He's gone from playing on loan at Torquay, to holding his own against Aston Villa, West Brom, and Liverpool in cups for us this season, with England youth duty thrown in. His development has been a bit odd.. he needs to settle into playing consistent opposition rather than the opposition drastically varying one game to the next. I'd like to see him loaned out long term next season to get more first team games, but Howe reckons he's up to pushing for PL starts next season... we'll see!

France 2-0 Qatar
9 changes to the squad and still a convincing win.
Hunou and Kaboooomi (check out his goal!) the scorers.

England beat Ivory Coast 2-1 after a worrying regression in playing style. You wouldn't think so from the goals though.

So Mexico this evening, can't say I really know much about them but a win is probably needed.

Mexico have just taken the lead after being behind, 2-1. They've easily been the better team in this second half, disappointing 35 from our lads so far. 5 to go...

So England finishing 4th place after a 2-1 defeat against USA in the 3rd place playoff.

Pleased to see that Cargill fared better and was certainly involved. went close to scoring twice from CB, hitting the woodwork, and then was "harshly" adjudged to handling in the box according to the report for the second USA pen.

3rd place equals the USA's best finish at this tournament, but ultimately the majority of the players involved won't make much of a mark at the full international level. Julian Green, the most hyped prospect apart from 18 year old Zelalem, looked non-existent and worryingly off the pace. Zelalem saw only one start (he's 18 and still needs to physically develop), but was the best player on the pitch every time he played for the side. He hadn't trained much with his new American teammates, but still seemed to have a wonderful mental connection in the midfield and showed real quality in the final 3rd despite being seen as more Xavi than Zidane. If he fills out and Wenger manages his integration properly, the lad has a future for Arsenal and could be the featured player in 2018 for the US.
