. That applies to most of the list, tbh.

Hmm I've obviously watched Green on off days then.

The only other thing I need to add at this moment....
Rakish Bingham.

Would not have Jon Stead there either I don't see him as very impressive Matt Green for one would be a better signing.

Barry Corr is terrible. Genuinely the worst player at Exeter in years.... Maybe even the worst since Alex Jeannin.....

..and yet, the majority of Southend fans were sad to see him go.

For anyone who doesn't know who Luke Berry is don't worry, you soon will.

To be different, and considering impact on club and team potential/performance rather than just transfer/contract value, I'd go with:
  1. Rakish Bingham
  2. Luke Berry (adds spark and sell on potential)
  3. Barry Corr (key need was No 9 - also needed 2 CB's but that's easier to achieve)
  4. Bobby Olejnic (quality keeper gives foundation for decent 1st 11)
  5. Cameron McGeehan (could add spark and sell on potential)
  6. Trevor Carson (needed proven solidity at back to progress)
All quite parochial, as I have little first hand knowledge of some other obvious picks, clubs like Luton and Portsmouth need something extra special for it to be a "signing of the summer" (in retrospect I think Cam may turn out to provide that) and you may have noticed that a few U's fans would quite like to have signed a more proven keeper than Chris Dunn this summer - I think some of us would even have welcomed Tyler or Olejnic with open arms.

I know I am biased but I'd put Lee Holmes and Bobby Olejnik in the top 5.

Jon Stead for Notts, Kemar Roofe, Ryan Taylor for Oxford make my 5.

Not sure about McGeehan being included, I'm definitely one of the few Luton fans who aren't quite so high on him though so perhaps I'm wrong. If you factor in what he could be then perhaps I can see but right now I think we're paying for potential than getting a ready made player who you could say is one of the best signings in the league. Definitely expecting him to make big strides this season though.

I think a lot of good signings have been made this summer so far, in no
Order really:
Bennett (Portsmouth)
Berry (Cambridge)
Stead (Notts County)
Roberts (Portsmouth)
Green (Luton)

Probably forgotten a few signings but those ones stood out to me at be time.

Sorry if including your own teams signing is frowned upon!

It's actually laughable how biased fans are to their own team and players.

Anyway my top 5:
Olejnik - Exeter
Holmes - Exeter
Oyeleke - Exeter
Brown - Exeter
Bingham - Hartlepool

I also suspect Stevie O'Donnell for us might turn out to be a great player based on my non existent knowledge of the SPL and YouTube highlight reels..

On a side note what's the difference between us resigning Green and Cambridge resigning Berry? Apart from age and Cambridge offering a longer contract, both were very good players in the Conference and earned moves to higher levels where they didn't cut it. Though Green went to the Championship and main problem was a long-term injury and Berry went to league one and just didn't do it.

Despite this many people have Berry down in their lists yet no one seems to recognise that Green is even a coup for us when he signed? I know some of us the Stags fans on here are bellends but I must be missing something massive here.

Probably because Berry was actually rated by Barnsley fans, whilst Green has barely kicked a football in anger for two seasons.

Saw both play. Rated Berry, didn't rate Green. Pretty simple.

As far as I know Berry played very well at Barnsley, but they got a new manager and he sort of fell out of favour as he wanted something different in midfield.

Green barely played through injury so id say there is a fairly sizeable difference!

To clarify, IF he can remain fit i think Green will be very useful.

Never seen Berry, Roofe or Mcheen so can't pass comment on those. Of course Lord Rakish of Bingham will be incredible. Not sure on Matt Green. Obviously Mansfield fans have a soft spot for Green because he got them out of the Conference but as other have said he hasn't played a lot of football in a couple of seasons. All about how quickly he can get back into a first team situation and get back the confidence to take on opportunities which is often half the battle with strikers at this level.

Because Berry did cut it, but preferred to come back instead of sitting in the bench under a new manager

Honourable mention to my favourite signing of ours, Alexander McQueen. If his name wasn't enough for you he's actually been quite good in both of our friendlies so far. I would've considered chucking him in my list for a laugh but we've just sold our best player so for all I care we might as well liquidate.
